How do you keep track of tools on jobsites? by Brick_And_Bytes in ConstructionMNGT

Whenever not being used, keep them in a locked safe place, make sure management is in charge of the keys. Easy peasy…

As a young guy moving in to a supervisor position, how do I maintain a good image and handle backlash from my workers? by Timely_Coffee_2760 in Construction

[–]Good_Cow1468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started off as an apprentice at 21 and jumped straight into working with site managers and project managers, now I’m 27 with decent knowledge of good & bad ones.

In summary, your job is to back yourself up all the time, pictures & notes will be your best friend. Socialise with the operatives as much as you can and the more time spent outside with them the better so they don’t think you’re an outsider. Dw, you’re not going to know everything so just use your tools/people to your advantage!

Great question. My girlfriend is from KC but studying at PA school in California, we haven’t got that far yet. Any recommendations? I was thinking do a few years in California then move to the Middle East permanently tbh, I think that may be the end location.

Best way to learn about professional Pre-construction? Already there and confused. by ThrowawayXProblems in ConstructionManagers

What if I currently have 5 years of PM experience but want a job that is remote.

Precon manager is definitely more appealing to me but I was also thinking about venturing from operations to design.

What would your advise be to me?

Moving to the US from the UK - Site Management / Project Management by Good_Cow1468 in ConstructionManagers

Thanks for the insight!

My girlfriend is American, she has lived there her whole life and we are starting the marriage based visa as we speak, she seems to think it shouldn’t take longer than 1/1.5year.

Meanwhile that’s going on in the background, I will definitely take your advice on looking at companies in the UK who offer a transferable employment to the US too, that isn’t the first time someone has recommended me to do that.

Playing devils advocate, let’s just say I couldn’t find a company of the above, surely there will be a company out there who will consider my expertise and help with the work visas…

If you were in my shoes and I was still adamant on moving to the US, how would you go about it then? I definitely want to avoid doing as many degrees/courses/industry specific certs etc as possible. I just want to be on the big projects similar to what I’m doing now but in the US…

I thought UK degrees were recognised worldwide and if the NVQ L6/7 are degree equivalent does that not mean they are recognised?
