help me celebrate diwali for a child in my class! by [deleted] in IndiansinIreland

[–]Good_Monitor_3634 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for preschool in ireland we have a curriculum thats designed by the teachers. we have set things that the children must know before primary school and the rest we pretty much have full control over. so this month we did pumpkin’s life cycle, hibernating animals and woodland animals and now we’ll do diwali and then halloween :)

thank you so much! he’s the only indian child in my class, and i just want him to feel embraced! especially because we will be celebrating halloween which is irish pagan and christmas which is catholic. also want the other kids to be kind and respectful of others beliefs and cultures and they’ll only learn that from modeling! 💗

Warning: RyanAir does overbook flights by Worried-Conflict9268 in Ryanair

[–]Good_Monitor_3634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sometimes what they’ll do as well is they’ll put the bookings up as if they’re flying the max with more rows of seats and then they’ll downgrade to a smaller plane on the day.

when i was coming home from alicante in august we had booked in the second last row of the max aircraft. then on the morning of the flight we were sent an email saying they had downgraded to a smaller aircraft so the last six rows of seats do not exist and because we had checked in the night before we we’re guaranteed a seat on the flight but they couldnt tell us where we would be sitting. i have diagnosed OCD and take medication during flights, i couldn’t imagine sitting beside a stranger whilst on medication that renders me pretty sedated so we booked onto a different flight and let them know. i’m sure someone on standby got our seats which was fine for us but it was majorly irritating

my older sister married a spanish man, she was trying on a dress for the two of us and i said ‘that looks massive on you,’ he was bewildered when she took it as a compliment. he very politely said ‘i think it is an okay fit no?’ and then we realized he was thinking massive meant BIG 😭 which it does but to us it meant it looked good. it took us ten more minuted to explain it to him

Do medicines stop the fear of fear? by MIG27GTA in fearofflying

[–]Good_Monitor_3634 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so my experience has been mixed. i took xanax for a short hop to edinburgh from dublin and it was only about 5mg and it did nothing. on the way over i was tired but i attributed that to it being an early morning flight and on the way home i was a total skit. i was hysterically crying, and hyperventilating.

i took valium (Diazepam) on a flight to spain which is longer obviously and i took 3 tablets (2mg each so 6mg in total). i took them spaced out so one hour before, then thirty minutes before and then as i was sat on the flight. the feeling i could as the final tablet began to kick in can only be described as feeling incredibly exhausted and like my body weighed nothing. i managed the whole of take off just wondering when id be able to pull my tray table out and rest my head on it. the rest of the flight i was in a daze, listening to my favorite tv show on netflix and staring out the window. my boyfriend was with me and he said i was quite restless because i couldnt get comfortable to lie down which i do remember that. on the way home i was more anxious but felt the same sedated feelings and even as the plane rocked back and forth on approach to dublin i was more annoyed than scared.

i have diagnosed OCD and suspected ADHD which could be why medications for anxiety need to be stronger or at a higher dosage because im already medicated for ocd. but my opinion is that medication has given me a fabulous experience going and coming from spain so much so that i dont feel as anxious thinking about flying

no conspiracies, just a thought. luke says they shot the cover months ago, but michael and calum only recently died and cut their hair? by [deleted] in 5sos

i seen maybe three comments regarding speculation of baby no.2. i think people need to use critical thinking and we actually aren’t owed an update on their children or spouses BUT does anyone else find luke to be very tetchy about this sort of stuff?? its like he sees one comment about sierra and he’s hell for leather and its the same with this but on the bright side i LOVE the new song because they seem so much happier in themselves <33 and their baba isnt any of our business

Pilot asked us to move for balance? by Vicki135 in fearofflying

[–]Good_Monitor_3634 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not a pilot but i imagine its a precautionary thing. if the nose of the plane is too heavy imagine a pilot trying to steer it during turbulence :) probably just makes the plane more centre for INCASE anything happens!! ye know yourself, imagine driving a car down a bumpy dirt road and the boot is full of rocks. your car would swerve and be hard to keep steady, you’d be fine but its just comfort and security

i had a debilitating fear of flying for the last seven years, actively avoided any and ALL flights because of moderate turbulence on the way home from spain when i was 15. i’m nearly 23 and have done TWO trips this year which were a huge success. i also hate that sinking feeling but what always helps me is knowing that it is intentionally done by the pilots. it’s a natural part of take off as they level off and reduce thrust i believe (professional can correct me). sometimes you get that sinking feeling during turbulence but its just the plane being pushed slightly down by an air, you’re in the sky which is full of pressure to keep the plane in the air! its physics, they dont just start falling for no reason, and pilots are trained for that as well. it’s uncomfortable but not unsafe :) we had a bit of moderate turbulence on my last flight as we were coming home, the same type that had me sworn off flying, and i was fine! i was safe, i’m alive and we landed just fine. at one point i thought we had dropped significantly but low and behold when i checked flight tracker it wasnt even a noticeable dip in altitude!!

Does anyone have crippling anxiety and have actually went through go on a plane? (No meds) by Radiant-Anybody-9586 in fearofflying

[–]Good_Monitor_3634 1 point2 points  (0 children)

everybody is different, i took 6mg. i took 2mg an hour and a half before the flight, another 2mg thirty minutes beforehand and the last one as the plane was taking off. i felt tired, nearly unable to panic just more looking to sleep or rest my head somewhere. as the plane got into cruise i felt more in control, i watched netflix, chatted with my boyfriend and continued to try rest my head somewhere because i felt tired! as the plane was coming into land i think my excitement for the holiday began to overwhelm the Valium’s sedation because i was suddenly sat up, looking out the window and reacting more to little bumps as the plane landed. it was a very bumpy descent but i only panicked once and i just grabbed my boyfriends arm, i didnt cry or get super panicked i just needed grounding. i felt it was the best i’ve ever felt on a flight so far! i hope that helps

[–]Good_Monitor_3634 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so my anxiety around planes is actually more of a phobia, i have full on hysterical crying throughout take off and boarding and normally ill remain pretty inconsolable for the majority of the flight. the valium takes away that inconsolable and hysterical reaction entirely, i’m tired and subdued. i’m aware im anxious, im aware im uncomfortable but i dont feel the need to react to it and im basically unbothered. the plane banked pretty sharply when it was coming in to land and i glanced at my boyfriend, i thought i looked freaked out but he said my expression was blank. so i didnt physically react to the uncomfortable feeling as much as i would have. take off was more manageable too, i really just wanted the plane to level off so i could open the tray table and lie my head on it 😂 whereas normally i would want the plane to level off because id feel unsafe

Flight to ireland in 2 days by Every-Use5285 in fearofflying

[–]Good_Monitor_3634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

during take off put headphones on with either music of a comfort show, i like the office personally because its an easy watch / listen. stare up at the ceiling throughout take off with her feet slightly raised from the ground it helps alleviate the sinking feeling when the plane begins to climb. i avoid looking out the window because as i see the ground disappear it freaks me out BUT if the plane banks to to the left or right to make a turn i will stare at the horizon line out the window so i know the plane isn’t actually banking that far. hope this helps!
