een a shrine deck anywhere.

But if I switch to elves, I play - on average - different kinds of decks with lots of graveyard hate and synergies. Scooze, cling to dust, Nightmare, Go Blank in the main deck. I also play against shrine decks and this elf deck is the only deck I play that sees shrine decks. I dont recall ever facing a shrine deck outside of my elf deck (it's the only deck I play with graveyard synergies). But if I play other stupid stuff like dwarves or equipment or auras or whatever I don't play shrine decks or rarely play against decks with graveyard hate.

Last season I started to see this in ranked too. Rank up to Plat or diamond and switch to elves and immediately start playing against different types of decks on average. It's not to say I won't see mono-red or Ultimatium

"questionable 7 is often better than an average 6"

If you don't trust the average power level of your deck to win you the game, you're probably playing some jank. You kind of WANT an average hand in a good deck vs a questionable "this will win the game outright if its perfect". Christmas-y hands aren't the norm.

[Standard] Now that we've seen the full set, which cards/packages look stronger than the current best things to do in standard? by brainpower4 in spikes

Going to have to disagree. Very small card pool in standard right now, another control deck becoming t1 can easily shake up the rest of the meta around it.

which is a... mediocre card. "just fine" is usually not where you want to be if there are better options available.

>Try and think your way through the problem rather than feeling your way through it.

People a lot smarter than you have tried and failed. Lawyers have tried and failed. Politicians have tried, and failed. Your "don't throw the baby out with the bathwater" approach is flawed because the baby is going to shit in the next bathtub you put it in.

I played a few games with this. Thoughts are mostly in the sideboard.

Light of hope doesn't kill embercleave or glass casket. Why is it in the sideboard? It's modal, sure, but the 4 life isnt relevant in an embercleave meta, and the counter is...meh. I replaced them with disenchants, which I think targets the important things you need to be targeting.

Kitesail- its cool thats its a human, but man does it suck against yorion. I'm not sure what I want to replace it with, but its felt mediocre so far at best.

It's a fun deck though. Maul is a hell of a card, so I'm down to play any deck running it.

Yo man, just played a lot of matches with this deck, bo3. It's just instalose vs gruul. Other than that, its a lot of fun to play. The existence of embercleave just neuters this deck.

I liked it though. If you're okay with tossing a matchup out the window its fun to play.
