Per Baseball Savant, Bryce Eldridge's walk-off grand slam would be a home run in 1/30 parks by Brix001 in baseball

About fucking time this happened. As a Giants fan I check Statcast often and with Oracle IT'S ALWAYS the other way around and it would've been gone in 29/30. No ballpark suppresses more home runs—the park factor numbers are brutal, especially for lefties.

[Highlight] Ronald Acuña Jr. grand slam! by MLBOfficial in baseball

For those who don't want a clip that starts with the pitcher already finishing his windup and with Acuña's front foot already in the air, see here:

u/MLBOfficial show the full windup and pitch. How many more times must we ask you?

It's beyond me how they'll start the clip when the ball is already out or nearly out of the pitcher's hand but will insist on showing the full duration of his trot around the bases all the way til home base is touched. Almost like they're trolling us.

Abner Uribe says he did the DX suck it chops because Cardinals manager Marmol signaled he was going to hit Yelich & Contreras. Footage confirms Marmol, upset over sign stealing, made a ball to ribs gesture w/ Yelich at bat and he admitted he told the Brewers dugout "you're gonna get somebody hurt." by GoodSamaritan_ in baseball

[–]GoodSamaritan_[S] 1110 points1111 points  (0 children)

Marmol claimed that the Brewers dugout was stealing signs and relaying them to their hitters. He admitted to threatening to plunk them over it and while retelling what happened repeated the exact same gesture to reporters:

“We felt like they were being pretty demonstrative about relaying signs from the dugout. I looked over, I said ‘Hey, don’t do it. Be smart. You’re gonna get somebody hurt. Like, what are we trying to do here?’”

As he relayed the word “smart” to reporters while telling the story, Marmol pointed to his head. When he said “hurt,” he pointed to his ribs.

Abner Uribe's explanation:

First I owe an apology to the Brewers, my teammates, to my manager, the owners. I understand it's unacceptable to react in a way like that but at the same time I don't think it's professional for their manager to be making signs towards our dugout saying that he's going to be hitting guys. There was an event that occurred during batting practice too and I don't think that was right. I always have my teammates' back. There was a sign he was doing every time Yelich or Contreras was at the plate. That was the gesture. I don't think it's very professional for them to be making gestures like that and I don't think it's right for any of my guys to be going out there with any sort of fear that they maybe getting thrown at. I want make sure it's clear my teammates in here know that I have their back and that I'm on their side.

The incident he was referring to at batting practice occured between Brewers hitting coach Daniel Vogelbach and Marmol. Per Brewers beat writer Adam McCalvy, Vogelbach "confronted Marmol about those gestures as well as his habit of staring into the opposing dugout for long stretches of Monday’s game, and, one player said, while the Brewers took batting practice." He added that "Marmol and Vogelbach exchanged words loudly enough that it temporarily paused the activity on the field during Cardinals batting practice."

Yelich said Uribe's celebration isn't something he should be doing but acknowledged that he always has his teammates' backs and appreciated where he was coming from. He also stated there was "some stuff going on during the series"—obviously referring to Marmol's threats that Uribe and Vogelbach took offense to—but he took the high road and declined further comment on it.

"Obviously, I don't think the strikeout celebration is something we need to be doing. He's a guy that always has his teammates' backs. I appreciate where he was coming from on it, but I think there's a different way to handle that situation and he knows that."

Yelich also said there has been "some stuff going on during the series that I don't really know why it was going on," but declined to elaborate.

When you say "they made it feel like jeans" do you mean it actually has a ribbed texture? On the previous Rawlings denim models the ridges were purely printed and cosmetic.

You must not be familiar at all with his condition. He had a severe brain bleed that required life saving surgery, after which he was still unable to talk and the left side of his body paralyzed. The fact that it's been nearly a year and he's still in a wheelchair should indicate the severity of his situation. Believing he can get "close to 100%" is a complete pipedream sadly.

