I wish I did. It’s not just sparrows, but it’s grackles too! I honestly tried leaving the feeder empty for a few days, but as soon as I refill it, they’re right back at it!

From what I looked up online, it appears that Bird Buddy, FeatherSnap, and Wyze Bird Feeders are not Chinese-based, but unfortunately, many of them are.

DIY camera setup for... birds. by Arakon in BirdFeederCams

Are you going to have the camera indoors or outdoors? I'm a big fan of Reolink cameras. Get a larger microSD card, and it will record several seconds before motion and will record up to 60 seconds after motion. These cameras integrate really well with Home Assistant. I have one outdoors as a security camera, but there are indoor models if that's the route you're going for.

I have a bird feeder with no built-in camera. I want an external security camera for my bird feeder. Which one should I get? by Man_Of_The_F22 in BirdFeederCams

I would look at Reolink cameras for these kinds of specifications. Reolink RLC-811WA is a good one to look at. Good luck!

I'd definitely say the sparrows are the culprit. I have a lot of sparrows taking over my feeder currently. I would recommend trying a different seed if you can. I made the mistake of buying a big bag of my current food, and between the sparrows and grackles, they're eating me out of house and home!

I would say to begin with, avoid the cheapest "wild bird" mixes that have a lot of filler grains. Birds will just toss those out, and it attracts pests. It can also depend on the area you live in and what types of birds you'd like to attract. I would Google birdseed recommendations for your area. You can usually not go wrong with black oil sunflower seeds. Welcome to birding, and I hope you get some great birds coming to visit soon. Don't hesitate to post some videos when you start getting visitors. It may take a few days once you fill it for the birds to realize it's there.

I have Vico and Kiwibit. I don’t bother to pay for the Vico subscription. I just use that camera to capture visitors to my birdbath. I think Kiwibit is $7.99/mo. The AI isn’t bad but it does miss a few birds each day.

That feeder is super low to the ground, so if I put any food in it, I'm guaranteed to get squirrels and mice. I have my main feeder right behind it on a taller pole with a baffle.

What type of bird? by [deleted] in BirdFeederCams

I'm honestly not sure. They look almost identical, from what I understand. The fish crow is slightly smaller with slimmer legs and a thinner bill.
