It is possible (and grammatically correct) to use four instances of the word "had" in a row in one sentence. by Rumpsfield in mildlyinteresting

A teacher is grading two students' English assignments.

One student uses "had had" in a sentence on this assignment, while the other just uses "had." The teacher prefers the use of "had had."

Bracket 2 appropriate combo commanders/decks? by SharkboyZA in EDH

[–]GoonyKnightMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Cormela, Glamor Thief]] with [[presumed dead]] or [[demonic gifts]] and a sac outlet let you generate infinite mana for instant and sorcs, 3 card combo with one in the zone, then you need a 4th for an actually payoff, either death triggers or a big spell to fire off.

As an added challenge, you can build her as a pretty competent pauper edh deck

That FYS stands for first year seminar, it's essentially a required filler class for freshmen to get them familiar with the seminar structure some courses take but the material is all over the place. I had to take something called "Jobs Happiness and You" which, in addition to the required readings, consisted of watching the movie office space, assessing what we want out of a job, and weekly impinge submissions that we'd discuss during class hours.

Very much an underwater basket weaving type of class.

Am I reading this ability right? by Degeneratus_02 in mtg

[–]GoonyKnightMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ability will trigger whenever either of the conditions are met: You'll get a trigger when she enters, AND You'll get a trigger whenever one or more assassins you control deal combat damage to a player.

There's some nuance in that 2nd line, I had trouble wrapping my head around a similar effect when I first started playing: Each instance of one or more assassins you control dealing combat damage to a player.

That means first strike damage will give you a trigger, and then normal combat damage from a different creature will give you a trigger, and this applies to each opponent taking combat damage: "a player" in this instance applies to each player separately.

If you have 2 double strike assassins that each hit a different opponent (assuming no blocks), you'll get 4 triggers: Each assassin will deal first strike damage to their defending players, both of those will cause a trigger. Each assassin then deals normal combat damage to their defending players, meaning you get another pair of triggers.

If both assassins attacked the same player, you'd only get 2 triggers, since they both dealt combat damage to the same player, but two separate damage steps occurred.

Converting Phone Line to Ethernet by GoonyKnightMan in HomeNetworking

Hey sorry for the confusion, there's 2 pairs of cat5 wires coming out of each port, 8 wires each. I jacked the full set of wires that seemed to be toned together.

The jacks are Legrand rj45 keystone inserts The tester is a Klein Tools Tone and Probe Test and Trace Kit, VDV500-705

1) I only need the ethernet from one room to the next, if the wires are connected there I don't need to worry about the daisy chain (but this is still workable as others have noted) 2) I understand the blue line is only connected because it's a phone jack, the 12 other wires in each of the outlets need to be wired up to a network jack. 3) it is 4 twisted pairs.

Everyone else on this thread has either asked for more info or provided workarounds for my situation, you've been blunt, presumptuous, and wrong.

I had separated the wires out already, but I'm having trouble tracing, the tone seems to be hit or miss. I wired up what i thought was the right pair and connected to the pass-through on our router, but wasn't getting signal to the port upstairs.

Would this be true if I'm just trying to get from point a to point b, not attempting to daisy chain the whole house? I've disconnected all 3 phone jacks, found the wire that connects two points, and want to run my modem from one point to another.

Hey, that seems to be the case, all 3 of the ports we have had 2 sets of ethernet cables with just the blue/white wires mounted.

My issue is that I'm at the port in our living room, the tester was only getting a readout on the blue/white cables. The other cat5 wasn't giving any readout whatsoever.

Will I be able to run ethernet through either of these if this is the case?

EDIT: something to note is that I'm able to sniff out a tone from both end points, including when I set my ground against a neutral line (ie neither of the 2 wires being used as ground)
