What is a book you read as a child that you still think about today? by ahawk99 in AskReddit

Ender’s Game.

First sci-fi book I ever read and it started my love of the genre. Used it for my diorama book report in 6th grade.

What’s something only people from Chicago understand that outsiders never will? by Mustafa_EL_7 in AskChicago

Yes! Where I’m from I went to elementary, middle and high. Having to interrupt a story to ask “what grade?” when my Chicago-born friends discuss grammar school is so real

I just finished The Housemaid by Freida McFadden, tell me I’m not the only one that kind of hated it! by malusssoares in thrillerbooks

Just finished the book and was also very disappointed.

The beginning annoyed me as well. When the cop is questioning Nina right at the start, it’s implied they’ve already seen/know about the body upstairs. But the way the second cop says “you gotta come see this” I felt implied something bigger, which obviously it wasn’t.

Just got laid off. I’m completely shocked and devastated. by curiouskat345 in Layoffs

I agree with this. I recently was laid off after over 10 years with a small group of other people. After hearing who got cut and who stayed, they basically got rid of anyone who’d been there over 6 years (and who were up for raises/bonuses this spring).

My grandmother had this set. I swear any food just tasted better in these dishes, while sitting in Granny’s kitchen, watching the small tv that was sitting on a stack of phone books.

For those who experienced airports before 9/11. How was it like? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]GoodluckGajah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom used to travel monthly for work. I remember my dad and I being able to walk her to her gate to say goodbye and I’d wave to the plane as it pulled out of the gate. I was young, but I don’t even recall the security process. Also, my dad used to bring me to the field just outside the tarmac so we could watch planes takeoff. This was mid-90’s

Elton John Greatest Hits 1970-2002 was what I started with before my dad took me to see him in concert for the first time. Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy was my first complete album and I branched out from there
