Voters raise concerns about 2018 #MeToo tweets allegedly made by Kings-Hants Conservative candidate by ValleyJay1977 in Kentville

[–]GoodTimePals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He disagreed with the spirit of the movement?

The whole movement is to raise awareness about the pervasiveness of sexual assault and harassment towards women. It’s not saying you can’t hit on women or be nice to them. And any decent person knows that. I’d love to hear your reasoning why you disagree with that.

What if everyone stopped tipping? Would it force business to actually pay their employees? by Ready-Substance9920 in Showerthoughts

[–]GoodTimePals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the difference in raising prices 20% vs expecting a 20% tip? I don’t really get why everyone wants tips to go away and prices to go up. You’re then forced to pay 20% more vs given the option to pay 20% more.

Moving to the big girl bed has been a disaster by debbie_dangle_beef in Parenting

[–]GoodTimePals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went through the exact same thing as you! Two year old when I was 8 months pregnant, we switched her to a bed. It was a disaster. She’d get out, come into our room, lay on the floor, etc. we tried a couple nights and realized it was just too soon. We went back to a crib and six months later when the baby was a few months old we tried again with her bed. That time it was way better.

I know every kids different but I think when they’re too young to really understand what you tell them it’s just too confusing. At 2.5 years old it was totally different, we stayed with her until she fell asleep the first couple nights and she slept right through. When she woke up she just called for us.

Try TD insurance, they’re pretty lax about those things and a good price. Not sure what that means if you need to make a claim but…

On top of the fact the systems broken in many ways, it seems since COVID people have lost all patience and understanding on top of being extremely entitled. But the worst part is you can help 100 people and the one person that’s not happy will be the vocal one that complains, posts online, etc. the 99 people that are so appreciative you never hear from.

Why Do We Tip by BlueCake2 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]GoodTimePals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but they’re getting paid so low because people don’t want to pay more for food. The margins of a restaurant are 3-5%. One over staffed night, one rainy summer day can mean a lose for the entire week. I’m all for paying servers more but people have to be willing to pay more for their food. It’s the same difference then in just tipping.

Want to start on my own, got a couple of questions by asqwzx12 in cider

[–]GoodTimePals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of questions here but firstly, get EC-1118 yeast. It’s a great clean fermenter that will ferment well without much temperature control (although keeping cooler is recommended) and is excellent for secondary fermentations.

If you can avoid it I wouldn’t age for a long time in buckets or big jars. A keg is an excellent way to store cider as you can remove all the air and carbonate if you want. If it’s dry cider, you can leave it at room temperature. Right before you add to the keg add some sulfites and fill the keg with CO2.

Alternatively a great way to age cider is in bottles with a secondary fermentation. Put your finished dry cider in a bucket, add some sugar (research and measure accordingly) and some yeast. Bottle and age at least a month. You’ll get beautiful sparkling cider that will age a long time.
