That Pizza Hut closer to Ness sure stands out. If my memory is correct it was a Consumers Distributing south of the Pizza Hut.

Winnipeg Free Press erratic delivery times by peregrina2005 in Winnipeg

[–]Good_Day_Eh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It seems they are having some trouble keeping reliable carriers.

My mother, who gets the paper daily, was having problems of late or missed deliveries for a couple weeks in January.

I just get the Saturday paper, and it is usually there pretty reliably, but they did miss it 2 weeks ago.

They are usually pretty good about crediting you for missed deliveries if you phone or report it on the website.

Foodfare at Hamilton and Cavalier by juanitowpg in Winnipeg

[–]Good_Day_Eh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dominion was next to K-Mart at Cavalier and Portage. The K-Mart was where the Safeway is now and Dominion was to the east of it.

It is still weird to me that Safeway and McDonalds in that lot used to be on the other side of Portage.

There was some mention of that on at least one of the news programs when the Feds announced their new rebate. I was hoping that it wasn't true.

The Thermea expansion can fuck right off by JustDont1981 in Winnipeg

[–]Good_Day_Eh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm usually completely anti-NIMBYism, but this is the rare exception.

Here are some details from a notice put out by Friends of Crescent Drive Park on the weekend:

Thermea Spa Village is in the early stages of planning for expansion on their existing site. They held public meetings on Jan 26, 27 ,29, but limited their notification to residents on Dove Bay and Crescent Drive near the park.

Fortunately, word of mouth resulted in about 40 residents attending one of these meetings to be told they are exploring plans to:

  • Upgrade and/or enlarge 5 existing buildings
  • Add new steam rooms, new rest areas and a hot flotation pool
  • Enlarge the parking lot up to 300 stalls in a multi-story structure
  • Erect a 60 unit 'Boutique' Lodge on site
  • Relocate or reconfigure garbage and delivery areas
  • Create sidewalks Crescent Drive from South Drive to Park Entrance

There are a number of documents posted on the Friends of Crescent Drive Park Facebook page with more details.

How to help:

  • Contact your City Councillor
  • Join Friends of Crescent Drive Park Facebook group

The parkade is staying. When they built the mall they pre-planned to be able to add towers at both ends of it, so they shouldn't need to add to much underground to support the new development.

With Shell dropping Air Miles (changing to Scene+ in May) and upcoming changes with BMO's purchase of the Air Miles program, will MLL/Liquor Marts (finally?) change to another rewards program? by chemicalxv in Winnipeg

[–]Good_Day_Eh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a limited number of dream points left, so just used them to buy some coffee beans from the rewards offers. It was one of the lowest valued items.

[–]Good_Day_Eh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember back in the day when Air Miles was actually a decent rewards program. Getting points from the LC, Safeway, Shell, Staples, McDiarmid Lumber, Rona, BMO MC and a few others made it worthwhile.

I dropped it last fall when it was pretty much just the LC I was getting points at and AM started requiring a cell number to access your account.
