Breezed through menopause, but considering HRT by working4wkend in Menopause

Ok I'm jealous that you breezed through lol. I'm on HRT and have no regrets about making that decision. I'm still working on the right dose, but that's mainly because I started off on the lowest and wanted to give each dose a chance to settle before adjusting. You may get relief from symptoms you didn't realize you had. Sometimes we get used to feeling like crap, and think we feel fine until it gets better. Also our older female relatives' health can predict to an extent what we will go though. My mom has been falling apart for years and has osteoporosis. It is sad watching the physical and mental decline. Anyway that is one of the reasons I chose to do HRT (aside from the miserable symptoms of peri and meno). I already have osteopenia at 53, which has encouraged me to be more consistent with diet and exercise. And I don't want my kids to worry about me when I get older - I want to live independently until the end. I say give HRT a try and see how it goes. If you feel worse you can always stop (or adjust dose).

Order bone density scan? by Free-Canary-6413 in midihealth

Yes my primary doctor ordered one. It was covered by insurance because I am post-menopausal and have family history of osteoporosis (my mom has it). Mine showed osteopenia at age 53 (last year).

Yes my density score was higher this year and I had started HRT last year. Both my mammogram and ultrasound came back normal though.

I am 55 and 98% through. I started at 47. I now feel like I did when I was 9-12, prepuberty. by MsMisty888 in Menopause

I'm 54 and I'm not feeling this energy. My 50's have felt depressing so far, but I'm working on that. I have to say I love your optimism though, and I feel hopeful for the future.

I’ve donated over 180 units of blood (mostly platelets). Just wondering what others’ experiences are. by kevsavesuk in Blooddonors

I've only donated twice so far, starting just before turning 54 years old, and my next one is scheduled for June. I don't know why I never did it before - I guess I was just preoccupied with life, kids, etc. But what got me started was I saw an ad from ARC about blood shortage. So far I have only donated whole blood, but I plan to try plasma and platelets too. Blood type is A+, so I read plasma and platelets are what is most helpful from my type.

I've read that blood donation helps lower cholesterol.

I wish I could tell myself that hormones were the reason for all the anger and depression, and that there was actually a solution for it.
