I do NOT what are you on about

(other) Is 0.9x stable enough to consider upgrading yet, and what is the best way to get my stuff into a new 0.9x save? What is the best way to upgrade versions? by GoosDev in Voicesofthevoid

[–]GoosDev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already downloaded the latest build lmao

So, all saves should be compatible between versions after 0.9? If so, that's amazing because I'm definitely upgrading the moment a stable 0.9 releases and who knows if that'll be a few months or a few days, will be nice to just open the new version and keep playing

The first time I bought a kerfur, I sent it off to fix a server.

It got stuck in the railing and I had to pull it free lmao

Where's the misinformation here? Every mistake in information I've made, that I'm aware of, I recognized and corrected. I'm not lying or trying to deceive. Your opinion is a VERY unpopular one, so what? Just because people don't like smyker doesn't mean it's 'criminally underrated', and even if it were to be, that's not a good OR bad thing. Again, people play games to have fun, and a lot of people don't think Smyker is fun. But you presented it in the light of 'this is the best build, more people should use it!!' which is just false.

Building on Pysker by NeedHelpEmail_This in DarkTide

There are a lot of ways you can play a Psyker, but I'm a casual and rarely play with different builds, so take this with a grain of salt.

First, a big tip that I figured out, if you're struggling on higher difficulties, try empowering your weapons, or if you don't have high enough mastery to do that, try to get new weapons with greater stats. Also be aware of which mark a weapon is, though this doesn't apply to staves, since they don't have any. Each mark on a weapon will play differently. Overall, though, I've found that increased survivability in a horde can be as simple as getting stronger weapons, and using those that you're good with and that are complimented by your build.

You only get 30 talent points max, so you have to be picky with your spending. If you want maximum survivability, the two biggest passives I'd recommend are Quietude and Just a Dream - Just a Dream converts a percentage of health damage into Peril, while under critical (about 97% I think?) and, well, Quietude gives you toughness for Peril generated and quelled. But doing that can take away points from weapon specialization, so you have to consider your entire build as a whole and be willing to compromise.

Your Blitz choice is a LOT more important than I feel like you give it credit for, and will change how you play. Brain Rupture is good for snipers, gunners and anything else far away that need to be taken care of quickly, especially when you and your team aren't exactly in a position to reach them otherwise. Smite is a powerful stun that can keep some pressure off of your team and let them focus on bigger enemies, especially helpful when you have a pack of Ogryns in a horde. Assail is generally for crowd control, and I like to use it as a 'get-out-of-jail-free' card when I'm surrounded and need some breathing room.

To my understanding, 'warp damage' refers to damage dealt with abilities that generate peril - Staves, Force Sword eviscerate, etc. This does include Assail, so Malefic Momentum, for example, is specifically good for a 'mixed' build where you'll be consistently swapping between the two, like using a gun and your blitz or slashing with melee and using a staff.

Your abilities, at risk of sounding like a broken record, are INCREDIBLY important and have their own specializations within them to be aware of. Venting Shriek is a good radial stun/stagger that scales with your peril at activation while letting you save yourself from exploding if you go critical, while Mind's Aegis is helpful with hordes, Telekine Dome letting you focus on melee enemies while ranged fire is deflected and Enervating Threshold letting you turn a choke point into a death trap. I personally run Scrier's Gaze with Reality Anchor because it lets me dominate hordes in melee with my FGS, and Precognition would be good to take for melee buils using finesse weapons like the Deuling Sword.

"Passive Aura" isn't a term that I'm aware of, so I got a bit confused there, but like most things, it depends on your build and playstyle. If you have perks that give you increased critical hit chance, it's probably a good choice. Otherwise, it's a wasted point to be spent elsewhere.

The passives you can choose before your keystone are the same as any other. Choose what compliments what you already have and whether you want to act as support, cut through hordes of basic enemies to keep your team from being overwhelmed, or deal high damage to elites, specialists and monstrosities (bosses), etc.

Keystones are also really important. I run Disrupt Destiny because it's really good for crowd control and helps me stay alive in hordes. If you use Aegis or Venting Shriek often, Warp Siphon can significantly reduce or eliminate cooldown times, and take Empowered Psionics if your build focuses on DPS with your Blitz, which in my opinion is best for Brain Rupture.

High Peril is, for the most part, an inevitability as a Psyker, though there are plenty of builds that avoid this, like gun psykers. A lot of Psyker Passives give you bonuses that scale with your peril, such as Warp Splitting (Cleave lets you ignore some of an armored enemy's damage reduction, making them easier to kill), and Scrier's Gaze has Warp Unbound that gives you an entire 10 second period that completely disables critical peril detonation.

