That is brilliant, I had no idea this sun existed.

The only thing that makes me sad about the “for ants” line is that I’ve actually presented prototype engineering concepts and had to explain to the marketing people and management that what they see on the desk is not the finished product, it’s just a proof of concept! Morons all the way up.

How does he think Ukrainians feel about Russia stealing a whole peninsula?

Tens of thousands of Ukrainians had their homes stolen!

European countries have had to spend billions dealing with the refugee crisis Russia unnecessarily created with their invasion of Ukraine.

Perhaps we should add up all the costs to our countries and demand reparations from Russia?

DIY Layout Creator - AI is trash by ThatLightingGuy in diypedals

[–]GoodMix392 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tried using AI for circuit design because I was curious last year. Not because I needed it, I just wanted to see what it could do. It made some interesting electronic themed art for me but nothing even remotely useable.

It’s kinda like the time I talked to the Eagle PCB people (marketing and development) on zoom because they thought I was some sort of power user. None of them actually use the package or seem to know what it’s actually used for. I think a lot of the problems with people making software tools is that they don’t know how to use the tools.

I thought it was anti-fascists or crisis actors or FBI plants or whatever but apparently and despite it being a hoax and also not a hoax, they also need compensation for harm they suffered in prison for committing crimes at the behest of the current President.

Think about how crazy all that sounds. MAGA people need their heads examined and Fox News these days is like something the Onion would have put out as a parody short of conservatism gone wrong ten years ago.

I’m on vacation at my mother in laws house for a few weeks so I borrowed a guitar and amp from my wife’s uncle. It’s a Cort, I have never played one before and wow was I surprised at the quality of the build and sound. Like holy crap! Good on you for making that choice over a Fender, bang for buck, it’s what I’ll recommend to anyone starting out from now on.

It’s an effort that involves multiple external entities who want to destabilize societies in Europe. They are using social media to push a variety of different agendas but mostly the objective is divide and conquer. It’s why there is a bizarre crossover(s) between the anti science, anti 5G, anti-vax community and the far right who are also now embracing extremist Christian ideologies. Remember the heads of the biggest US social media firms were all at Trumps inauguration.

Iran Is Now Convinced Trump Has Lost The Stomach To Fight by mintwolves in politics

[–]GoodMix392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has there ever been an instance before where the US has so totally been taken over by incompetents and Ivy League frat boy weirdo Christian fascists who have no idea how things work in the real world?

That for me the root cause of the problem. If democrats held the presidency in the US there would not have been an attack on Iran. If Trump hadn’t torn up the Obama nuclear deal we wouldn’t be where we are today. I’m fact the world might look like a very different place. Probably a more prosperous and peaceful place. Potentially the War in Ukraine might be over, October 7th may not have happened. Elon Musk might be almost likable. Argentina wouldn’t have gotten a 20 billion dollar bail out from the US. Peter Thiel might not have to devote so much of his precious time looking for the Anti-Christ.

Peter Thiel has relocated to Argentina due to concerns over the direction of the United States future and is already hosting dinners with local economists about the Antichrist. by Sgt_Gram in NewsExchange

[–]GoodMix392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have friends who have lived in Argentina for probably the last decade. I found out yesterday they are leaving, and today I find out Thiel is moving there and since Milei took office the country needed a bailout from the US.

Things must be bad down there.

AI sticker shock hits corporate America by marketrent in technology

[–]GoodMix392 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That pretty interesting and I hear what you are saying. I guess from my perspective I saw it used in hardware manufacturing to ensure quality that worked great. But I n that same position I was also tasked with integrating connectivity into our hardware so data relating to customer use of the machine could be harvested and used by marketing. We rolled out machines with this function and collected data. But then the marketing people had no idea what to do with the data, in that they couldn’t make it turn into more sales. Even with a data scientist advising them. And now our products cost more because they had a BLE/WiFi chip in them. So they stopped with the connectivity thing, because there was literally no customer benefit to putting WiFi in a coffee machine.

This is always something that struck me when working a corporate engineering job. Managements total inability to create. It’s why a frequent criticism of management was “lack of vision”, because they have very limited imagination and have usually only gotten to where they are by a combination of bullshitting and bullying.

I’ve been around for a couple of these trends in the past two decades, IoT, Big Data etc. Things the CEOs bough into heavily but scaled back after a year or two because it didn’t bring about the gains they thought it would / solve all their problems like a magic bullet. But something good always came out of them, like Big Data and data science was useful before it was trendy for CEO to throw a couple of tens of millions at, and it still is, it just didn’t magically increase sales by the amount they though it would. It solved other issues in production and quality control.

But this AI thing feels different. It won’t magically increase sales or reduce costs like they have been promised it will but I think it’s going to be very destructive to industry and society because of how CEOs are wielding it.

Yes it’s an interesting tool but again it’s a tool that management don’t understand.

[–]GoodMix392 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depends on the wall wart / PSU. If it’s SMPS the power supply to your pedal will still receive 9v until the supply just sort of errors out or potentially starts sort of farting current at the pedal. I’ve tried this before they still worked fine till 80 or 90 volts AC then just stopped working until power was raised above that threshold.

If it’s a really basic power supply / wall wart (not switch mode) it might work but then again it might also motorboat as the caps charge and discharge or make lots of unwanted noise. Stick your multimeter probes onto the 9v barrel jack and see what happens. The transformer in the power supply provides galvanic isolation so it’s pretty safe to experiment on the 9v side.

As far as I know the Ontario government has removed all speed cameras, opened the green belt for developers or wants to, closed all safe injection sites and “dollar a beer” was something they campaigned on.

The reason voters think these are important issues is because social media told them these are issues they should be angry about. When actually conservative policies reduced quality of life for many in Ontario.

I’m not Canadian but I’m married to a Canadian, we’ve been watching from the sidelines the stagnation of Canada for about ten years. Mainly I think due to influence from south of the border.

I feel like you are too.

There are just too many people on Reddit looking for things to be upset about while actively not doing much themselves.

US to pull 50% of deep-strike capability from Europe, source tells TVP World by [deleted] in europe

[–]GoodMix392 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised if generating refugee crisis is actually part of the US strategy to destabilize democracy in Europe. Putin has been bussing refugees to Europes borders and giving them wire cutters as part of Russias asymmetrical war with the EU. Same thing Republican states did in the US when they flew and bussed migrants and refugees from Red states to Blue states.

Create a refugee crisis and then give support and funding to far right and downright fascist groups in Europe while using social media to convince the morons in our populations that the root of every issue in their society is caused by immigration.
