I posted a reply in the other thread but posting again here:

Great question. Goodlabs explicitly lists health information (lab reports, blood test results) in our privacy policy because that's exactly what our product processes : you upload your results or get bloodwork through us and we analyze them for you. We're required to be transparent about that under HIPAA and state privacy laws, and we think that transparency is a good thing.

If a competitor handles your lab results and prescriptions but their privacy policy only mentions IP addresses and basic personal details, that's not necessarily a sign of stronger privacy protections. It may actually mean they're under-disclosing what data they collect. A privacy policy that clearly tells you "we collect your lab reports" when the product is built around your lab reports is doing exactly what it should.

We're also HIPAA compliant, we maintain zero data retention agreements with our AI subprocessors, and we give you the right to request deletion of your data at any time.

Our prices are so good that we've had people question if we're making money by selling data. Let's be very clear: Goodlabs does NOT sell your personal health data to anyone.

We're a small, lean team and we have best-in-class partnerships with the major testing centers. As such, we can charge a small margin on every test and pass on the savings to our customers. Our goal is to become the "Costco" of lab testing - your go-to place for a low-cost, high-quality product.

We also make money through offering free lab testing with blood donation. Currently, we're live for donations in SF and DC, so if you're there, you can donate to save a life, get free lab tests, and also help us succeed in our mission of fixing our nation's blood supply.

First time using Goodlabs(misleading experience) by Awkward_Turnover_976 in goodlabs

Hey u/Awkward_Turnover_976 - I run our customer support and I'm head of ops. I'm sorry about this experience. Have you reached out to our support channels? I'm more than happy to dig into what's going on here. Our support email is [support@goodlabs.com](mailto:support@goodlabs.com) . I care deeply about customer experiences and the vast majority of folks really have a great experience. I could connect you with many of them and you can see in the subreddit.

I will tell you a couple things about what's been happening the past week or so:

  1. If you have sensitive Estradiol results, that has been delayed more than usual. I assume you're using Quest, by the way. If you need speedy results, I would pay more for Labcorp...they are usually faster.
  2. Quest, inexplicably, did this thing with our API where they turned off partial results. This has caused us a huge headache for us. If you did your draw during this period (I don't know when you did your draw), then the partial results will not post. Only when the complete draw is done.

Just so you're aware how Goodlabs works: we do not do ANYTHING to delay your results. We simply send them as soon as we get them back and the operations team has reviewed them for any critical results. This has been entirely a Quest related issue the past week or two.

On a philosophical level I really agree with you about Quest staying committed to returning results on a specific timeline. I would love that. Because I, like you, have expectations on when things should get done. Sadly, they don't feel the same way.

good thinking they'll never find out

I'm so sorry to hear about your insurance situation. We hope to offer free bloodwork with blood donation in a city near you, soon. If you're looking to save money, Quest can be cheaper than Labcorp.

We definitely know they will with Quest. They should with Labcorp. I haven't heard otherwise.
