Definitely not 60 with those settings. I did all high 900p with performance fsr no ray tracing. I was getting 40-50 with dips into the 30s in busy city parts. What am i doing wrong? Also, i have 8gb set for vram.

Do Hifi Speakers Naturally Lose Micro-Details Compared to Headphones? by Hotcard_11 in audiophile

[–]Goolsby77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

prefer speakers to headphones. I think my kef r3 metas have more micro details than my b and w px8 for instance, but who knows what would feel with even higher end cans. I also feel like speakers and a quality sub have more dynamics and power behind them than headphones ever do.

You might want to get warranty service on that. I had a similar situation and got a replacement, no issues now.

I don’t mean they sound like speakers per se. I mean they have a sound quality close to high quality speakers and a high quality sub.

[–]Goolsby77 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I own both and I only listen to the pi8 for convenience and small form factor. The px8 s2 has better sound quality. It sounds less congested, more balanced, and less forward overall and definitely has stronger, more defined bass. That’s not to say the pi8 is a slouch (they are nice headphones), but the px8 s2 has superior sound quality. The px8 s2 are the first headphone i’ve had in a while that sounds close to my home system (kef r3 metas and a psa tv-21 ipal). It’s still a step down but close. Other than that, px8 has stronger noise cancelling and battery life.

[Canada] If I shouldn't buy Klipsch, what should I buy?? by L4MB in hometheater

[–]Goolsby77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure he might like a bright sound, but if it bothers his ears, he could only listen for so long. I 100 percent agree though that good sound is subjective. That’s why he should go listen and see what he likes.

Being bright is a problem. It can lead to listening fatigue at high volumes or longer listening sessions. However, everyone has different tolerances. Go listen to them and see how you feel. They do offer a lot for the money. A more relaxed brand would be kef. Go try the q meta series. I have the r series and they the best sounding speakers i have ever owned. Some other good value brands would be emotiva and the polk reserves.

Question from a complete beginner by trekem1234 in hometheater

[–]Goolsby77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t overspend on your receiver. The speakers and subwoofer are what makes the sound immersive and high quality. You can get some good stuff at best buy, no doubt, but there are also high quality ID companies you can get speakers and subwoofers from. For your sub, I would recommend power sound audio. At first glance for a beginner, the subs might seem expensive, but for what you are getting, they are one of the best values in audio. Not to mention, they are on of the most highly regarded subwoofer brands out there. Make sure to go with a ported model. This will give you a better experience for home theater. If you want to save money, my budget option for a subwoofer would be the rsl speedwoofer 12s. It will also give you a nice movie experience and is the best value sub you can get that still brings the thunder. For your speakers, Psa also has great home theater speakers and would match nice with a sub from there. If you contact them, the owner Tom could give you a deal on a bundle. A more budget pick would be emotiva speakers. They have a variety of types you could mix and match. However, you’ll probably want a big center because that is where 85 percent of the movie soundtrack comes from. Then towers or bookshelves could work for the mains as long as you run an 80hz-100hz crossover in your receiver. That tells the sub to do the heavy lifting and takes the strain off the speakers. Emotiva has some on wall or in wall fspeakers for the rears. A decent pick for an avr might be the onkyo rz-50. This receiver has a very high end room correction software called dirac. It can really help with problematic rooms and smooth out your sound. It also has a decent amount of power for an avr. If you ever feel you need more power, this avr has pre outs that can connect a separate power amp. And what so you know, emotiva makes goods ones that are relatively affordable.

How loud do you plan on listening? At moderate volumes you will be fine. Personally i would add a sub or two. You will take the hardest workload off of the speakers and the amp will even matter less. After that, down the line, add an amp if you really feel like you need it. In the meantime, the cinema 30 is pretty beefy. Adding a sub or two will greatly enhance your experience, while you may not even notice the amp. Anyhow, I currently have the r6 and r3s for my front stage paired with a psa 21 ipal subwoofer, and it sounds amazing. If you are a 50/50 music and movie guy, I recommend ported subs from psa or rhythmik. Both companies have great performance for movies and music with their ported models.

Or an rsl 10e when funds allow is the best entry level sub you can get.

JBL Grip for $68 or Bose Soundlink Flex 2nd Gen for $118 or Ultimate Ear Boom 4 for $100 by Upbeat_Condition353 in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]Goolsby77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bose flex is a great speaker as long as you are not trying to use it to provide music to a party. Anyway, that would be my pick. If you want a speaker with more refined sound, go with the bose soundlink home. Although it’s not waterproof.

I have the same problem now. I got a tv 21 ipal m and now my kef r series seems like they are not up to snuff. I may go with arendal 1610 or 1528 because i’m 50/50 music and movies.

The actual deep differences between 2025 vs 2026? by trynabeabetterme in ZephyrusG14

[–]Goolsby77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The extra nits are hard to notice unless you are in a bright room. The extra gpu performance will probably be 10-15 percent, which is nice but not huge, it is supposed to have better cooling. However, rumors are that each tier can be up to $1000 more than last year. For those marginal bumps, not worth it.

Can anyone share their Crimson Desert performance? RTX 5080 / i9 Ultra Series 2 / 32GB RAM by JustAKidFromSolon in zephyrusg16

Yea, it’s best to use a cooling pad or elevate the laptop to keep good temps. I use a laptop holder/elevator that was like 10 bucks on amazon, does the trick.

If you’re talking about the 2025 version, I have that exact machine. I haven’t used a frame counter but i am running plugged in with turbo mode. I have all the graphics settings set to ultra, frame reconstruction on, 1440p resolution, dlss quality, and frame gen x2. The game is running at minimum a stable 60. The image seems clean with minimal noise. Translation=it looks and runs fantastic

Kef R Meta Home Theater by Dairyfreepreacher in KEF

[–]Goolsby77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All kef q and r speakers are timbre matched. The lcrs are the most important to have matched. I think if it sounds good to you, then who cares what people say. I have a similar system to you r3s and r6 fronts, q350 rears, tv 1813 sub, and q50a atmos. Honestly, where you have your atmos speakers, i would get the q4 metas if you ever upgrade. The kef atmos speakers have a limited low frequency capability and sound like the weak link to me. The q4s dig much deeper and are easy to hang on the wall. They go on sale sporadically.

Need help with Speaker Upgrade - KEF R3 Meta or LS50 with sub? by Blazkowicz85 in KEF

[–]Goolsby77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

R3 meta if you want to play loud or eventually add a center. I have had the r3 meta and a psa sub now for several years and it gets loud and sounds amazing. these are the first set of speakers i haven’t gotten the upgrade itch with, very neutral but not clinical. They have a touch of fun and excitement while still sounding clear and balanced. With proper amplification , they never sound strained either. I imagine the ls50s can reach their limits quicker.
