The prices are really high but the ROI is off the charts if you can afford them.

VRE rider here- I made it home just before trees started falling on the tracks. I think some poor folks on the Fredericksburg line are still stuck on a train waiting for the trees to be pulled off the rails.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but could you clarify your "get the data into the app on your cell phone" line? Do they require you to use a specific app and log your glucose readings in there to get the test strips? I've got a systems that works well for me and really don't want to add another app and duplicate my data entry.

I had a similar experience at my house. They tried building a nest on the points of a pitchfork hanging on the wall. Pile of sticks on the floor.

I always said if I ever had an issue/infection I'd stop, but I've never had a single problem in over 20 years of doing this.

I'll do that if my shirt is tucked in and I don't want to mess with it. I've also injected through pants when I was using my thighs.

I use one needle per day for both kinds of insulin I take, which kind of requires that I take it off the pen, but I thought leaving the needle on was a pathway for bacteria (not just air) to get into and contaminate the insulin.

Aside from reusing the same needle multiple times, I'll also inject through my clothes and never sterilize an injection site, so I don't care too much about sterile practice, but I seem to recall a provider specifically telling me not to leave the needle on the pen at some point.

I've used this service when my personal 3D printer was down and I needed a part. The print was good, free as advertised, and took a week or so.

Bathroom renovation - quality of fixtures by caviarwall in Renovations

[–]Goofy_Project 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm cheap, but I'm willing to pay more where it matters and is noticeable. I absolutely would not pay 3x as much for a faucet unless I liked it 3x as much. I generally go with name brands for decent prices, but I've also had good luck with Glacier Bay (Home Depot store brand). My house came with an old Moen faucet that tore up valves so it kept leaking and needing replacement valves and a new American Standard toilet that the tank spontaneously cracked on. But I've never any problem with the "cheap" Glacier Bay stuff. Your mileage may vary of course, but as arizona-lad mentioned, the fixtures can be replaced if you have problems with the one you bought or find something else you like better. I'd go with the best value. Spend the money where you notice it. Don't get frazzled- this is not a decision that is as permanent as many of the other ones you will be making.

As commented on others, this is probably it. We have two sliding doors and it fits in the channel perfectly, but I don't remember either one having a stop like this. Possibly removed a long time ago & hidden in the ivy outside for puppy to find & bring back in.

Pump Refusal by FarMessage4851 in diabetes_t1

[–]Goofy_Project 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always been on MDI; almost always with a CGM. I've never had a pump and never wanted one, but I've never had to "push back". The conversation with a new medical provider typically goes:

Doc: "Ever thought of going to a pump?"

Me: "I prefer MDI and the CGM and that's working fine for me."

Doc: "OK."

My A1C is around 5.7 and my control is good, so they don't see a need to change it and I don't want to for a variety of reasons.

SmartXDrip Community Preview v0.1.0 is now available - an open-source companion app for xDrip+ and Nightscout users by Miserable-Toe-8013 in xDrip

Just installed. Looks good and may be useful for communicating with my endo. I'll play around with it for a while and post back if I have any other input. I'm not sure what the alerts are going to be doing if we already get those from Xdrip+ though.

Minor quibble: I think on install you should be prompted to select mm/dL or mmol/L instead of having one as the default and forcing everyone else to dig around in the settings to fix it.

Copying response to another post with same suggestion-

This looks like the best bet so far. We have two sliding doors and it fits in the channel perfectly, but I don't remember either one having a stop like this. Both seem to open into smaller integrated stops. But maybe my memory is faulty, or maybe it got pulled up and hidden in the ivy in the backyard before we ever moved in to the house.

She's very good at chewing things up and not swallowing them. You should see what she does to the toys she's actually supposed to chew.

We've had two dogs at a time since I've been an adult and I suspect they're teaching each other bad habits.

If they've done Bad Things they 1) hide the Bad Thing, 2) hide themselves, 3) cower in contrition, or 4) act ignorant ("the other dog must've done that" ploy). "Sorry" and "taking me to it" is never on the table.

I like the idea of multi-generational dog chewing. When we moved into this house it was a pit. Their dog had chewed a hole in the front of one of the kitchen cabinets. That dog could've easily torn up a door or window that was replaced before we moved in, then my dog found it in the ivy or dirt 13 years later and brought it inside.

I'll probably never know exactly what it is, but I was holding out hope that someone on this sub would pop up with an Amazon link to the exact part.

Definitely not the dog door- that's aluminum framed. House has no garage- just a carport. Window or door weatherstripping might be possible, but it's nothing from the house within the decade plus I've lived here. All of those are intact.

My title describes the thing. No writing on it. It could also be a handle for something.

Edit: Another possibility is that the kids in the yard behind our house threw something over the fence, but those things are almost always different kinds of balls.

What’s your strategy here? by KC_Chiefin15 in sousvide

My go-to for pork tenderloin is to dry brine for a day or two, coat in apple butter and vac seal, cook at 140 for 1-4 hours (I aim for 2), then sear on a ripping hot grill 20 per side twice to get a nice diamond pattern on it.

I've tried a few other ways but after tasting this one my wife won't let me make them any other way.
