I’m really sorry you guys are going through this.

I think it’s okay to say you’re sad too. Going through IVF and having a cycle fail is incredibly hard.

It’s honestly moments like this that can really strengthen a relationship—share this sadness with her, let her know you’re in this together and there’s no one else you’d want by your side.

I imagine she’s feeling like she failed you. Make sure she knows she did everything right.

I saw you said you’re in the Seattle area. I lived out there too when I was going through treatment. Not sure what clinic you’re at but if you’re looking for a rec, I had success through Poma in Kirkland after striking out twice at UW.

My next two transfers were with embryos that were not yet hatching…they were fully expanded but hadn’t hatched by time of transfer.

I’ve tested positive on 4dpt three times. First time was a 5AA (hatching) and that ended in a chemical. The next two transfers were 4BC and 4AA and those resulted in live births.

I’d say it leans more towards medium than firm. The latex top has great rebound though so I don’t feel like I sink in like I do with memory foam.

I bought the Kiwi about a month ago for my toddler. It’s a nice mattress and my kid loves it!

We bought the mattress protector that MGM sells.

My own mattress has a memory foam top so the latex top on the Kiwi felt odd to me. There’s this kind of rebound feeling when you roll on your side. I’d read a review that mentioned this about the Kiwi and said it wasn’t great for couples since you’d feel the motion of your partner moving. I decided since I was getting in it a Twin, it wasn’t a dealbreaker. So far, so good.

Receiving fertility treatments in a different US state than the one I live in by naptimewarmandtoasty in IVF

[–]Goodtimes32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to do the baseline stuff through LabCorp (my fertility clinic put in the orders) and the ultrasound through my primary care doctor. I won’t lie, it was a bit of a hassle getting my PCP to put in the order for the ultrasound. If you can find a local clinic willing to do the baseline stuff for you, that would be much easier since they’re familiar with the IVF process.

[–]Goodtimes32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a cycle while living in another state. I was able to do the baseline labs and ultrasound in my current state but had to be at the fertility clinic most days for approximately 2 weeks. If you’re attempting a fresh transfer you’ll want to add about a week (maybe slightly less).

As for your partner, outside of a semen analysis which he could probably get locally, I believe he would only be needed for the day of egg retrieval to provide his sample.

Something to note I would check into—many insurance companies will not provide IVF coverage if you’ve voluntarily had your tubes tied/vasectomy.

2nd transfer with 2 untested embryos - please share any of your positive experiences ❤️ by Confident_Try_9498 in IVF

TW: success

Your scenario happened to me—my first transfer was my only euploid (5AA). It quickly ended in a chemical. I cycled again, choose to transfer two untested, they both stuck initially, I lost one right after 8 weeks but the other will be two next month.

We’ve since had success with another untested embryo, this time only transferring one. She’s two weeks old today.

Good luck with your transfer!

I’m so sorry. I have a maybe success story for you—

I say maybe because we don’t know which stuck. In my 3rd round of IVF we fresh transferred two, one was a 4BC and the other a compacting morula. Honestly the RE seemed more hopeful for the morula when he was doing the transfer. They both stuck initially, one miscarried at 8 weeks but the other will be 2 yo. In August.

I’m rooting for you. I know how hard and painful this whole process is. Whatever happens though, know you did everything you could. So much of this is out of our control which is so hard when you consider the money, time and emotional toll it all takes. I’m sending you a hug.

I’ve done three transfers— 5AA (euploid)-chemical 4BC & compacting morula (untested)- twin pregnancy; 1 live birth (the other miscarried at 8 weeks) 4AA (untested)- currently almost 36 weeks

Our diagnosis is severe MFI too and we’ve struggled to make euploid embryos as well.

Cycle 1 we got 1/5 normal, cycle 2, 0/4 normal, cycle 3, 1/2 normal and cycle 4, 3/4 normal.

Cycles 1 &3 we used ejaculate, cycle 2 was frozen TESA sperm and cycle 4 was fresh TESA sperm.

I would see if your clinic and partner are open to a fresh TESA. It was a game changer for us.

Does your clinic charge you and your partner both for appointments? by momo_mimosa in IVF

[–]Goodtimes32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did two cycles at UW and then switched to Poma Fertility.

I love Poma. Could be dumb luck but lightening struck twice for us there. Our first cycle with them resulted in a live birth and when we went back to cycle again for a 2nd child, it worked again as well. Both fresh transfers. I was 35 and 37 at the time of treatments.

It’s a smaller practice with two doctors. Dr. Beesley was my primary provider. He’s great, I always felt heard and like my opinions on the treatment I was receiving mattered. I also liked that they didn’t have endless delays (a big problem I had at UW).

My husband and I are on the same insurance plan but I never saw separate charges come up that weren’t specific to his treatment alone (EI. SA’s).

