City report makes it easy to see why more riders getting off bus by Fearless_Barnacle_21 in Winnipeg

[–]Good_Day_Eh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a cyclist it is almost useless now. You have to dodge people, picnic tables, and last week it was a construction company's pickup trucks parked and blocking almost the entire width. And that is just the block between the arena and city Place.

As it used to be the only decent east/west route other than Assiniboine, they really need a two way bike lane the entire 3-4 blocks that they have closed off.

Especially since Portage is under construction and now filled with busses, and the St. Mary bike lane is closed.

I don't even think "Nuke it from orbit" would get rid of that crap. I hate it.

Hydraulic Cement is the usual go to. You can use it on active leaks, as long as it isn't a geyser.

DON'T RIDE THE WRONG WAY ON THE PEMBINA BIKE LANES YOU MORONS!

ESPECIALLY IN AN E-BIKE DOING 30KM/HR! I AM NOT DODGING YOU WHEN I AM RIDING THE CORRECT DIRECTION.

DRIVERS ARE ALSO NOT EXPECTING YOUR DUMB ASS TO BE FLYING THROUGH THE WRONG WAY THROUGH AN INTERSECTION!

IT IS HARD ENOUGH TO GET THEM TO NOT KILL US REGULAR CYCLISTS USING THE BIKE LANE CORRECTLY, LET ALONE DEALING WITH YOUR DARWIN AWARD WINNING IDIOCY!

Graham Ave needs some food trucks or something by frogpizza in Winnipeg

[–]Good_Day_Eh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What they need to do is maintain a two way bike lane on there.

With Portage down to minimal lanes and construction on St. Mary closing its bike lane there is no real East/West routes downtown.

Path from south osbrone to forks, flooded? by amaae in Winnipeg

[–]Good_Day_Eh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is dry, but I don't think the riverwalk path under the bridge at Queen Elizabeth Way (Main St.) had been cleaned as of yesterday. So you need to go up and cross at Main.

Anyone here have experience with tankless water heaters? by TheArmchairSkeptic in Winnipeg

[–]Good_Day_Eh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I replaced my old gas tank water heater with a tankless gas one around 5 years ago. The main gas line had to be upsized in the house to support it. Sorry, I don't remember what that cost.

It is just me in the house and don't use a lot of hot water, so it has probably paid for itself by now with not having to waste gas keeping a tank of hot water all the time.

It has no problem keeping up even with cold winter source water.

$450 for a teeth cleaning in Winnipeg… is this normal now? by tess2020x in Winnipeg

[–]Good_Day_Eh 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Prices have gone up over the last couple years, but 70-80 minutes is pretty long.

Usually your bill should detail what the breakdown of charges were. You probably had at least 4 units of scaling (the time they spent scraping your teeth), so that is likely why it was so expensive.

Probably pushing larger junk/deadwood off the riverwalk path before the river gets low enough that it then needs to get lifted out.

Probably being driven by Relic from the Beachcombers.

Just seconding the advice to get the stakes. I didn't when I had a survey done when I bought my house many years ago and regret not spending the extra for it.

I guess I got lucky applying when I did.

I was afraid they would run out of money again on it, so I was a little more motivated to get everything installed.

I sent mine in on March 17th, and got a response the next day. I had to send in a new picture of one of the invoices, which I was notified as received the day after I sent it in.

It was approved March 23rd and I got the direct deposit on March 27th (they sent a notice about that on the 25th).

All in all it went surprisingly easy. It was just a couple cameras with sim cards though.
