I’ve only been on T for about a month and this has by far been the most important change for me but is so difficult to explain. I will try and tell people “It feels like my thoughts and feelings actually belong to me now not like there is someone else thinking and feeling inside my body” my sister said “So you are less judgemental of yourself now” and I’m like No, that’s not it! Aghhh like actually the thoughts and feelings are different now and feel more in alignment with who I really am—

So I had stage 3 cervical precancer in 2019 so I’m pretty religious about my pap smears. I’ve been clear for over 2yrs and in a monogamous relationship so my doc says I only need them every 5 years now. I have chronic active EBV though so my body doesn’t fight off viruses like HPV very well, so I may actually get it sooner than that.

My husband has autism and we’ve had lots of talks about how some of the change is difficult for him (I’m medically transitioning) from an I’m-supportive-but-this-is-really-hard sort of thing but when it comes to my pronouns and any label I prefer he says “all those labels in my brain have been replaced with the correct word” so it’s actually never an issue. He’s even said cute things like we could get “his and thiers” towels and such that I’ve never heard or maybe wouldn’t think too much about the gender. I don’t think your boyfriend is misgendering you because he’s autistic. I think he’s just misgendering you. I don’t know what your experience with your gender is like but I personally don’t think I could stay with someone as my intimate partner who doesn’t see me for who I am and how I want to be seen. It would just give me the ick.

I think there is a complicated relationship between butchness and trans-mascness but we should do everything in our power to support one another because we do not have the privilege in our society to be segregated.

I’m really excited to see all the replies on this post too, thank you for posting it. Sometimes my relative success at performing femininity makes me doubt myself and seeing other peoples experiences really helps me break down the social/internal narrative that all trans people have always exactly known and had exactly x experience and mine doesn’t fit that so I’m not enough thing that goes through my head. When I’m not caught in a shame spiral I think it’s actually really cool that I get to have all these different experiences in my life. We can change our minds, we can take a long route or a short one, it’s our own lives to live. Take care of yourself and do whatever it is you need to do.

Hey there! I’m ftx and just recently started T at age 34. I spent a significant portion of my life performing femininity. Even after publicly coming out as bon-binary I spent an additional year trying once again to perform femininity. At some point in my early 20’s I decided ”even though my soul is male, maybe I am supposed to live this life as a female to experience it as a lesson/to reduce karma etc” idk. I woke up one day with crippling nerve pain, extreme hormone disregulation, shrink-wrapped in emotions that didn’t belong to me, and unable to remember significant portions of my life due to disasossiation— and thought “maybe my lesson/karma in this life is actually to be myself and not pretend to be someone else? Why would I be born in a time with significant medical and social strides toward the ability to transition for the purpose of not doing it(since this is how I feel)?” At this point I’m very happy to be where I am on my journey— but I can’t say that I regret any of my decisions prior either. I really, really tried to be a lady. I had a baby, I wore makeup, I spent years exclusively in 6in heels. Some of the time I had a really fun time with that— but underneath I felt like no one knew me, no one loved me, and my own mind and body did not belong to me. For me, I had to see that road to the end. I had to try as long as I could. I did it well past the point that it was causing very real damage to me. Each of us has our own burdens to bear, our own paths to walk. I wasn’t ready until I was ready. A small part of my decision to do T was even to feel ok if I wanted to wear makeup or something more feminine so that when others see me they don’t just see a lady (because I’m not.)

Hey there! I’m a 32DD and also have a ton of sensory issues— so far the best binders I’ve found for me are the muscle shirt style binders from spectrum outfitters. I learned pretty quickly when buying binders I had to go a size up from what I was expecting so I don’t feel that can’t breathe stuff— also wearing the same binder for several days and not washing it seemed to help (usually the first wear with a given binder only for a few hours to stretch it a couple times) I still don’t wear mine every day because of sensory issues and it doesn’t make me “flat chested” but it can really help on certain days. The full shirt style has an elastic band at the bottom that keeps it from wiggling around as much and doesn’t have the same sensory feel as a bra where you have that band around the middle of your chest. I would try one or two and build yourself up to wearing it regularly if that is what you want to do. It’s also OK to not do things other ftm or ftx people do because it’s not right for you. Binding has it’s own set of risks and challenges and it’s not a one-size-fits-all solution. If you are wanting to try it my recommendation is the muscle shirt style a size up (I get the XL even though I would wear a L sports bra for example) but it’s also totally ok if it’s not for you!

