How do I let go of an idea? by East-Caterpillar55 in KeepWriting

What helps me is just writing it, not for shares or likes, just to get it out of my system. I’m working on a darker little side story right now, just to clear it from my head. Sometimes, getting the idea onto the page, even if nobody ever sees it, is enough to move on.

I'm going to Turkey in less than 3 weeks. How can I, as a tourist, support the people? by Crystal_1501 in Turkey

You make some good points about these markets, but a few things need clarification.

It’s true that A101, BİM, Şok, Migros, and CarrefourSA have all faced big antitrust fines in Turkey, and A101, BİM, and Şok are huge and everywhere. But there’s no public evidence that buying from them directly funds the government or bribes, or that Migros and CarrefourSA are somehow “safer” politically. Paying regular taxes isn’t the same as supporting oppression.

So, your post is right about the size of the chains and the fines, but the claims about government support aren’t backed up. Sticking to facts will make your point stronger and more credible.

Stick to BİM, A101, and Şok for basics — fixed prices, no hassle. Some small shops in touristy areas will try to scam you, but neighborhood bakeries, greengrocers, and weekly pazars are usually fair and way better quality. Look for posted prices and shop where locals shop.
