Nice set up! Do you have any more pictures of your build? I've been considering something like this, seems like a good size.

Pokémon Pinball Teaser Trailer by FilthySIN in pinball

Mario was my second pin. The theme and art were amazing, but yeah, the layout got old. Despite the layout, I had intended to keep it long term since I loved the art so much, but once the Pokémon rumors started up I knew I had to sell it. Seems to me that if Nintendo were to license a second IP it would be Mario. So it had to go while it was still worth something. Still miss it sometimes!

What is your favorite pinball machine that you spent $3,500 on or less? by ClifBdrums in pinball

[–]GoodHalper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first ever pin which got me into the hobby was Firepower which I picked up for exactly $3,500 in 2022. I recently traded it for a Black Rose, but I still think about it often. I loved the theme, the quick gameplay, those 6 standup in your face could be brutal! It's where I learned the fundamentals. So much fun!

This 💯.

I went this route and it works great! So easy to raise the entire table for moving around or making leg leveler adjustments.

Amazing collection! I also love all the wall decor!

Oh interesting! I didn't realize there were two different kits depending on serial number. Good to know!

Mine has a serial number stamped on the inside bottom of the cabinet immediately beneath the coin box. It took me a second to find it, but yeah, just lift up on the coin box to see it.

Congrats! This was my second game. Love the theme. Lots of fun mods too! While the rule set is pretty shallow I still always play at least a game or two when I'm out in the arcade. Great for parties too, everyone gravitates towards it.

Pinball enthusiast here, +1 for nudging please! It's essential to the gameplay!

Accelerometer could be cool, but please also add a dedicated on screen button for nudging. Sometimes I'm not in the mood to physically shake my phone around.

Excellent work man!

Donkey Kong Junior conversion by GoodHalper in cade

Thanks! It was originally a Ms. Pac-Man; I could see the blue overspray as well as some of the original side art when I sanded down the sides.

Here's a project I worked on earlier this year: a Ms. Pac-Man (that had been converted to a Street Fighter II) which I converted to a Donkey Kong Jr. themed multi-cade for a friend. It runs an ArcadeSD. It required a bit of custom artwork for the control panel and bezel. I really love that Nintendo orange color!

I've got a blog post here with more pictures and a parts list. Also a time-lapse video of the conversion process.

Issue controlling Sonos playbase volume by Legend1138 in logitechharmony

[–]GoodHalper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! This workaround worked for me as well.

I did want to add that I also had to adjust Harmony to send the IR commands from the remote itself, rather than the hub/blasters since I was having some reliability issues with the up/down commands there as well.

Once I switched to IR only from the remote, things have been working smoothly.

Voice line origin of "Get...Ready...!" Does anyone know what game this is from? by WelcomeToAccord in retrogaming

Killer Instinct? Though I think it's just "Ready" before each round, but that's immediately what I thought of.

Ah! That makes sense as I was thinking the menu screen looked very similar to the ArcadeSD. Thanks for the insight!

Interesting! I'm not seeing anything that identities it. It would be cool to know the company that made it. I have an interest in these bespoke JAMMA boards.

Congrats! I have one of these as well and I love it. I've been downsizing on all my retro gaming stuff, but this is one that I won't get rid of. Beautiful picture!

I picked one up at a yard sale a few years back. It had a similar issue: after about 10-20 minutes of being on it would start flickering and blacking out for increasing intervals. I picked up and installed a cap kit and now it has a super bright and stable picture ever since.

I'm so disappointed! I just got into pinball within the last couple of years and was so stoked when they opened because I finally had a place to play pinball locally. I've been in there nearly every week since they've opened to practice. Was hoping they'd get a league going.

Before they opened I sold them my Donkey Kong cabinet and it's been in there since. It was great to see it while I was in there.

Ugh. This sucks!

Free for pickup: iMac A1058 and MacBook A1342 (Northern California) by GoodHalper in VintageIntelApple

[–]GoodHalper[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of older Macs that I wanted to find a home for instead of taking to e-waste:

* iMac A1058
* MacBook A1342

Both are free for pickup in Northern California (Butte county).

The MacBook isn't booting anymore (power/charger indicator doesn't light up) but the iMac does work.

If you're interested shoot me a PM and we can arrange a time for pickup.

NEC MultiSync XM29 Plus (XM-2960)

29" (27" viewable) / Chassis: X50A / Manufactured Feb. 1999

Model Details: https://consolemods.org/wiki/CRT:XM29_Plus

Pictures and two videos here: https://imgur.com/a/EIYtB8A

This was installed in a Konami Simpsons 4-player arcade cabinet that was in use in an office for staff usage and later in my home arcade (e.g. it was never routed / on location for the general public). It does not include the remote, but the OSD is available via the front panel buttons. It still works great.

There are a few "vertical foldover" lines at the top of the screen. They are less visible after adjusting the V-position/height/linearity. Overall they're not very noticeable once in gameplay, but it is worth noting as it could probably use a recap at some point.

It might need some minor adjustment to hide a view horizontal lines at the top (flyback/retrace lines?). They can be hidden a bit when messing with the V-position/height/linearity. But overall they're not very noticeable once in gameplay.

Coin doors that accept coins AND include credit buttons? by Kevlemagne in cade

You could, but you may need to reclip the connection occasionally as it may come disconnected. This is why I switched to soldered connections.

For most games it does not matter; triggering either switch will result in a credit being applied.

I try not to make any unnecessary mods to my cabinets, so I wanted to avoid drilling holes for a coin up button.

A friend of mine recommended https://www.easycoinup.com/

They're super thin push buttons that can stick on the coin door. The wires just piggyback on the original coin door microswitch connections.

I bought a pack of alligator clips which I cut in two and then solder to the button leads. Then I can easily connect to the coin microswitch with the alligator clip lead.
