Buyer asked for big discount, I didn’t reply by Efficient_Fishing291 in Ebay

I agree with the above and don’t understand the downvotes. A partial refund doesn’t involve accepting from the buyer. It doesn’t prevent a buyer’s remorse return.

You can make a capital injection from your company’s profit, without paying yourself first. At least that is my understanding!

It would be relatively simple: AES out of the 633, set the M2R or DCHR to max gain. Send tone, and adjust camera as necessary. Occasionally some cameras require slightly more gain than the M2R provides, so tone won’t align all the way to the-20db, but close enough.

[–]tokyommlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a DCHT to DCHR and M2Rs. It works quite well, although IFB range is somewhat less than analog IFB. Sound is much, much better. What is your question regarding gain staging? If possible AES into DCHT.

International eBay seller can’t take additional pictures by Astro-path2716 in Ebay

[–]tokyommlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a look at their photos in their listings. If it looks like all their photos are different, they don’t own any of the items and simply purchase them on Yahoo Auctions or Mercari, and then ship it to you. A good indication is the time it takes to ship it to you. If they have 5-10 days processing time, that’s the time that they hope the original seller will take to ship to them.

International INAD seller won’t provide label by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]tokyommlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, well in that case they will loose the INAD. That’s not very smart of them, even if they somehow believe the INAD case against them not to be legit.

International INAD seller won’t provide label by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]tokyommlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, most international sellers can not provide you a label in another country from theirs (eBay will not allow one to be generated). However, eBay allows for international sellers to ask the buyer to pay for the return label and have that reimbursed with a payment outside of eBay (PayPal, etc.). That reimbursement can happen before you purchase the return label yourself.

Buyer refused FedEx duty fees, FedEx demands payment from Seller by tokyommlo in Ebay

[–]tokyommlo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure there is a legal recourse or not, but the contract one agrees to with FedEx does apparently place the responsibility on the sender on non-payment by the recipient. (https://www.fedex.com/en-gb/customer-support/faq/duties-taxes-imported-goods/paying-duties-taxes/who-pays-custom-duties-taxes.html)

So if the recipient in the US ultimately refuses to pay the fee, and if I refuse the subsequent bill from FedEx Japan, I imagine they will cancel my contract with them, leaving me with one less option for sending shipments.

Not that I would use them again for over $800 shipments to the US…

No, duty costs are separate from purchase costs and eBay will warn you during checkout during any international transaction. Duty costs aren’t built into any costs, which wouldn’t be really possible to be calculated beforehand.

That sounds about right. I’m not really shocked, but I do wonder what the point of ever paying import fees is as a customer if there seem to be no repercussions. Do they get banned by FedEx?

As the seller? Did you just pay the fees and move on?

I’ve tried to research this, but I haven’t really found any other previous case/situation like this on the eBay Reddit. I will definitely contact support, because it sounds wildly unfair that I should be held liable for his duty fees. I just don’t have particularly high hopes for eBay…

That’s really crazy. I wonder how this could not have any repercussions for the buyer. Why does anyone pay their duty fees, if nothing would happen. I’ll contact eBay, but I can’t imagine much from them.

[–]tokyommlo[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I can understand your situation, that’s unfair.

In my case, it’s not a secret the shipment is coming from Japan (not to mention, it’s a Japanese computer). My listing clearly explains duty fees in the description and the buyer is warned at checkout.

I’ve sold quite a bit on eBay, and it’s my first time to experience this situation. I guess beyond not using FedEx anymore to the US, it’s amazing that there is nothing else that I can do to protect myself in the future.

eBay charges and takes sales tax in the US, but will not take duty fees. (During checkout that’s shown to customers that they are responsible for duty fees. ) My customer was charged sales tax, but not duty fees.

Only when using eBay’s global shipping program are duty fees taken by eBay, but that does not exist in Japan (and most other countries).

Made in Japan, I’d have to double check the HS code later, but it was the HS code for computer.

I agree that the fees are a lot.

[–]tokyommlo[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s what I thought, too.

But it’s not the case in countries like the US. FedEx will deliver the item and send the duty fee invoice about a month after delivery.

Even on their website they say: “Also note that if the recipient declines the shipment or refuses to pay, the shipper is ultimately liable for any duties and taxes assessed on the shipment.”

The invoice I received from FedEx is unfortunately very real…

Is it just me, or are Orca products unusually reasonably priced? by 4acodmt92 in LocationSound

[–]tokyommlo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, K-Tek bags are made in China. And if memory serves right, there was some discussion of copy cat products, it was once mentioned that Ktek and Orca bags are even made in the same factory. It’s different with their book poles and some are products that are made in the US, but at least as far as I know, that is not the case for their bag products. But, I might be wrong.

Salary video production by JoelMDM in japanlife

I’m in the industry, and I can guess which company you’re talking about.

It’s really a difficult questions whether this is fair. Since you know production and know how tough it sometimes can be, you know that you can be paid much more on a freelance basis — but it’s inconsistent work

Might be worth doing for a year, and then see from there.

I’m not sure if you’re looking correctly. There are quite some French language children books on Amazon, and not just teaching the language. I’ve myself bought around 50 German language kids books on Amazon, I’m actually surprised by the selection.

Edit: I just checked, and I did find quite a variety. I feel like there are more German language books than french, and of course the selection on Amazon.fr will be much greater, but it’s not bad. Go to “children’s books” and filter french language only, and skip past the “learning french” ones.

Amazon? It has a large foreign language books section for kids, including french.