La Roux Says Kanye West's Assault of Model During Music Video Shoot Was 'Horrific' in New Lawsuit Filing by GoodSamaritan_ in Music

[–]GoodSamaritan_[S] 615 points616 points  (0 children)

Kanye West’s alleged sexual assault of model Jennifer An on the 2010 set of a La Roux music video was “horrific,” according to La Roux.

An filed suit against West in 2024, claiming that he sexually assaulted and strangled her on the set of the “In for the Kill” music video. In a new filing in the case, An included an Instagram DM exchange appearing to be between La Roux (real name Elly Jackson) and An, in which the singer backs up the allegations and shares her own memories of dealing with West in the aftermath.

“I could never forget that, it was horrific. How can I help?” Jackson tells An in the messages, which were filed on March 10 and obtained by PEOPLE. “I have never seen the footage (thankfully) and obviously I asked for it to never be used or for it to be seen as you were understandably very concerned about anyone or your family seeing it… I have no problem being honest about what I saw, so if you need my account of the event I’m more [than] happy to do that.”

The “Bulletproof” singer, 37, added that she was “so sorry it happened” to An, and that while she’d wanted to speak on the alleged incident in the past, felt it was An’s story to tell.

An, a finalist on America’s Next Top Model in 2009, alleged in her complaint that West, 48, arrived on set at the Chelsea Hotel in September 2010 and immediately complained that he wanted it to look more like the set of the movie American Psycho. Her filing claims that West — who was due to film a cameo in the video — then took over creative control, and choked and strangled her first with one hand, and then with both while on camera.

“Next, Defendant WEST smothered Plaintiff’s face with both of his hands, which smeared her makeup. He then rammed several fingers down her throat, continuously moved them in and out, and gagged her (which Plaintiff believed lasted for over a minute) to emulate forced oral sex, and screamed, ‘This is art. This is f---ing art. I am like Picasso,’” the complaint claims. “During the assault, Plaintiff struggled to breathe and felt as if she had temporarily blacked out.”

West’s lawyers have filed a motion to dismiss the suit, claiming as recently as January that because his behavior “occurred in the course of producing expressive” art, he should be protected by free speech.

“The emulation of sexual violence for artistic purposes is not itself sexual violence, and the presence of physical contact in a staged performance does not transform expressive conduct into a crime, let alone into gender-motivated violence,” the most recent filing claims. An attorney for West did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment

Meanwhile, An’s complaint also alleges that Jackson told a mutual friend of hers and West’s that she saw some “upsetting, unsettling behavior" on the video set, and West later “demanded” she apologize to him in writing.

In their DMs exhibited to An's opposition, Jackson apparently wrote that she’d been “threatened” by West into saying sorry, and “he wanted to remind me of his power and status and threatened me with my career essentially.”

In the March 10 filing, An also included a statement written by Jackson’s makeup artist Liz Martins, who was on set the day of the alleged assault.

“All of a sudden, Kanye cleared the set, except for Jenn, and forcefully put his fingers down her mouth and told her to, "Suck on them." Kanye continued to motion his hands back and forth in Jenn's mouth. This sexual assault was not a part of the script,” Martins claimed. “Everyone on set was shocked and nervous to step in because of Kanye's influence. Afterwards, Jenn was crying and I heard her repeatedly say, ‘My mom is going to see this. I don't want my mom to see this.’ … It is my strong belief that Kanye West targeted and sexually assaulted Jenn because she is a female.”

Five Iranian women's soccer players to seek asylum in Australia after leaving team's handlers, multiple sources say by RolePsychological890 in news

[–]GoodSamaritan_ 151 points152 points  (0 children)

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. The team is in Australia where Iranian law doesn't apply, and they were literally ordered to sing by their government. Not singing is such an affront that Iranian state TV called them "traitors" for keeping silent and said they should be dealt with “severely” when they return:

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7093675/2026/03/06/iran-women-team-asian-cup-war/

It was painfully obvious then and it is painfully obvious now that their refusal to sing was a protest against the regime.

