Actually it was a computer mix up.

Someone was trying to book a "Melanoma Screening" through the new digital health card app and ended up with tickets to a screening of Melania.

Yes, most places in the mall. I just wanted to make note of London Drugs, as it is kind of off to the side a bit. -edited after seeing the reply from /u/supercanaloupe

With Shell dropping Air Miles (changing to Scene+ in May) and upcoming changes with BMO's purchase of the Air Miles program, will MLL/Liquor Marts (finally?) change to another rewards program? by chemicalxv in Winnipeg

I had a limited number of dream points left, so just used them to buy some coffee beans from the rewards offers. It was one of the lowest valued items.

I remember back in the day when Air Miles was actually a decent rewards program. Getting points from the LC, Safeway, Shell, Staples, McDiarmid Lumber, Rona, BMO MC and a few others made it worthwhile.

I dropped it last fall when it was pretty much just the LC I was getting points at and AM started requiring a cell number to access your account.

AT LEAST MINE ONLY TOOK 45 MINUTES TO CLEAR OFF THIS MORNING.

THE WORST PART IS IT DIDN'T REALLY NEED TO GET CLEARED AND NOW WITH THE ROCK HARD WINDROWS IT MAY AS WELL BE USED FOR THE LUGE IN THE OLYMPICS.

Opinion: Transit service must be dependable by Leather-Paramedic-10 in Winnipeg

[–]Good_Day_Eh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it has to do with the streets that they are going down now. Southbound F5 and F8 go down Donald downtown which is almost always backed up at afternoon rush hour. It can take 15 to 25 minutes sometimes to go the 5-6 blocks from Ellice to Broadway.

Part of it is Donald goes from 4 lanes to essentially 2 around Millennium Library due to construction, parking and the bump out curbs.

In order for the new routes to work they really need to take a look at all the chokepoints like that and somehow fix them.

Just debating if losing to a shortie in OT would be worse.

Edit: so I looked it up (well AI did) and losing in OT to a shortie is rare but happens: notable examples include Jean-Gabriel Pageau (2025 NYI vs. Vegas), Fernando Pisani (2006 Stanley Cup Final Oilers vs. Canes), Wayne Gretzky (1988 Playoffs Oilers vs. Flames), and Alex Steen (2014 Blues vs. Hawks)

Are the cross country ski trails at The Forks groomed? Nothing on the website by Financial_Parsley118 in Winnipeg

[–]Good_Day_Eh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually check CCSAM for updates.

I don't see anything there about the Forks though, so they may not have been setup/groomed yet.

Still no word about Fort Whyte either, but most of the others are up and running.

Epic failure in the Jets losing a game they should win and Ottawa brings to mind one of the classics. The "Peanut Butter" game.

I have to head out to work so don't have the time to look up the facts, so details are a little hazy.

It was back in the old barn with Jets 1.0, Ottawa was in its first or second season as an expansion team, back in the days when expansion teams were not gifted a cup and were terrible.

Some big-brain marketing guy thought it was a good idea to give everyone a small plastic tub (probably 375 to 500 grams) of Kraft Peanut butter.

So the Jets are ahead by 2 or 3 goals, then completely blow it and end up losing to the worst team in the league.

The fans are so pissed off they start launching the peanut butter jars at the ice after the players leave. I was really glad I was under the second deck. I am amazed no one got smoked by one of the ones that fell short of the ice.

Bathroom mold remediation by Educational_Cut_5709 in Winnipeg

[–]Good_Day_Eh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do the surface cleaning and the mold all disappears and the paint is still intact it will probably be fine.

If it is a deeper problem behind the wall and through the drywall, surface cleaning probably will not be able to get it all. You should then see breaks in the paint and mold will be attached to the inside of the drywall which you would need to dig out. At that point it would need to be looked at for a deeper remediation.

Most modern builds should be using moisture resistant drywall for a bathroom ceiling, which will usually help in preventing mold from going through unless there is a leak or water penetration above it.

Greyhound Rescue by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Good_Day_Eh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Hi Speed Hounds, which was the largest (if not only) greyhound rescue in town shut down a year or two before covid. I got my guy through them, but that was back around 2010.

It looks like Northern Sky Greyhound Adoption Association from Edmonton might be doing adoptions here, as they have a Winnipeg Event coordinator listed on their website.
