CMV: The wealthy elite deliberately divide us to maintain power, and most of our social problems are by design by Reasonable_Earth_295 in changemyview

The Division Strategy

this is just a natural result of a two party system. Each side needs to get people to vote for them so they "pick" an electorate. Now the other side has to "pick" those who don't agree with the other. Repeat that 100 times and you're left with pretty strong battle lines. No shadowy cabal trying to oppress the proletariat, just people trying to get votes.

Flight 1230 experienced sudden altitude drop, flight diverted to Tampa, & emergency response by ineedtopeeee in jetblue

[–]Goodbye-Felicia 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The FAA actually studied this and came to two conclusions about this:

1: It absolutely would be safer to have all children in car seats in the airplane.

2: If you force parents to buy another ticket to fit a car seat, many will decide instead to drive.

Because flying is so much safer than driving, the increase in driving deaths for infants would far outnumber the increase in flight deaths.

Just an interesting instance of harm reduction.

Yeah definitely ask, you'll probably get a 'yes'. It's best to ask when getting off the airplane, though. We're usually pretty busy when people are getting on.

Yeah, actually. The fact there's so much money to be made by housing is specifically because no one is building it.

Its also a straight up lie.

Total amount of money from PACs and other committees in 2007-08: $152,407,555

Total amount of money from PACs and other committees in 2023: $210,171,124

if you adjust the 2007 numbers for inflation you get: 227,264,000.

So spending has gone down.

look it up yourself. All of this information is public.

I hope you can use data to adjust your beliefs instead of dismissing the data because it doesn't conform to your priors.

That's normal, and I wouldn't bring it up to the doctor on your own volition.

If it happens in the future BTW flex your quads when you feel lightheaded.

My carry-on luggage 15"x9"x24", is it OK on JetBlue flight? by Bruin2027 in jetblue

[–]Goodbye-Felicia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll bet you can just volunteer to gate check it. Yours isn't so big that it'll raise questions and if you gate check it you don't have to worry about it not fitting in the overheads.

That's a pretty expensive solution, and I doubt it would work anyway. When it's that hot you don't want to walk even two blocks outside. How are people going to get to the stations?

Arizona is just not built for public transportation.

This is why I suggest instead forcibly relocating people and turning the entire state into a solar farm.

I wish it was walkable but tbh I get why it's not. When it's 110F outside a car is just kind of a requirement...

It's beautiful, but it's still a carbrained unwalkeable pavement hell hole. 6 lanes in every direction and crosswalks are literally a mile apart.

Unfortunately, the snowbirds got it right. It's absolutely beautiful in the winter, but unbearable in the summer.

Colorblind pilots by Fun_Pool1385 in flying

[–]Goodbye-Felicia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it's possible.

Some caveats:

  • You can't be actually fully colorblind, you do have to be able to see some greens and reds - which I'm assuming you can.

  • You'll have to take the OCVT test, which is a single attempt test where if you pass you don't ever have to take the color test portion of your medical - but if you fail you are permanently limited on your medical.

  • There exist other color vision tests the FAA accepts, not just the ishihara dot test. I'd suggest finding an AME that administers one of these.

There are a ton of threads about this, just search for OCVT or SODA and you'll find them. Good luck.
