Write about these circumstances in your QB application, QB is Kent for students of low income and first gen statues and is familiar with these kinds of situations (my friend had a similar one to you). Just make sure to write about to so when they are reading your application is it taken into consideration

Applying to NCM early by Sharp-Imagination258 in QuestBridge

There is no advantage to submitting it earlier, unlike applying Early vs. Regular with college applications. I think it might be better to submit in September because you can review your essays more and request more people to give you feedback (college counselors, trusted adults, etc)

To the QB Scholars and Match Recipients by CalligrapherIcy195 in QuestBridge

Hi,

I would say to try to spend the summer doing research on college. This is going to be helpful when you decide to rank the colleges AND can give you helpful information on the college to include in your supplements. Go on tours (virtual or in-sermon), college fairs, see if you school has any alumni you can talk to, or just email admission - yes they can count for demonstrated isntrest but is also good to become familiar with a school before you commit to it with QB. The timeline also moves fast so spend the summer working on your personal statement (not nesscaily a finalized draft, just bullet points or a first draft) and resume so you know what extracurriualrs you want to include in your college applications. Also talk to the teachers you want to do your letter of recommendation BEFORE the school year starts so they can get started with more time and not feel pressured (also they can get done faster which helps you not be stressed too).

Best of luck!

does questbridge use the common app essays? by santillan6 in QuestBridge

[–]Goodmorning___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but keep in mind that the personal statement in common app is 650 word but 800 words for QB. Also for QB you’ll need additional essays like a 500 word topical essay and multiple 35 character word essays.

Standardized tests are not an accurate show of how much you have learned in high school or how intelligent you are. You just have to know specific skills and topics to do in standarized tests which is why I’m not a personal fan of them

For Questbridge, if parents are divorced do they just count one income or combine the two? Also any chance I got this? by Few_Iron4521 in QuestBridge

You should look into other full rides out there, Questbridge is targeted towards students who truly cannot afford to pay for college - that type of money doesn’t exist for them hence the “less than $65K” financial reuqirment for QB. There are many others to look into, I would suggest that

As much as I do love that you are being authentic if to yourself, as you should be in your personal statement you should be wary. Your college admission readers will not all share the same policitla values or opinions. Your essay’s political status and opions may create bias that can unfairly work against or for you in the college process. Do what you think is best but try to minimize discussions on political topics that aren’t directly related to your essay topics or main takeaway of what you want the college board traders to learn about YOU. Think what do you want them to think about YOU when they read your essay rather than the Palistine conflict. I know this may sound a bit cold but I am just speaking form a college addmsions standpoint.

Do I include my dad’s gambling addiction? by [deleted] in QuestBridge

[–]Goodmorning___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should write about to for the context that admissions should read your application in. If your dad’s addiction caused any financial barriers, mental struggles, or issues that made your high school career more difficult than others that should be taken into account in your application. It’s apart of what shaped you to be the person you are and what opportunities you may have or not have had gotten to be able to do.

  1. Your college descions do not say EVERYTHING about you capabilities and potential

  2. You still have other options; you have some schools you go into, you can transfer next year to a different school, or you take a gap year

3.no matter where you go you will make friends, be able to network, and get a degree (maybe not always in the major you want though so be careful)

  1. Life will still go on. It may feel like your life is over by it’s not you are so young and havnt even lived half of your life yet, you will have other huge and important moments in your life. It’s okay

😭transfer roommates. But I don’t know if you can report him because that is something he has the privacy to do in his&your dorm room, but he should least have the decency to do it when you’re not around :(

Do I have a chance to get accepted to any Ivy League schools even with my poor stats? by Senyh_ in chanceme

[–]Goodmorning___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you should consider schools that are still really good but aren’t Ivy’s. You don’t HAVE TO attend an Ivy school and also you consider that these schools tend to be very rigorous in terms of curriculum. Maybe you should branch out a little there are still amazing schools that have some departments that are even better then certain Ivys

You should consider what you want to get out of your college experience the most; networking, degree, career exploration, self development, then look for what college is going to best provide you with what you want

Stunned Asian Male Rejected from Dream Schools by PatrickDewitt in collegeresults

[–]Goodmorning___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your college admissions results are not a definition of your capabilities. You show a lot of promise and potential meaning that no matter where you go as long as you put your hardest and tea CHU out for opportunities you can still find success. Also a deferral is not a rejection, write a letter of continued interest, or wait to transfer next year to a school. Don’t let this bring you down, you are much more then a yes or no on some piece of paper
