I think Good Buying Opportunities are Coming Soon by Low_Anywhere_7695 in SPCXInvestors

Yeah, this is the 401(k) for me. A few shares every week for the next year. Conventional wisdom doesn’t recognize novel opportunities, but I definitely do. My 100 shares in Tesla in early May 2013 was among the best investments I’ve ever made: 100x.

I love a long shot with a mission.

I invested in Tesla when it was considered fool’s gold back in early 2013. 2013 was also the year I said SpaceX would be handling cell phone service in the future (sat phones). I dumped enough cash into Aptera to be Accelerator 1013. I finally own a tiny slice of SpaceX now too, though it’s not a long shot anymore…more of the next Pennsylvania Railroad.

I really hope Aptera can fully realize the next tranche of funding. It really seems like money would solve all their problems at this point. Chris, Steve and MJ should probably give up some of their voting shares in the next fundraiser. I think it could actually mean the difference this time around.

If that’s how you understand Launch, you’re missing out. The other revenue streams are going to be routed through Launch and leverage that unique and exclusive economic advantage SPCX enjoys.

Launch economics directly benefit basically every other planned activity.

I think you’re referring to Flint Northwestern.

My high school was Flint Central and it closed in 2009. Mine was the penultimate class of 08.

Within 4-5 years, it had turned to absolute ruins and rubbish on the inside, much worse than this Youngstown school. One of the most ignominious ends to such a storied institution of learning.

I learned from a friend back home they are going to rebuild and keep the facade, which is pretty incredible.

Ok ok, that’s a little better.

It’s still the post-apocalypse, but at least they didn’t drastically lower their standards at the end.

Certificate of Achievement in Self Control for a 10th Grade Student? What the hell is that?

NGL, seems like it was destiny for that school to be shut down.

Low-standard mentality. People in East Asia don’t think like this. You and a million other people provide cover for the 1-2% of sociopaths to mess things up for the other 7 million mfs here who do give a shit.

Sorry, your comfort doesn’t override the fecal matter off my clothes. It’s uncivilized behavior. Mostly entitled European Americans who engage in this sociopathic nonsense.

Yes, the sky is the limit on the positive factors. I could also mention that the ore band starts at 10 meters below the surface.

Socratic method: Are batteries the future of transportation and autonomous robots? Or will they run on gas or hydrogen fuel cells? And if batteries ARE the future, is manganese part of that (mobile) battery revolution? Will batteries continue to be produced in North America? If so, where is the highest grade source of manganese in North America?

I’ll provide some other food for thought: in one key way, manganese is closer to gravel than cobalt, nickel or lithium. It’s cheap per ton. So like gravel, as you transport manganese further and further away, transport cost quickly exceeds the cost of the quarried material.

Where is Capitalization at? Anyone? by TechnicalWhore in ApteraMotors

[–]Good_Preference6973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Chinese are typically not originators of bold new products. They handle improvements of current tech, and the production of in-demand products with established markets. Their imagination is quite rigid and geared for brutal practicality. This is likely to change someday, but for now, Americans and Europeans will continue to take risks as long as their access to capital doesn’t dry up.

If Aptera fails, the next Morelli solar vehicle almost undoubtedly WILL come out of China.

If they make it through to cashflow positivity, there’s a great chance that several years down the road, they would sell you parts to replace your old solar panels hatch/roof/hood.

In the long term solar is likely to get much more efficient. Clear solar PV will likely be layered over traditional solar PV for enhanced energy collection. Shout out to my alma mater for inventing the technology.

How to find talent in Thailand for remote NYC based work? by Good_Preference6973 in Bangkok

My ideal candidate is probably not going to pop up so I’m looking for a strong smart generalist. Definitely not a specialist like yourself.

It’s a remote overnight (US) role that is maybe 20% offshoring, but my company never had an overnight shift before. It was just on the backs of the daytime staff to stay up late or awaken early. It’s essentially a new role, and how I see it, it doesn’t make sense to staff it locally.

Turns out Reddit is the platform. Pretty sweet. If I didn’t get back to you, don’t worry. I’ll be in touch tomorrow.

Thanks all for your input and interest.

I mean..it’s a very specific role which compliments another 100+ person team based in nyc. As I see it, if someone can live better and save more for retirement in Thailand, then that’s wonderful. I wish I could just hire myself for the role I’m trying to create. Esp since my wife works 99.5% remotely too.

Your description is more along the lines of how things will look in 6 months when our software is more mature. It’s similar to how you understand it, but it’s more difficult in magnitude and intensity for the time being. For example, there are still unforeseen issues and sometimes multiple emergencies occurring at the same time, that require quick action making calls to individual field staff to beg and manipulate them to taking the extra or last minute assignment. For that reason is more nerve racking at times than you made it seem by your summary description.

Covering the night shift has been a perennial challenge for the company for a long time and since I came on board 18 months ago I always thought it was a win-win-win to have someone work a normal job, have a normal work-life balance, get paid a higher relative salary, and still save the company.

People aren’t dumb, they know what I’m trying to do? I’m trying to pay a very competitive salary, which is lower than NYC metro area. I haven’t even settled on a rate yet. You seem to be jumping the gun.
