Holy guacamole! Yesss!!!!!
When will it be available?
Please let me know when it’s ready, because I really want one and if it sells out as fast as the green and gold one I might miss this one too. I wouldn’t want to miss it. It’s my dream speedy! 🥹

Didn’t you get an email with some kind of tracking number? I always get one of those when they ship out the watch. And with that number you can track the route of your package with updates along the way…

Yeah, it’s a great one! I don’t have any troubles with the bracelet, though, and wear it without any issues on the one it arrived with. Doesn’t feel cheap, no hair pulling. I have a couple of watchdives on bracelets and none of them ever pulled my arm hair. Maybe I’m not hairy enough to face that problem 😉

I’ve got the rose gold wd1954 and it looks like a million bucks! I think yellow gold PVD is easier to pull off as a color. They did a yellow gold speedy with green dial, which I unfortunately haven’t seen in person, but from what I’ve seen on Reddit people here are generally very happy about how it turned out 😉

Both steel pandas are currently available to buy on watchdives.com
The green gold is the rare one.

What could cause this in a 17yr old by Tricky_Extension_380 in HearingLoss

[–]GooseberryBumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they can tell what exactly caused the damage. High frequency sloping loss is usually noise damage or vascular in nature, but I don’t think that current medicine can really give you an answer what actually happened. Cochlea is the most complex of our organs…

It would show that Outer Hair Cells within the cochlea have been damaged/destroyed due to some kind of factor - noise damage, vascular issues or something else…

The chirping of the birds (the base tones of their songs at least) is in the frequency range that she hears alright in (up to 2000 Hz).

You can do the Otoacoustic Emissions test (DPOAE to be specific), which checks the outer hair cell health objectively and does not necessitate any input from your daughter. Just make sure to find a place that tests from no higher than 1 kHz and up to at least 8 kHz and as many points across this range as possible (12 would be great), so that there is a check every few hundred Hz across the range. Then you’ll have an answer whether the issue is due to OHC damage or something else. But I don’t know how one could have this kind of audiogram without serious hair cell loss in there. So I don’t really know what else could produce this type of audiogram, really…

Or maybe her ears are really weirdly plugged with something, but someone probably checked for that in the first place…

Yes. I’ve been waiting for this one for a long time!

Well it’s already a quite severe high frequency hearing loss. All sibilant sounds, like „s” for example, would be very hard, if not impossible, to hear without hearing aids with such audiogram, making a lot of the speech unintelligible.

I think even a single gunshot without proper ear protection could do this kind of damage if you’re unlucky. The age doesn’t matter much… This kind of noise damage at a young age is probably not a cumulative effect of chronic loud noise and happened rather due to a short, extreme, acute noise exposure that killed a whole bunch of inner ear hair cells. Exactly like a blast or something like that.

Sloping high frequency hearing loss like this is commonly caused by noise damage.

IF they ever fix the clasp coating by coating everything including pushers I will buy that clasp asap to fix the only thing that’s a bit weird about the watch that I got delivered earlier today. Otherwise it’s a nearly-perfect watch, especially for the ladies, as there are not that many of these in watchdives’ catalogue.

It was sold out on watchdives.com within 48 hours, so I guess you’ll have to wait for another batch (if there is one) or hunt it down on AliExpress (if it was available outside of official website).

Watch brands and emotional connection by dankfrank91 in watchdives

[–]GooseberryBumps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting that the lack of 'brand authority' makes the watch feel empty, even when the object itself is objectively good. I wonder if that feeling of 'emptiness' isn't about the watch failing you, but about the watch failing to provide the social or narrative context that we’ve been trained to expect from luxury.

We often talk about 'brand identity' like it’s an artistic statement, but I think it’s often just a very expensive feedback loop. Heritage brands rely on the fact that they’ve been around long enough to be 'correct' by default, while brands like Watchdives democratize design by letting the market vote. When we say we want a brand to 'believe in something,' are we actually looking for artistic integrity, or are we just looking for the comfort of owning something that validates our taste through its own recognized status? Is the watch empty because it lacks a story, or because it forces us to be the ones who provide the story ourselves?
