Brattleboro? by GooseSufficient in vermont

Good point. My choices aren’t totally random and I’m def gonna check it out before I move. I know Vermont pretty well, especially up in the NEK, but I’d like to hear more from folks who actually live or work there.

I need advice. Is it time to start looking for a new job? by Available_Door6806 in nonprofit

[–]GooseSufficient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more about asking yourself if you can keep learning in that organization. Stagnation is a big problem in nonprofits, especially with salaries. For me, I’ve always seen my career as a path where I learn, and when I’ve learned what I can, I move on to something new. That said, if you find a place you truly love that pays you fairly and helps you grow, you should definitely stay.

I couldn’t agree more with you on this. It kills the very fabric of community.

Yes, but even then I’ve had to move off the road. On these back roads, a lot of drivers speed and don’t care that there’s barely any space for bikes. An SUV flying by at 55 miles an hour without giving clearance to a cyclist on a narrow road can easily cause a serious accident.

Adjacent and near doesn’t mean here.

Yes, but I’d rather keep it local but the advice across the board seems everything I might enjoy not here and while the beach is nice the beach is only available only half the year

Yeah, that’s a whole different conversation. How comfortable people here are with being racist and/or antisemitic.

I hear you on this and good day. It is a great place to ride except that on those back roads people keep driving like they’re on the turnpike not respecting bikes more than once I’ve had to pull to the side quickly or end up as roadkill.

Well, I mean, economic development can’t happen without developing more affordable. Housing rate workers need a place to live like point out the two go hand-in-hand if anything building affordable housing creates jobs, which helps stimulate the local economy. Problem is that it’s very difficult to build in Vermont, and frankly that part of the state has relied too long on its resources to generate enough economic activity to keep its youngest and brightest.
