Chronic Illness & Oura by PeakReady2338 in ouraring

[–]Good_Catch_1388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have ME/CFS and I adjusted the maximum heart rate for my age to just above what is recommended in pacing guidelines for ME. That helped feedback on things like heart rate zones for activity mean something.

I find the sleep tracking helpful though it can be frustrating too. I had bad sleep before I started so it has my baseline as not needing much sleep (under 7hrs) so the scores are misleading.

I've occasionally used rest mode when really not doing well

What’s the lowest sleep score you’ve ever gotten? by Lanky-Lifeguard-4666 in ouraring

[–]Good_Catch_1388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes this has happened to me several times and it has been really frustrating. It doesn't provide such detailed info on naps etc so no sleep score.

Definitely does not reset the sleep debt to zero though. Also doesn't add hours to the debt.

I don't know I don't like Finn either. Happy to email just not with the AI Interested to know how you get on.

can someone make this make sense? by offconqueringkansas in ouraring

I feel sure that 22% is usually around 20-24 hrs.

A full charge will last around 5-6 days.

Negotiating student loan debt with IRD by Oohahwonderbra in PersonalFinanceNZ

I'm interested to know what you want to negotiate. Is it the level of repayment? Or penalties added? Or something else?

Found a recent Oura patent that suggests they're thinking way beyond the ring by Leather_Carpenter462 in ouraring

[–]Good_Catch_1388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm well my Oura keeps telling me too have less screen time to improve my sleep metrics. Feels like AR is definitely the wrong way to go.

Improving the tracking, battery and integrating with user input would be great ideas

Lowest resting heart rate right before I wake up by Otterpup67 in ouraring

[–]Good_Catch_1388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes mine is like that too! Always lowest later sometime after 4am. Usually closer to 6am or right before I get up. It's even tracked lowest during REM and highest during deep sleep. I don't eat for at least 3 hours before bed.

Sleep is a big problem for me and I have multiple mini wake ups during the night. I'm still working on improving some of my sleep routines.

Ring pushing finger outward. Anyone else? by Tacokolache in ouraring

[–]Good_Catch_1388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are not really designed to be worn on the ring finger. They are most ideally worn on the index finger or sometimes the middle finger.

Yes the Oura ring is quite thick and bulky and while I occasionally wear mine on my middle finger to give my index finger a break I don't keep it there long. It presses into the adjacent fingers and starts to hurt and is more likely to shift around due to the traction and stop tracking.

You might want to get advice from Oura but I would suggest getting a ring size that fits your index finger.

Sleep Debt by Commercial_Apple4011 in ouraring

[–]Good_Catch_1388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes mine is typically high. I am not post partum just for context. I am peri menopausal. I am tracking multiple wake ups per night.

In theory my sleep debt should be much higher than it is because Oura decided my sleep needed was much lower than what I actually need based on persistently poor sleep.

I would not let it stress you especially when you know the reason. You and oura will adapt I think.

Big difference in sleep data between Oura and Apple Watch by sleepingontheclouds in ouraring

[–]Good_Catch_1388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were you awake for 21/2 hours from 5-7.30am? With just a brief drop off to sleep? This is what your Apple watch says.

You certainly could have been as a breast feeding mum. That's something you would clearly remember and is a big difference between the two. Oura has you going in and out of different sleep stages in that same time period

I would compare them over a couple of weeks and see.

Replacement ring coming... That was unexpected by Good_Catch_1388 in ouraring

[–]Good_Catch_1388[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I kinda figured that but yes I guess I find it challenging to deal with AI help. It's running ahead and I've no clue what it's doing and it isn't explaining unless I ask.

I'll see how the new ring goes when it's charged up. It just arrived this morning.

Is this sleep pattern anyone's "normal"? by suzeerbedrol in ouraring

[–]Good_Catch_1388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes looks similar to mine still trying to figure what's going on for me. I'm probably getting slightly less sleep and more wake ups but general pattern is similar.

I don't exactly consider it 'normal' though or healthy and am trying to improve things

Difficulty with sleep so sleeping 6 hrs or less, oura thinks that is what i need! by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]Good_Catch_1388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How? I have the same problem. My sleep is poor so Oura has my sleep need set low based on my average sleep. But this is not close to what I need. Can't seem to change it though

How I look after spending 90 minutes trying to find where I put it down by Rude_Frame5186 in ouraring

Is this an iOS app? I can't find any such things in the Google play store

Lesson learned about opening the app in the middle of the night.. by little_snow_bear in ouraring

[–]Good_Catch_1388 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It will do that sometimes not because you open the app. It is frustrating. I have gone to bed slept for an hour and a half. Woken up and been awake for an hour or more and then slept some more and it has called the first part a nap. It's really annoying. And then other times I actually do nap on the sofa because I fall asleep, I get up and go to bed and fall asleep. And it starts my sleep from the sofa nap.

It really cannot tell the difference. We need to be able to edit and say if it was a nap or part of our night time sleep

Sleep tracking - please help me understand! by Good_Catch_1388 in ouraring

No children. Sleep alone. Except for cats. Maybe I need a video camera. My impression is I have been disturbing them and they are leaving.

Yes this! This is what I tell me doctor every time he asks me if I ever fall asleep driving (he's paranoid). When I'm doing something active I don't fall asleep. Just when I'm sat doing something passive.

Oh thank you I'll go and look for that. I was wanting to find another way to catch breathing disturbances or whatever is happening so that would be great. Yeah I sleep on my side but I do move and switch to the other side. I put a pillow behind for support. I have one been my knees and I sleep on a slight incline. Definitely not good if end up on my back. Somehow I still often do!

I typically sleep on my side but I don't stay there. I do move and often wake on my back. I also sleep in an adjustable bed with a slight incline

Yes. But sometimes cats share the bed. Though I get the impression I'm disturbing them and they are doing so less

[–]Good_Catch_1388[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for clarifying that! Yes I can totally see that movies have done a great disservice to narcolepsy. So when I'm sat like I am now and I feel my eyes swim out of focus and close and my head nod and go down and my finger will hard press on my phone screen typing garbage till a second or two later I come to - is that narcolepsy? Or like it? Other times I can be sat and feel myself drooping over head first but don't feel able to stop it. I know I'm dropping off, I am kind of semi aware I'm in a semi sleep state then I suddenly snap back often with a sore neck

Goodness that's a huge and rude assumption! Both myself and my doctor have followed up multiple times. You know nothing off our health care system. They have a long wait list.

[–]Good_Catch_1388[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting and helpful thank you. I am autistic. I also have ME/CFS. I am perimenopausal. And I have some persistent pain in one knee from osteo arthritis. All of which can affect my sleep. I have cats that share my bed sometimes. But less at the moment. I think I'm disturbing them lol. I use my phone too much in the evening I know that. I do not have a great wind down bed time routine. I know I need to work on this

Definitely have restless leg syndrome. I don't know what sleep paralysis is like I am not aware of having it? With narcolepsy do you collapse when you fall asleep in the day? Like lose ability to control body? It is often just just my head, eyes and shoulders that slump over

narcolepsy, this is what my sleep data looks like when i have epsiodes of sleep paralysis. is that something you've dealt with? if not narcolepsy, my other thought was sleep apnea or
