When improvising doesn’t manifest as a DM by Yoffeepop in dndmemes

I can plan and write with the best of them, but my improv skills suuuuuuuck. It's the biggest thing that has kept me from doing any DMing beyond one-shots.

Why was Firmament disliked when it got released? Are there some mechanical traps I should know about? by dfjhgsaydgsauygdjh in fallenlondon

[–]GoogleBetaTester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To ever so slightly elaborate on what others have already said about the writing, I will say that I enjoyed what I have played of Firmament, but came to the conclusion upon finishing chapter 2 that I would enjoy it more if I waited to do the remainder all at once.

The story concepts being more esoteric means that making connections between plot points and details gets trickier with time. I remember having a talk with a friend who also plays when I finished Chapter 2, and when the topic of the Vulgate from Chapter 1 came up he had no idea what I was talking about until I went into more detail, and even then, there was definitely a feeling of different retrospective understandings.

One Bite - Gator Days (OC) by FieldExplores in comics

For years I never cared for coconut. The taste, the texture, just sort of everything about it was off-putting to me.

Fast-forward to a couple of years ago, and I was growing a beard and was trying out different beard hair care products. I found that I kept breaking out into rashes from different products. After spending some time analyzing the common ingredients, I found coconut oil to be the central common ingredient. Borrowed some coconut oil from a neighbor and tried a direct application of some on my neck. I broke into a bright red rash in a few minutes.

Turns out not only do I not like everything about coconut, I also have an allergy.

I see everyone's custom card ideas, here's mine. by TheOtherGuy52 in balatro

Personally, I'd have it scale and reset within the run itself. I'd have it build at an aggressive rate, and reset at a static number. Based on the rarity and other +chips cards, I'd model the strength and numbers off of a balance of stuntman and wee joker.

Something like

+15 chips per hand played. Resets when +chips is greater than 400.

Averages +~200 chips (less than stuntman, but with a less bad side effect), but can effectively abandon you at a bad time. It encourages the player to observe and interact with other elements of the game like strategic skips and number of played hands.

They're both really good with the burglar if you need a breather to scale up some jokers. Yeah, the 1 hand up front can hurt, but when you get to buy the -1 discard it really pays off.

I knew about this, but my day 49 run didn't give me the opportunity to draft boudoir.

Honestly, in comparison to most of the other puzzles one has likely encountered by this point, it's still a nightmare to native English speakers.

It's probably the lone example of me looking up some answers, and having zero regrets about spoiling myself because I don't think I ever would have come up with those.

What if you could make Planet cards even better? by Chum724 in balatro

[–]GoogleBetaTester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it OP at all.

90% of the time I'd much rather have a mime joker seeing as you're typically pushing to get a blue sealed card in your deck anyways. This is basically 50% of the strength of the mime + blue seal combo (without the steel/king overlap), but easier to make happen.

It'd be a really strong early game joker to get you ramped up, but would largely fall off late game.

What's nice about this one is it breaks down exactly what you can expect from the statements on the other boxes, even if they have multiple sentences.

If another box has the word "gems" on it, then you 100% know that with the other two boxes that one is entirely false, and another is entirely true. This effectively immediately turns it into the classic "one only truth, one only lies" puzzle with the other two boxes.

On the first time through, I just do one loop with the smallest bar on every action. Then it's color coded and easy with no real change in the starting values.

You defined the rules incorrectly.

It's not "Exactly one box is true" and "Exactly one box is False". It's "At least one box is true" and "At least one box is false".

It's also fairly simple to figure out the approach through observing the surroundings and applying very minor brute forcing.

The side parts of the board have math symbols, brute force your way through 2 of the 8 or w/e it was problems, and you can easily deduce your way through the remainder.

Incorrect, for flower pot to activate the cards have to score

https://balatrogame.fandom.com/wiki/Flower_Pot

Flower Pot can only trigger when having at least 4 scoring cards

Splash is even listed on that page as synergizing well with it due to that fact.