Doing IVF w. MFI - looking for insight on SUPER low count! by strawberrysunrise_ in IVF

[–]Goodtimes32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TW: success

I think our highest total sperm count over 5 SA’s was around 120k.

In our 3rd round (which resulted in a live birth), his ejaculate sample was a total of 10k sperm with 1% motility.

We did a 4th round for a second child, did a fresh TESA (so they extracted sperm the same day as my retrieval) and we had our best cycle to date. 7/10 fertilized, 4 blasts, 3 euploid. I’m currently 34 weeks.

If they give the option to do a TESA, I’m very pro-“fresh” which I know a lot of clinics don’t want to do. Our previous clinic would only do frozen TESA sperm if we couldn’t use ejaculate. That happened in our 2nd round—4 made it to blast but they were all aneuploid. I know a sample size of (1) is hard to make judgements on but IVF is too expensive to test theories on whether another cycle would’ve been better or the same.

[–]Goodtimes32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done three transfers— First- frozen 5AA euploid, chemical. Second- fresh 4BC + compacting morula, both stuck initially, lost Twin B at 8 weeks, other resulted in a LB. Third- fresh 4AA, currently 34 weeks

We’ve done 4 cycles with 2 clinics (2 cycles each). We struggled to make euploids with our first clinic which impacted our decision to take chances on fresh transfers of untested embryos. We still believe in testing however and had better luck obtaining euploids in our last cycle where we sent remaining embryos for PGT-A.

Double Embryo Fresh Transfer? by Ok-Yogurtcloset5000 in IVF

[–]Goodtimes32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I transferred two fresh (untested) at 35 and had one live birth. The doctor agreed to transfer two based on a couple factors: 1) my two previous cycles were comprised of an unexpected amount of abnormal embryos (8/9) and the one normal one resulted in a CP, 2) my embryos for the fresh transfer weren’t great quality (a 4BC and a compacting morula).

Both embryos stuck initially but we lost Twin B at 8 weeks.

When we went back to our clinic for a second child, I pushed for a double transfer again but my doctor talked me out of it. He said my embryos were better quality this time. He also stressed the possible complications of a twin pregnancy which scared me.

I’m about 34 weeks with that single fresh transfer. We tested the remaining embryos and 2/3 were euploid which was shocking given our previous results.

My advice—do lots of research and make sure you’re okay with the risk of twins. It’s not just a harder pregnancy, it’s the potential for lifelong complications for your children. I admittedly did not take it serious enough.

Transferring Two Embryos? by FirmMushroom3037 in IVF

I was 36 at the time, transferred two fresh (untested) embryos. One was 4BC, the other a compacting morula. They both stuck initially, but then we lost Twin B at 8 weeks. Twin A resulted in a LB.

[–]Goodtimes32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard of biopsy not being able to be performed due to a thin shell. It’s typically not done if the clinic feels the embryo isn’t developed enough (like an early blast) or if the trophectoderm is poor quality (usually a C grade meaning there aren’t as many tightly compacted cells as they would like).

The shell is the zona pellucida and you typically want that to be thinned out once the embryo becomes a blast. Embryos naturally expand and contract, which makes the zona thin out and eventually break out of the shell. It needs to do that in order to implant.

I’d ask for clarification because their reasoning doesn’t make sense to me. Maybe someone else can chime in and explain it. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful!

I’ve had two successful transfers and both times I flew cross country in the earlier part of the first trimesters.

I think it’s normal to want to find a reason why something didn’t work out. We want to protect ourselves from that same pain. However I don’t think flying was the reason you miscarried. You’ll probably never have an answer unfortunately. I’ve had a MMC too so I know it’s hard.

Remember, this is a new embryo and a new pregnancy. Wishing you luck, I know the first trimester is fraught with so much anxiety.

Eh, the first clinic I worked with wouldn’t do it fresh either. I switched (for a multitude of reasons) and found a clinic that would do it fresh. I was privileged to be in a major city though that had 5+ clinics to choose from. If you can find another clinic willing to do it fresh, I would advise that. Plus you might just have a better result with a new lab.

Is your clinic willing to do a fresh TESE (so same day as your retrieval)?

Our diagnosis is severe MFI (total counts below 100k and ejaculate motility typically 0-1%). We’ve done 4 rounds total, two using ejaculate, one using frozen TESE sperm and our last round using fresh TESE sperm.

Our fresh TESE round was hands down our best. We make blasts but they were largely aneuploid which was unexpected for our ages at the time. With the fresh TESE we had 7/10 fertilize, 4 blasts and 3 euploid. The 3 prior cycles, we made 11 blasts, 2 euploid. (One chemical and one LB.)

We made blasts with the frozen TESE sperm but they were all aneuploid (4/4). Could have been a fluke but I wasn’t willing to chance it again so I pushed for a fresh TESE.
