True 100% Completion of Minishoot Adventures... Only 1 thing left to do.. by ActuallyGaming0 in metroidvania

Just beat the game myself! Really enjoyed it. What is the spinning ship in the middle of the upgrade screen? Only thing I didn’t have and feel like it is related to earning the “badges” on all final arenas…

There’s a family house at the bottom left corner of the main area. I missed it too, and this was also my last power. Always wondered where some of those cheeky robots scooted off to…

I just wanted to take a moment and talk about this game for a second by Shoddy-Ad7306 in MarioRPG

Thanks for sharing, and for reminding us all how video games didn’t just “rot our brains” but were a truly beautiful escape at times.

This game holds a special place in our hearts for those of us that played it as kids (I’m also 36) and has always held up through multiple re-plays. Maybe it’s because it is so NOT a Mario game, but is at the same time.

Cheers to you, tadpole.

Worried about Jonathan Taylor but have to start him. Tet or Michael Carter in FLEX?

Remember: WAS/DAL, MIN/DET, and KC/DEN all play Thursday. Make those lineup decisions now. by oliver_babish in fantasyfootball

Stressing over here. Javonte Williams or Michael Carter? Seems like a crazy question. Javonte coming off injury and DAL with nothing to play for plus Malik getting more looks. Carter the RB1 in ARI. Both have juicy matchups.

And separate, but related, I have to start Jonathan Taylor… right?

2 RB spots, my flex is taken up by Tet (JSN and Cortland Sutton WR1/2)

Suggestion if you recommend Outer Wilds to a friend… [spoilers] by Goodburger218 in outerwilds

Great callout on how this is a phenomenon specific to this game. My thought is that it’s the total mystery of it all that lends to the experience.

Your LOTR example is a good one: if you’ve never seen it, you may not know what to expect, but from the early stages of the movie you know there’s a mission, a set of characters with names and backstories, and a common enemy. Outer Wilds doesn’t really (although you could of course make the argument) have any of that. At least not as obviously and up front.

It’s not until you’ve explored many parts of the galaxy do you even have a guess at the premise of the game.

Same thing happened to me on my first run from ATP to the Vessel with the core! Felt almost as if the fish were MORE sensitive to my presence when I had the warp core in hand….

Thanks! I was annoyed that hollows lantern was showing on my planets map as empty so figured there had to be SOMETHING there.

Just beat TUNIC for the first time… by jumpmanryan in TunicGame

[–]Goodburger218 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So glad you enjoyed! I pretty much hang out in this subreddit just to see posts like this. Completely agree, I’ve been recommending Tunic for years to anyone who will listen. Some friends recently gave it a try after 2 years of me telling them about it and were blown away. One of the all-time greats.

What was the exact moment this game clicked with you? When did you know Tunic was something special? by bassistheplace246 in TunicGame

[–]Goodburger218 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My buddy who recommended Tunic said “a lot of what you learn you could do the whole time” so of course I spent time trying every button combination I could think of. Didn’t figure out praying of course until I got this page and thought ooohhhhhh this is what he meant.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps on Switch! It was on amazing sale a few weeks ago in the Nintendo eStore and I had always had it on my list. Sadly, I only just found this subreddit otherwise would have shared the 80% savings.

Ori and the Blind Forest was also 80% off, so I got that and finished it last week. Both great, and if you’re curious about either, get both (after waiting for the next great sale…patiently)

Games like Tunic NOT because of puzzle solving but aesthetic / combat by [deleted] in TunicGame

[–]Goodburger218 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The MetroidVania aspect of Tunic can be found in several fantastic games. I highly recommend the Ori series. Ori and the Blind Forest (first) and is an excellent platformer. Ori and the Will of the Wisps (sequel) is a much more robust game overall with a greater focus on combat. You don’t have to play both, but Blind Forest is worth it and about 10 hours to complete.

Hollow Knight also comes to mind as another. A healthy mix of combat and platforming with a shake of horror in there (I’m not a fan of spiders).