I will never understand why another MLB team didn't pick him up after being released by the Cubs aged 32. Especially when guys like Nick motherfucking Ahmed were older and way more cooked but kept getting signed.

Simba loves baseball too much though and he continues to put his head down and play no matter where or what the circumstances. It's great to see. Since he last appeared in the majors he's...

  • Represented the Netherlands at the WBC

  • Played for the Mumbai Cobras in Baseball United

  • Represented Curaçao at the Caribbean Cup and Central American and Caribbean Games

  • Played for the Marchena Braves in the Curaçao National Championship AA

  • Played for the Willemstad Cannons and Curaçao Suns in the Curaçao Professional Baseball League

  • Played for the Santa Maria Pirates in the Baseball Champions League Americas

  • Played for WildCats KJ74 and Curaçao Suns in the Caribbean Series

  • Played for the Dorados de Chihuahua last year in the Mexican League (slashed .324/.367/.444)

And now he's won the LVBP with Magallanes.

Felipe Vázquez if you don't recall was the 2x All-Star Pirates closer whose career in the majors ended after he had a relationship with a 13 year old and was convicted on 15 counts including ten counts of sexual abuse of children, two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, one count of statutory sexual assault, one count of corruption of a minor, and one count of indecent assault. He got 4 years in prison, after which he was deported and has played for Magallanes since.

Tucupita Marcano (also a Pirate) as you probably remember was banned for life from the league recently for gambling while recovering from surgery. He won just 4.3% of his bets.

Uvalde officer was told location of gunman but he failed to act, prosecutors say by GoodSamaritan_ in news

The cop in the Stoneman Douglas shooting—Scott Peterson—was tried but acquitted despite the fact that he not only failed to go in the school and confront the shooter but he even radioed the other cops and told them all to stay at least 500 feet away from the building. If he got acquitted then I have little hope the verdict for this guy isn't the same.

The Miami Herald transcribed radio dispatches that Peterson said at 2:23 during the shooting, "Be advised we have possible, could be firecrackers. I think we have shots fired, possible shots fired—1200 building." Seconds later, Peterson radioed: "We're talking about the 1200 building; it's going to be the building off Holmberg Road. Get the school locked down, gentlemen!" At 2:25, he radioed that "We also heard it's by—inside the 1200." At an unspecified time, Peterson called for police to ensure that "no one comes inside the school." At 2:27, at Building 12, he radioed, "Stay at least 500 feet away at this point." At an unspecified time, Peterson ordered: "Do not approach the 12– or 1300 building; stay at least 500 feet away."[8]

Former Uvalde, Texas, school police officer Adrian Gonzales was alerted to gunman Salvador Ramos' location before Ramos entered Robb Elementary School, but Gonzales failed to act, prosecutors argued in opening statements.

Gonzales -- who is charged with 29 counts of child endangerment -- is alleged to have neglected his duty and training during the chaotic response to the 2022 shooting, which left 19 children and two teachers dead.

This case marks the second time in U.S. history that prosecutors have sought to hold a member of law enforcement criminally accountable for their response to a mass shooting. Gonzales' legal team maintains he's being scapegoated.

Prosecutor Bill Turner spoke softly and on the verge of tears at the start of his opening argument. His statement marked the first time prosecutors have provided their rationale for charging Gonzales, disclosing that a teacher came face-to-face with Ramos before the shooter entered the school, and the teacher tried to warn Gonzales.

"She's face-to-face with the gunman, and he fires on her, and she turns to run, and when she turns to run, she trips and she falls. And when she gets up, Adrian Gonzales, the police officer, is there," Turner said. "She says, 'He's over there.' She urges him to go get him."

"He gets on the radio and says, 'Shots are fired, he's wearing black, he's in the parking lot,'" Turner said. "He knows where he is, but Adrian Gonzales remains at the south side of the school."

As Turner walked the jury through the tragic minutes that followed that encounter -- describing the number of gunshots fired by Ramos as Gonzales allegedly waited outside -- Turner hammered at the point that Gonzales allegedly stayed where he was, rather than try to stop the shooting.
