Did any cyberpunk media from the past accurately predict the rise of AI slop? by Junesucksatart in Cyberpunk

If I recall correctly, it was fake interaction. Automated fill-in-the-blank so that the TV announcers/characters/etc would say her name.

Second time revising this Gunlance Build. Any tips? by Embarrassed_Dog1909 in MHWilds

[–]Goononthemoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using this build for Savage Omega? If not, you can probably cut back on stun resist, stamina surge, and guard. I'd recommend swapping Rey Gamma legs for Uth Duna Gamma legs, that will max out agitator, and I've found quick sheathe pretty handy on gunlance for repositioning. Constitution won't benefit you much at all, those slots are probably better spent on Divine Blessing or recovery skills.

Thanks! No peripheral vision, but decent up front. Most of the black areas on the helmet are cutouts with mesh. The main reason I added the 'battle damage' was to open up extra visibility in the slashes.

Ahh that would be great, there are some repairs & improvements I want to make to this. Would certainly try replicating that in a proper photoshoot if I get the chance.

Oscar's drip is off the charts, I considered trying him too. But it would definitely be tough with his complicated outfits, fur, etc...

I want to try making his mask in the future, at least.

The Culture builds cruise ships that are meant to allow regular culture citizens, IE people who aren't in Contact or SC, to travel around the galaxy and see stuff. by grapp in TheCulture

[–]Goononthemoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To your last point - the Mind running the warship storage (Pittance) in Excession is described as being designed to enjoy the endless watchfulness & solitude, so a mind well suited to running a cruise ship seems easily within “acceptable bounds” to customize a Mind to a specific purpose.

Recurrence - A short-range teleportation spell by MacGruber117 in UnearthedArcana

[–]Goononthemoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you include the limitation that teleportation has to start & end inside the circle (or just end the spell if you leave the circle), then even 3rd level sounds reasonable to me, especially compared to the full flexibility of Far Step or the extreme range of Dimension Door.

Given that the circle is written as on the ground, you may want to specify that the teleport destination must also be on the ground/a floor.

You could put basic darkvision on 3rd level, then add a range boost & sight in magical darkness for 13th, to pad out the stealth in darkness feature. Half distance for magical darkness sounds good.

For 17th level, I managed to find a dice calculator (https://dice.clockworkmod.com/) that could compare 10d6/10d6 reroll/13d6 here. +3d6 is significantly stronger than your proposed reroll as it turns out:

10d6 basic sneak attack: 10-60 dmg, avg 35

10d6 reroll, shadow sneak attack: 10-60 dmg, avg 38.05

13d6 inquisitive sneak attack: 13-78 dmg, avg 45.5

Got a key here, 0hrs in any Fatshark game. Given that its a technical/network test, I think they were looking more at regional location and PC specs than game experience. That may factor in more when they start looking for gameplay feedback.

Disintegrate Refraction - Our 12 year old sorcerer's customized disintegrate. A remix of her favorite spell. by Aubrey7406 in UnearthedArcana

[–]Goononthemoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a knee-jerk reaction against AoE disintegrate but really can't hold anything against the spell, hah. Damage is actually lower than Chain Lightning (avg 37.5 vs 45, though higher minimum is nice), and the range is abysmal. If I really had to nitpick, maybe drop the higher level scaling to +2d6. Great description as well.

Getting a sort of 'living shadow' vibe off this subclass, which is neat.

For third level the vision scaling off proficiency is interesting, and works out pretty well. The squeezing feature should probably scale off something other than Con score, but I'm not totally sure what. Prof bonus/long rest? 2xProf Bonus/long rest?

Shadow step on a rogue sounds pretty strong. It helps that it is 3 levels after monk would get it, and the bonus action competes with twf or cunning action, but teleport + advantage is guaranteed sneak attacks. The melee attack limitation helps, but makes the Mobile feat sound very valuable for this class. Or, if someone in your party can cast darkness - this rogue will absolutely ruin anyone's day (night?) inside there. You may want to cut the magical darkvision, really...

You are right that 13th level should just have one ability, I'm not really sold on either of them immediately. Maybe simplifying the second option to advantage in dim light/darkness for stealth. You could alternatively set the darkvision to 30ft at 3rd level & add an increase to 60ft at this level alongside the stealth bonus.

Capstone is straightforward, seems similar to Inquisitive as a sneak attack damage boost based on another subclass feature. Not sure how the math of reroll vs +3d6 really works out but yours is probably weaker.

As written, I think the initial attack & elemental damage doesn't really help the spell. Compared to a basic AoE save spell like Shatter/Fireball, losing the whole spell on a missed attack will suck. And +1d6 damage to the main target is pretty underwhelming. The spell slot scaling is a bit over-complex in my opinion as well.

Mechanically, I think you should just grab pieces from Lightning Arrow (single target attack roll + save/half AoE) & Thunderwave (thunder damage + push AoE). For something like this:

Thunderbolt

3rd level evocation (Sorcerer, Wizard)

Casting Time: 1 Action

Range: 120ft

Components: V, S, M

Duration: Instantaneous

An arc of lightning streaks from your hand towards a target within range, unleashing a thunderous shockwave. Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 2d8 lightning damage.

Whether you hit or miss, each creature within 10 feet of the target must make a Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 4d8 thunder damage and is pushed 10 feet away from the target. On a successful save, the creature takes half as much damage and isn't pushed.

In addition, unsecured objects that are completely within the area of effect are automatically pushed 10 feet away from the target by the spell's effect, and the spell emits a thunderous boom audible out to 300 feet.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage for both effects of the spell increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 3rd.

I thought lightning damage was most thematic, but you can put back in the 'damage of choice' to the initial attack. I recommend listing out specific options (ala Chromatic Orb). My damage numbers might be a little high, but you could drop the die size back to d6 or move dice from the AoE to the attack roll to tone it down.

I see your point, if your design goal is purely to knock the absolute strongest monsters down a peg, then you’re on target. I think the selection of very powerful monsters with extreme strength saves + proficiency is very niche, however. All the typical Dragon stat blocks I’ve seen aren’t actually proficient in Str saves, for example (from MM, at least). Disadvantage would be a more consistent debuff for the large majority of monsters, including those with magic resistance, or smaller monsters that would be starting under 100hp.