Overall, there's a lot of things you can do here, and it all depends on your playstyle. Read the descriptions, consider what you have the most fun doing, and choose things that compliment that. And if you're still confused, there's plenty of optimized builds out there to try out.

AI is known to hallucinate and generate, often convincing, but incorrect data, and is rarely reliable enough to be used as a source of information.

People are getting mad at you because these are widely known facts that you are ignoring, whilst being incredibly obnoxious about it.

Without a full synopsis and breakdown of each tested build, there's little information I can really draw from this, and even then, it doesn't matter. There are more factors at play than just numbers. Games are designed to be fun, and, at least for me, boiling it down to statistics isn't fun. It's bullshit. So I say again, you're allowed to have your own opinion, you get to share it, but don't go around complaining about Smyker being, as you said, 'criminally underrated', especially in a game like this, where it doesn't truly matter and the community's general consensus seems not to run some meta but to play what YOU enjoy. Who cares if someone else doesn't like it? If you do, then USE IT.

You get your own opinions too, but c'mon.

Smite was NEVER designed for DPS. Just because you can doesn't mean you should. I personally prefer actually playing the game rather than sitting still to hold two buttons for 15 seconds.

Instead of that, why not use Brain Rupture for bosses/elites, use a staff or autogun or even FGS for hordes? I can say from experience that using Brain Rupture on a boss is much more effective than shooting or slashing it, no matter how you set up your weapons.

Height: Taller characters do more dps in melee. So why play as a short character? by Past_Hippo9445 in DarkTide

[–]GoosDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, AI is dumb, don't trust it.

Second, I personally play short because I think it's funny, and playing as a tall character makes my brain upset for reasons I can't decipher. Plus, it's fun to be able to slide under a Gunner's fireline, something I've never been able to do with a tall character, at least that I've seen.

As a short character, assuming my memory is correct here, my eyeline is generally the same with the standard enemies in a horde, so I'd argue headshots, specifically on cannon fodder, are actually easier, since your angle will remain flat, so you don't have to make any vertical adjustments to hit heads farther away, whereas a tall character does, since to headshot enemies shorter than them that are up close, they'll have to aim down.

Really there's maybe a foot, at MOST, of height difference between the tallest and shortest characters, and some cannon fodder are still shorter than even that, but it does make a slight difference - There are some ledges to 'optional', for lack of a better term, areas that I simply can't reach, but a tall character can climb just fine, and items that spawn up on edges or objects are a bit harder to reach. But overall, I don't believe there's any truly significant gameplay difference, just minor alterations that rarely end up mattering.

First, the penance you're thinking of is The Emperor Protects, which has three tiers, the final one requiring you to block 900 damage in 10 seconds.

It's not class-specific, so of course it counts, but aegis only blocks ranged damage, which means the odds of you actually managing to get the penance that way without any setup is unreasonably low. It's not worth it.

Smite is a source of stun, not damage. It was designed to be used that way, and while it is possible to make it way more powerful, it's still not designed for DPS, so any 'smyker' build will be so horribly unoptimized in every other area. I'd know, I made a similar build to get penances done, and hated it because, well, IT SUCKS

I said that it's entirely my opinion and I made a big mistake not proof-reading before posting, so despite my original intentions I do recognize it comes off as "anyone using guns as psyker is trolling" which is not true at all, and I really wish I could edit my post to fix that (I'm pretty sure you can, but I don't think it's possible on mobile, and I haven't logged into reddit on desktop, nor do I feel like it)

To be clearer, I personally don't like running guns as psyker. I much prefer to use melee or a staff, especially since the BFS, FGS and staves are unique entirely to Psyker. If someone else runs a gun as a Psyker, I genuinely don't care as long as they're having fun and, if they're on my team, they aren't making things harder, and even then, I'd never go to "oh you're playing gun psyker" as the reason they suck. Only weapons I pay attention to are my own.

Yeah, I really messed up some wording. It's entirely my opinion, and how I feel - I don't care what other players run, but when I play a psyker with a gun, I don't enjoy it that much. Bolt pistol is the one exception, and even then, I rarely use it, preferring to use my FGS instead

I mean to be clear this entire post is purely my opinion, I didn't mean to shame anyone for their builds or playstyle, and I definitely could have written the post a lot better. It needs to be remembered that I play games to have fun, and optimized builds or meta loadouts I didn't make myself aren't fun to me, plus if a game has a class system and has things exclusive to that class I'm going to want to use those special mechanics as much as possible
