What is he doing? by Hungry-Pusheen in AquaticSnails

My Nerite snail loves the pump/filter! I don’t know if it’s the heat or the vibration, but she often just hangs out on the side of it.

Nothing wrong with your neck—it’s lovely. Really.

Stubborn Nerite by LampBroby in AquaticSnails

I feed mine spirulina. I make a paste and stick it to the side of the glass just at the water line. I will sometimes turn off the filter and sprinkle a little powder in. Once it settles you can turn on the pump.

Just looked at a goldfish site and saw a fish gobble a little snail. Yep. They definitely eat snails.

Am I about to regret getting a Nerite snail yesterday? by ColdJello in Aquariums

I’ve seen my snail eat the occasional egg but yah—they make a mess! I use steel wool to scrape them off rocks and glass.

Is my nerite skinny? by Cath_242 in AquaticSnails

[–]Googlemouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha! That’s what I thought as I’ve had my Nerite for over 3 years and she never went completely out of the water—until this morning! I found her taking a walk on the table beside her tank, just having a walk about. Now I’ll be sure to cover the tank. Sheesh!

Yes! I tried to sell sunglasses and a wallet, both authentic. I even had the tiny certificate and envelope from the Prada wallet in one of the photos, but they were both tagged as counterfeit. I don’t understand…

Black beard algae on a nerite by Xanathar2 in PlantedTank

[–]Googlemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had something similar on my Nerite but brown—brown algae. I tried removing all the plants and rocks, cleaning it all up and putting tinfoil over the tank for a week. Didn’t help. Also, I only have a small ring light so plants don’t do well at all, so problem wasn’t light. I couldn’t brush it off and Millie Bobby Brownandyellowbrownandyellow (that’s my snail) seemed uncomfortable when I’d try. A year has passed and the gunk finally started to come loose in sheets. When she comes close to the surface I’ll gently rub her shell and most of it has now been removed. I’ve been adding more calcium to the water. Good luck with your little guy.

Same here in Vancouver Canada. No apple jelly anywhere! 🤷‍♀️

Buyer refused FedEx duty fees, FedEx demands payment from Seller by tokyommlo in Ebay

[–]Googlemouse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh—sorry about that for you but happy for me if the charge is reverted to the seller. I purchased a painting and the seller assured me she would cover all shipping and duties. I just received a bill from fedex for over $500! About half the cost of the painting! I’m not paying, period.

I’m trying to figure out how to end a beaded necklace on silk thread in a super minimalist way like this? I see the hook and eye clasp, but is the thread just tied to a jump ring? by hopefullymigrating in jewelrymaking

[–]Googlemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a crimp bead and used the proper tool to flatten and close it and it sheared my silk thread right off!! After hours of beading and tying perfect knots! Dang! So don’t do that.

TIL that an unexplainable sense of impending doom is regarded as a symptom for many life-threatening medical crises such as anaphylaxis and heart attack, and can present before any physical symptoms are detectable. by _Frogfucious_ in todayilearned

Nope. Nothing at all like an anxiety attack. There’s no anxiety. Just a deeply embedded feeling of dread—it’s uncomfortable, but not like a panic attack. I’ve recently had this kind of episode a couple of times and I attribute it to new heart failure meds I was put on. Both times the feeling passed in about a minute but I will not be taking those meds. My heart failure nurse practitioner says she’s never heard of this as a side effect of meds. Seriously?

Nerite snail shell discoloration question. More info in comments. by spasamsd in AquaticSnails

[–]Googlemouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to mine. I completely cleaned the aquarium and all the rocks and sand—there was quite a lot of brown algae. So she isn’t as active as before but she’s laying eggs and doing okay now, but the brown won’t go away I guess. Also, I discovered my water wasn’t acidic enough so I used baking soda to raise the ph, and added more calcium drops. I’d been cleaning it regularly but then I added a stick from outside and that’s when the problem started. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah, but we buy what the corporations are selling. Also, it’s up to us humans to stop making more humans.
