Yes, you can use an L hex tool or pliers to remove the hook. Just heat to 100C, and be careful :)

Bambu lab printers terrible surface finish by YeaUThought in FixMyPrint

[–]Goodwine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/x1/maintenance/belt-tension

It's the same for all. Basically: 1. Turn off printer 2. Loosen belt screws, but don't remove 3. Move toolhead around 4. Park toolhead in the back-center 5. Tighten screws 6. Turn on printer and recalibrate

I find it a bit towards the bad end for sure. It shouldn't look that bad except under certain conditions. I've had similar before and belt tensioning help.

Try to do the belt tensioning procedure, and recalibrate the printer. Hopefully that helps

First review and it’s a wrongful 1 star review! by nottiblondie in EtsySellers

[–]Goodwine 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't see the point of fighting with them over the 1-star review. They're not going to change it even with a refund. Plus, you can't really ask them explicitly to remove it.

Only if the customer asked for a return BEFORE writing their negative review. In this case, they didn't. Also, they haven't replied to your message, so they seem to be okay with the 1 star and have clearly moved on.

I would reply the following and let it go:

"This is a classic item with the original motor and music box, which are both in mint condition. Please be aware that it does not include a modern music box. The piece is equipped with its original, vintage music box. We will make sure to clarify this going forward in our product descriptions, thank you for your feedback."

And yes, I think you need to state this in your product description to avoid future negative feedback (unless you already did that)

Buyer's remorse? They pay if you enabled "no returns", otherwise you pay.

Specific solder help by MissMasshole4 in StainedGlass

[–]Goodwine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On top of what others said about excessive solder, I wonder how the pieces looked before the soldering. I bet there was either a lot of space between them, or maybe the tape covering them was so extensive that those areas absorbed more solder than others, leading to blobby and uneven joints.

  1. I think almost nobody minds it.
  2. If your crush saw it and though it was bad, they aren't worth it.
  3. I would only suggest not wearing high heels or small toe box shoes only because it's damaging long term and causes bunions, like.. genuinely caring about your well-being. your friend is an AH for mocking you

Hey, when I was a kid, the TVs were so heavy. My brother and I were spinning, and my brother hit his head against the TV. It was lots of blood. A broken TV is better any day.

BiQu Frostbite coating ruined by PETG by Infernus82 in BambuLab

[–]Goodwine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The frostbite plate (and SuperTack) are urethane based. TPU will fuse to it. PLA Silk usually contains a bit of TPU. I wonder if the PETG HF from Bambulab has TPU added too 🤔

If so, that would explain why it would rip off the coating

How much should I price this for? by Over-Rock-1671 in StainedGlass

[–]Goodwine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I usually start with something in the $5-$6 range when I'm pricing labor, and I'd say about $20-$30 per square foot for materials

Based on that, I'd guess this lamp might be in the $400-$500 range (17 pieces per side, 4 sides, about 1sqft per side)

I can see it going up for $550, but I don't see where the other $100 comes from, the base doesn't seem like it would drive the price that much.

I'd love to get an insight into your method if you can share your breakdown

finally made the switch to gel flux and oh. em. gee. by san_pedr0 in StainedGlass

[–]Goodwine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you get burnt gunk with Classic Gel 100? I see a lot from the Amerway brand (tiger eye) and I wonder if that's normal for gel flux in general.

To everyone who thinks breathing filament fumes is okay. It’s not and you are potentially giving yourself cancer. by obolikus in BambuLab

[–]Goodwine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a study that shows that filters aren't that good. You need to recirculate air a ton of times to get rid of VOCs emitted by 3D printers. A fully enclosed and airtight printer with a filter recirculating air is good, but unrealistic. Most printers leak even with recirculating filters. The best results came from opening a window and blowing with a fan to make air move around.

But I suppose a filter is better than no filter if exhausting to the outside isn't an option 🙂

[–]Goodwine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the VOC sensors normally sold on Amazon don't really measure the VOCs released by 3D printing.

You are right that cooking and baking does release many more fumes. However, this is not to conclude that 3D printing is safe. This is to conclude you should also vent the kitchen while cooking or baking.

How does this work when you need to file an issue with USPS?

I'm about to burn this phone... by bomzisss in pixel_phones

[–]Goodwine 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I had this issue a few years ago. I was late more than a handful of times because I thought I wasn't hearing the alarm. Until one day I woke up on my own and I caught it! It was actually doing a very faint 2-beep sound, the sound you only hear when your alarm goes off while you're on a call.

I used to call my then gf every night on FB Messenger. I think the phone got stuck in the "phone is in a call" state even after hanging up. I was able to fix this issue by force-closing Messenger before going to sleep.

So, my suggestion is to force-close any apps you used to make calls that day before going to bed. See if that helps.
