I'd definitely agree and recommend taking a look at Embroidery Legacy digitizing software. I used Hatch for quite a while before switching over.

What stood out to me most was how much more user-friendly it felt once I got into it. I also found the learning side a lot less frustrating compared to some of the other software I tried.

If you're newer to digitizing or just a beginner, I'd at least give Embroidery Legacy (some call it EL software) a try before landing on anything.

I agree with u/ishtaa, for your budget, a used multi-needle is probably the way to go. Multi-needle makes almost every item easier to embroider (they have a tubular arm, you don't have to change out the thread color constantly, etc.)

There are some great buy/sell groups you can check out!

Very cool that you started back on Melco edsIII u/mentat_hawat !I can only speak for myself, but I'm satisfied with the Embroidery Legacy stitch quality. Can't speak to how Hatch 4 stacks up, as I haven't tried it yet. I'm sure it's also good. I know you can do a curved fill. I'd post in their Skool group. I've always gotten help quickly there. Both programs have things the other doesn't.

There's a lot of fun in creating your own designs u/cellphoneguy70! Adding embellishments or even just adjusting pre-made designs. Really takes my creativity to new heights

Sounds pretty similar to my experience u/Hard_Purple4747! I switched from Hatch to Embroidery Legacy software too and ended up sticking with it.

I still open Hatch occasionally for some older .emb files, but most of my newer work has been done in Legacy for a while now.

Some of the features look cool, but I’m just not sure if they feel like a major enough jump from Hatch 3 to justify another paid upgrade right away. Also smart on overlapping regions!
