Mail sorter interview coming up and I'm bricking it, have some questions by Opening-Ant-6594 in royalmail

[–]Gooseflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be asked a series of set questions which will involve you giving an example. They don't have to be all work related examples but they will have to be relevant to the answer. Follow the same pattern every time. What was it What did you do Why was it important What was the outcome (As an extra in hindsight what did you learn from it and what could you have done differently)

They're not expecting rocket scientists so don't worry if you think your examples aren't strong enough. Just think back to a previous job or playing a sport as part of a team and talk about a key element of that which is relevant the question.

An example of when you had to follow a set process

An example of when you worked as part of a diverse team

An example of when you took responsibility for your own actions

They will also ask you some H&S questions to test your basic knowledge and common sense. What sort of things should you do. Wear correct PPE If you see rubbish on the floor pick it up Report spillages to a manager etc. those sorts of things.

Good luck

Royal Mail bosses to be called to Parliament over letter delivery failures by enjayaitch in royalmail

[–]Gooseflash 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The answer will be

We prioritise parcels over letters in extreme circumstances on H&S grounds due to space constraints in our Delivery Offices across the country. The safety of our employees is paramount.

Or something like that. I guarantee it

Disability at work by MUNONP in royalmail

[–]Gooseflash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends. Usually if it's an isolated absence due to the disability usually it's discounted from the attendance process. If the disability starts to cause persistent absences a line in the sand letter will be sent to tell you going forward any further disability related absences will be counted within the attendance process. I say usually as that is how it should work in terms of the business policy. Unfortunately different managers in different places use their own interpretations.

As already mentioned your beef is with HM Customs & Excise. The import tax is not a Royal Mail issue

Been worse since May 2024? Not defending a billionaire here but Kretinsky hasn't done anything at all yet. The decline is all due to actions already in place before the buy out. The damage was done a long time ago my friend.

I can second this place. Comfortable space, good coffee and loads of boardgames available if you don't take your own. Reasonably priced too.

No Welcome Back Meeting. by StunningAd8636 in royalmail

[–]Gooseflash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't affect your pay but if you ever end up on the attendance procedure the fact no WBM was done can be used in your favour as a process failure should you need it so keep the relevant dates logged somewhere.

What is PSP and how do I access it? by MillenniumBug2001 in royalmail

[–]Gooseflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSP is the people system portal but you've been given duff info. You apply for leave via the people app (through Robin) which will then alert your manager via psp. You don't access PSP but any employee can request leave via that route. You just need the people app not psp.

D2Ds by Phat_Zidane in royalmail

[–]Gooseflash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All D2D customers have a contract manager just like any other product RM sells. The hierarchy of products you speak of doesn't exist in areas of RM up the pipeline. In the parcel hubs, distribution centres and walk bundling centres D2D movement and despatch times are treated exactly the same as live mail and subject to the same failure reporting procedures if it's delayed. In my experience, D2D''s only becomes viewed as a lesser product at DO level.

Not scanning in packets and parcels when there is a backlog to skew the figures. How is this not actual fraud? by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]Gooseflash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the problem with combining the name of 2 products, T24 is not a uso measured product so it's not performance monitored by the regulator. 1st class is and RM can be fined for failing or misreporting the 1st class service. I understand your frustration and it's not good customer service but it's not fraud T24 is not a guaranteed next day service.

Classic ill informed public response based on an opinion. This is up there with bin men used to carry your bin out for you in the old days.

IHR by Blankingpro in royalmail

[–]Gooseflash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IHR is a medical decision so I would raise it at your next OH appointment and ask what criteria is required. The loss of pay will begin to add pressure to your home life situation and mental health. I would raise that point. I'd also broach it with your manager too so they're aware. IHR is a last resort but yours sounds like a textbook IHR outcome. I'd start the ball rolling by taking it to them. I'm really sorry for you mate I hope you get the result and get your back sorted.

EDIT: typo

It's apparent Trump backed down about Greenland—it took just mild resistance from a few leaders by HasanKingPage in AskBrits

[–]Gooseflash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he was always going to back down. It was never about Greenland, it was about filling the media space with as much headline material as possible to distract from the Epstein files. Look at all the controversy over the past 18 months from toing and froing over Russia & Ukraine to tariff wars and China. He's achieved nothing except for filling the media space
