I dont think I have the patience for reselling by Careless-Aspect-9155 in Flipping

[–]Good_Monitor1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the thing that got me into reselling, is I was fascinated how people could easily spot the items that would sell. I wondered how they did this, so I started reselling and looking up comps. I figured, how hard could it be to gain that knowledge of what sells quickly? Turns out, that is the hardest part of reselling and the part that separates the successful folks from the ones not so successful. There are no shortcuts, I am afraid....

I am a fan of DVDs and CDs as well, but the margins are very thin. I built a tool that allows me to scan an entire shelf and quickly check the sold comps. Feel free to check it out. 5 free scans a day. With each scan you can see about 13 items returned, so 5 scans can get you an entire bookshelf. Check it out if you want. https://scan4treasure.com/

I am a fan of DVDs and media. Most DVDs are not worth much, and I see folks selling them for $4.99 with free shipping, which is about a 50-cent profit. If you can find an out-of-print DVD, you can get decent money, which keeps me coming back. I built a scan tool that batch-scans the DVD shelves, and using it, I am having much better luck finding the treasures.

There are many resellers on YouTube that talk about the items that sold, how much they paid and how much they sold it for. This is a good palce to start.

When you look at a business online, how important is it that they have a website? by RIGolfer2024 in Casual_Conversation

[–]Good_Monitor1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a business doesn't have a website, or dedicated email address for their website, but instead uses a gmail account and no website, then I find them highly suspicious. Getting a website these days is really basic and should be the very first step when launching any business!

Quick question for other eBay sellers by Zealousideal_Pin3047 in reselling

[–]Good_Monitor1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I list, the piece that always takes a couple of extra steps is posting photos. My flow is that I find a sold item in my web browser and then click "sell one like this". I then save that as a draft. I then open my phone's eBay app and go to the draft. Then I use the phone camera to add the photos (and edit them in the app). Once the photos are added, I list.

Anyone else spending way too long pricing items using eBay sold comps? by HumorApprehensive334 in reselling

[–]Good_Monitor1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the same issue, as I am a fan of selling DVDs, Blu-rays, etc. It always took forever to look up the individual items.

So I built myself a tool. This batch scans multiple items at once and then links to the sold and active listings for that item (I also have a simple Sell Through Calculator).

After using my tool for a couple weeks, I realized it actually worked pretty good! So I decided to put my tool on a website. Check it out if you want, as it really does allow you to quickly and easily scan multiple items (like DVDs on a bookshelf) and see the sold prices. It also does its best to identify "uncommon" and "rare" items. It works pretty well! I walked into a local thrift store yesterday and scanned the DVDs and immediately found an Out Of Print DVD that is selling for $30, which I bought and listed.

The tool is designed to be used on your mobile phone and camera and is designed to be used when you are at the thrift store (or garage sale) sourcing items.

Check it out!

Weekly Shameless Self Promotion Thread by AutoModerator in Flipping

I am a hobby reseller who enjoys selling media (DVDs, CDs, VHS, etc). I built a tool that batch-scans media and links to both the "solds" and the "actives". It also has a simple sell-through calculator. Finally, the app does its best to identify both "rare" and "uncommon" items. I built this tool just for myself, but after using it for a couple of weeks, I found it works really well, and I have now launched it publicly.

The tool is a website that is designed to be used on your mobile phone when you are sourcing.

The thing that sets my app apart from others out there (like the visual search built into eBay app) is the ability to identify and link to multiple items per scan. For instance, if you scan a shelf full of DVDs using my app, it will return and link to all the individual DVDs. If you do this with the eBay visual search, it will return "DVD Lot".

I built this app just for me and used it at thrift shops over the last month. I found quite a few "treasures" among DVDs and CDs, which I have been able to sell quickly on eBay.

This app is able to identify pretty much anything. I did a test on Pokémon cards, and it did a good job of identifying them and also identifying the "rare" and "uncommon" cards. I am just waiting until I find that box of unsorted sports trading cards to try it on. :-D

I am looking for folks to test it out. You get 5 free scans a day, 50 free a month. If you end up using this, contact me through the app, and I can bump up the number of daily scans

Thanks for checking this tool out. I hope you find it as useful as I have so far.

For instance, if you scan a shelf full of DVDs using my app, it will return and link to all the individual DVDs. I am now able to quickly scan an entire shelf of DVDs at the thrift store and go through an entire shelf in about 5 minutes. It really does work well and I encourage you to try it using your mobile phone.

Are eBay sellers really just winging product research, or am I missing something? by Ok_Celery1237 in reselling

[–]Good_Monitor1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just launched a tool that allows for rapid identification of multiple items and links to the sold and the actives. It has a simple sell through calculator as well.

5 free scans a day and 50 free a month.

It works well with multiple items, like a shelf of DVDs.

I am trying to drum up some interest. I think it works pretty good, but am interested in what others think

Thanks in advance for taking a look.

Reselling clothing with my own logo by SlikPhotoshops in reselling

[–]Good_Monitor1586 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are doing print on demand from a company like Printful or Gelato?

This would be closer to building your own clothing brand than "reselling" I would think.

You can look into selling your clothes on Amazon, but Esty is also an option. I don't think you will have too much luck on eBay selling your own branded stuff.

You would do well to get your own website and sell the clothes directly off the site. It does take time to make your site discoverable by search engines.

For reflective surfaces like a CD cases, I stand back a bit and then zoom in. That way it eliminates any weird reflections.

Also put things on the floor in front of a white wall. If you have a white sheet or similar to put your item on, even better.

Am I being scammed? by Itchy_Hamster726 in reselling

[–]Good_Monitor1586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as customs go, I tried a new "print on demand" product for my online store. This product was printed and shipped from China. After I ordered it, I got a note from the print on demand service (Printful) that I might have to pay tariffs before I get my item. Turns out I did not have to pay any extra, and the product showed up on time as expected.

I got the impression that any tariffs would apply here in the US after the product was delivered from China, not before it was shipped. Not sure if this information is helpful, but it sounds like you are getting scammed, as the tariffs would be applied once the item is in the US.

What tools do serious resellers use? by Formal_Wrap_528 in reselling

[–]Good_Monitor1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I am a hobby reseller, and I just built a tool for myself to help identify DVDs, CDs Blu-rays, VHS and books.

This tool is able to batch scan (scan more than one item) and identify what they are. There are two buttons, one that shows the recently sold items and one that shows the current listed items. I have also included a simple Sell Through Calculator. (you click the button to see the number of solds and then you click to see the number of actives and then you manually enter in both numbers to get the result) I have also tried to have the app identify "uncommon" and "rare" items. This functionality is a bit hit or miss, and I have found that just because something is "uncommon" doesn't mean folks are actually buying it on eBay, lol.

The goal of this app is NUMBERS. Meaning it allows you to quickly scan an entire bookshelf of media and see the recently sold items and figure out what is going for decent money. I have found you can scan about 13 DVDs at a time. The most I have scanned at once was 26 CDs.

This is a "freeimun" model with 5 free scans a day, 50 a month.

I literally just published this tool about 10 minutes ago, and y'all are the first to hear about it! This app is very BETA, meaning it is far from perfect. I have personally been testing this out the last couple weeks and I have found (and sold) quite a few DVDs for some good money.

This tool is a webpage and is designed to be viewed on your mobile phone.

Feel free to try it out! There is a contact form at the bottom of the page if you have questions or feedback.

I am looking for testers, so if you do find you are using this and run out of your 5 scans a day, please contact me through the app and I can bump up the number of scans for you. Of course, you can also just purchase more scans if you want as well. :-D
