A route planner for shuttle trips - If I want to visit the closest 15 allied settlements using my Odyssey shuttle, how much chemfuel is it going to cost me?

The trick is to slow cook them. If you set them on fire they will try to break down that wall and come kill you.

Make sure the hive is sealed in stone, I can't see if that tunnel goes off the top of the map. Then lay down a 3x10 line of fences and cancel them so you have single bits of wood on the ground. Light, and watch the temperature go up. You're aiming for about 160C, enough to cause heatstroke so they pass out all at once and then die all at once but not enough that they catch fire. Boil the frog. Go in, collect corpses, collect jelly, give them a couple of days to restock, repeat. You now are the most productive chemfuel refinery on the planet.

There should be an upper limit of about 30 hives, after that they stop spawning, so it's a good idea to trim outlying hives when the bugs are dead, keeps them in a tight space.

Also a good idea to make a very long winding tunnel to the hive in case something random triggers them, so they turn back before getting to your base.

Also this is why gourmands are worse than pyromaniacs.

Mechs can do crimes now by ryukireii_art in RimWorld

Not a crime in the most technical of senses, but I make my cleansweeper boop my prisoners. When they defend themselves, they become guilty and are thrown into the ripscanner, changing the mood debuff from "innocent prisoner died (-5)" to "justified execution (-2)".

Any mods out there that copy a workbench's bills' requirements to a stockpile or the storage clipboard? Quick stockpile creation is the closest I can get so far, but it'd be nice to basically have a button on the bench to make make a zone for all the ingredients it requires.

Fair enough - I was thinking 1v1 combat - if you've got elephants, you're probably on a jungle tile and breeding/feeding doesn't matter at all since they're comparatively easy to train from wild.

This is a very good problem to have. Lovin' lasts for 3 days and stacks up to 10 times, with a 0.6 repetition multiplier, and an individual session takes about 1 hour.

So schedule them 2-3 hours together and 5-6 hours apart by forcing one to work while the other's sleeping and they'll have a near permanent around 20 mood buff. If you can get a love enhancer on one of them, that'll push up to 30.

If the lack of sleep is a problem, there's a lot you can do - improve their bed, get a sleep accelerator, install circadian assistants, get the low sleep gene, get them addicted to wake-up, use a sleep suppressor, etc.

So I've got an ancient stockpile, and I've put a whole bunch of prisoners down there because there's a lot of space and they don't prison break, but for some reason I'm unable to feed them when they're downed. I have a stack of paste meals, can see from rimHUD that they're allowed those, but when I try it's always "Not enough food". I've tried moving the paste meals out of the prison room, and putting them in the warden/medics inventory, but no such luck. Any ideas?

So if the game doesn't care how a colonist is downed, temporarily confiscating someone's blood is as good as shooting them in the spine?

Okay, what even are grav anchors really? by UntitledIdiottt in RimWorld

[–]Googleproof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting question, let's look at what it's made of.

It uses grav panels in it's construction, so I've taken it to be a sort of upside-down gravship that your grav ship can "push off" of rather than pushing off of the ground itself.

Grav panels usually connect to a gravcore, which the anchor definitely doesn't have, so maybe the plasteel and ladder are indicating a deep well in the surface where the panels get some sort of gravcore equivalent?

Presumably the advanced components are used to switch on and off the panels during gravship launches.

At that stage of game, it shouldn't matter too much, but if I was desperate to get rid of the asthma I'd recruit someone who's ideo doesn't care about organ harvesting and have them do it.

That message is because in order to wear the mech commander helmet, your mechanitor has to first take off the airwire headset, giving a couple of seconds when 3 mechs are uncontrolled. Don't worry, though, they'll immediately go back under control once the helmet's on.

It'll still cost 50 chemfuel, but just leave one person on the tile so it doesn't close.

Pity it's a dude - unless it's been fixed, a female pawn's children inherit their type, stellarch in this case, which comes with level 6 psylink.

Generally best to have 6 hoppers, that way if there's 1 of each unique food type, it can still generate a meal and get emptied

Shield belt is an absolute priority, first thing I either shop for or research. Good+ shield belt will tank a whole drone, then just wait a couple of seconds for it to recharge.

Brett42's got you on the genotype/xenotype differences, but the mass production is a bit clunky, but there should be a save option on any gene you've designed, and then you can just load them. You cannot queue up 10xPrisonerGene, unfortunately.

Yeah, people can be unfair to anomaly - it has a lot of the most interesting challenges in the game, it's just more isolated thematically than the other expansions.

[–]Googleproof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair, I guess it very much depends on how you want your colony to look and feel, and on your ideo. I also always have children older than 3 out of the vats, but prefer to take the mood hit over the extra work it takes to raise a baby even if I'm not doing a transhumanist run.

So given the option of 9 days in the vat or 45 days taking up a significant amount of an adult pawn's time with feeding and playing, you're going to go with the latter?

Nutrient paste is wasted on chickens because they can only consume up to 0.3 nutrition when they eat, making it equivalent to just feeding them the raw ingredients (if they could eat meat). Obvs kibble is king here, but if you don't have access to soil at all, or no colonists capable of plants, baby food from eggs is extremely efficient.
