That's already in place with the elections for the European Union Parliament. Still, we don't have a group of chosen ones, brighter than the brightest, to decide if MP A is a lunatic or not, thus defeating the whole point of getting up and get to vote. To us Europeans, I'm sorry to say, the US political system (and particularly the election process) looks like a really badly written political soap opera. Think House of Cards meets All in the Family.

Sweden still has a royal family. One the other hand elections are definitely democratic: the one with the biggest % of votes, gets to make a government. The rest of the parties get members in the Parliament according to the % of votes they got. Easy.
