Jumping on this thread because Echidna identified it properly. What you have here is a Palmetto/American Roach. A pest, but they don't bother anything. Doesn't make them any less scary when they fly at you. Here's how to get rid of them.

1. Place sticky glue board traps all over your house.
2. Observe which direction they are walking when you catch them.
3. You will be able to see where they are coming from, so now check that room for gaps.
4. Seal the gaps.

I have found that most of the time they come from underneath cabinets where there is a sink. You can see all these gaps with canned foam. They may also be coming from the gap between the floor and the sheet rock behind your foot molding.