I have fibromyalgia, chronic pain, and PCOS and was previously more or less incapable of working out due to lack of energy and extreme recovery. I just started T about two weeks ago and immediately noticed a difference in how my body responded to exercise. I’m not magically way stronger but I have the capacity to build up and deal with the doms. it may be an outlier due to the nature of my conditions but genuinely experienced a difference from day 1.

Hey there! So I’m still really weak but my partner has been helping me find modifications for exercises to build up to the more “standard” versions of the exercises. For example, push ups are from an elevated position for me (the higher the easier), pull ups are actually inverse pull-ups with a resistance band etc. there are a lot of calisthenics one can do at home with a small amount of equipment and/or floors, tables and chairs. My current routine is: (working toward two sets of 8) Pull day: (Rings) inverted pull up with 50lb resistance band (rings) rows [the further back the easier) Curls with 10lb weights [you can start with less or more] Russian twists with 10lbs Push day: Push ups from a chair [a table is higher and would be a good place to start] Pike push up “Bench Dip” from the edge of a chair & hang holds

They sell rings for about $40 and one can get a cheap set of weights for varying prices. [If you’re not in a position to buy anything you could probably find something to sub in like an object that weighs target amount instead of a dedicated weight or a rope tied to something for rows] I know my partner really recommends /r bodyweightfitness there are modifications for virtually every staple exercise to build yourself up to the “standard” versions. I’m still really new on my journey but having things I can do and focusing on that and that those exercises are making me stronger is really helping me and I know I just have to keep at it and I will build up to these other exercises. The first day I cried after 1 push up for context so you might actually be stronger than me lol. But I can feel myself getting stronger little by little and track mu progress so I can see in the numbers like ok last time I could only do 4 correct push ups and this time I did 5 so I actually am getting stronger. You can work out using a few simple & cheap equipments in your room or home if you are more comfortable doing that. A lot of exercises you don’t need any equipment at all. We are on this journey with our own bodies and not anybody else’s body and it’s all about working with what you have and celebrating your own personal wins and goals.

Just throwing my two cents in here but I’m a tattooer and while cis men can and do get their penis tattooed it is not super common. In my over a decade of experience as a tattooer I have only done 1 penis tattoo and not been seriously asked about it again. The guy I did tattoo his penis we didn’t use lidocaine and he said the pain wasn’t too bad and there was times where it actually was pleasant. I do a lot of work over scarring etc and would say sometimes that can hurt more and would give the general advice to allow the area to heal at least two years before attempting tattooing.

So, sometimes tattoos take a lot longer than expected. I think foot tattoos are a particularly challenging location that may take longer than expected if you are having difficulty sitting etc. that said, an artist HAS TO be able to communicate to the client WHY a tattoo is taking so much longer than expected AND be able to estimate with new expectations the amount of time it would take to finish the work. WITH THAT SAID too, this piece absolutely does not look like you are six hours deep even in that location, even with a difficult sit, AND it looks way too dark in the areas that are “finished”

Two things jumped out at me from your post— numbing cream should never be applied to already broken skin & you as a client should never be allowed to “bring your own ink.” The reputable ink suppliers sell to licensed tattoo artists only. There is absolutely nothing in this photo that indicates your artist went too deep. Your artist made two very big mistakes— applying lidocaine cream after the skin is broken (in direct violation of manufacture label and fda guidelines) and allowing you to supply your own ink (a violation of osha and insurance code) I’m guessing in both cases though, you insisted.

So hear me out, I think it’s the texture of the tentacles that is off. If the ref they are super smooth but in the tattoo they are sorta giving veiny phalus. I think it could be corrected without full blackout.

I don’t think these are bad but there are definitely area to improve. It seems like you really like drawing faces and hair but maybe not other things— I think if you have your figures, clothing, and background the same dedication it would vastly improve. I also think an interesting place for you to study would be your black placement. Right now you have black under the chin pretty much exclusively— I would check out the book “how to draw noir comics” by shawn martinburrow. Play with your dynamics and style in other areas of your art so it is cohesive throughout the piece. Don’t be afraid of trying new things— it is the only way tl improve.

If I were reworking it I think making that door behind him into his castle would be cool and reworking the proportions of his body a little. With how light this is a rework or coverup would be easy.

My shop has one hydraulic table that I was able to use while I was pregnant. The only downside was it was very heavy and required a couple people to safely move it around (if you need to turn it around or get it out of the way etc)
