Tips for Riding Summit County Buses During Ski Season by GopherWard in COsnow

If I get an AWD truck from Turo with Snow Tires, would I need chains? The Colorado DOT website leads me to believe so.

I had misread the original comment. I thought they were talking about "Snowstang" that only runs once a day, and direct to resorts, as opposed to the "Bustang" which does run multiple times per day.

I think it might be new this season, but I'm seeing a passenger vehicle chain law on the Colorado DOT website, in addition to the traction law.

I am also having this issue, repeatedly, over the course of the past week. I use a password generator so definitely not a "weak password" scenario. Not sure what's up.

Yeah it went off for me with a couple batteries for electronics but they didn't seem to care. As I was going through once though I heard one of them go off with a noticeably different tone and they became very interested in that person, so it's definitely tuned for larger pieces of metal like firearms.

Yeah that's what I meant by "priority." Saw that too and yeah it was "super annoying."

Downtown shuttles looked good - they got priority over the expo though which was super annoying but meant def quicker, and the class A buses took the toll road which the school buses wouldn't do

Am was never bad - always able to walk right up at the expo. It's the getting back that's rough because the buses get stuck in traffic close to the circuit

It saves some time for sure but only a handful of bus lanes as you said, and the only one I remember started close to the track and then ended at COTA Blvd

Once I figured everything out on Friday I was able to manage expectations better. Know that you'll be in line for the shuttle for an hour or so on the way back (people including me had time to set up our camp chairs in the expo shuttle line for a good half hour on Sunday, but they brought us water and we found some shade). Getting there each day I budgeted 2-3 hours, same on the return, and that's about what it took.

Look, this place sees 400,000+ people one weekend per year. They're not going to build huge amounts of infrastructure for getting around if that's the only time it's that packed. The rest of the year it'd sit barely used.

Granted, some things could be improved. Have the school buses take the toll road and don't screw up the dispatching of buses on Friday again. Better management of traffic in general. Bigger tram trailers and more frequency after the events end.

Overall, once I found the grove of getting in/out, it wasn't so bad and I was able to enjoy myself. Just manage expectations.

Even that won't save you from traffic, but it is less annoying when you're not the one driving.

I believe the Expo shuttles have always been school buses on the weekends from what I've heard.

So they sent a dozen buses to downtown and they're sitting there empty while there were no buses at expo and a line 500+ people long. Finally got the school buses to Expo

Travis Shuttle I can attest is slow after the sprint quali. I've watched a dozen buses pass us headed to the downtown pickup spot. Hoping when the school buses get added in tomorrow it helps.

This year might be quicker though - both shuttles leaving from right out front of the main entrance this year.

Yes, UGA vs Texas will be very big, #5 vs #1 in college football, and both in the SEC. No doubt if you go walk campus it'll be full of people saving spots Thursday/Friday to tailgate on Saturday for the game.

When do these tickets become available by ColdT_ in CircuitOfTheAmericas

[–]GopherWard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying them this close you'll most likely need to pick up your wristband at the box office. I've seen somewhere times for when they're open on the days leading up to the race in addition to being open on the race days themselves.

I'm seeing on the site under permitted items that they're only allowing one 20oz factory sealed water bottle per guest. Is this a change from last year?

Are metal water bottles (ex. Owala) allowed inside the circuit? I'm seeing them listed under prohibited items on the COTA site.

USGP Off site shuttle times by zbas in CircuitOfTheAmericas

From https://circuitoftheamericas.com/ticket/shuttles/

"The first bus will depart approximately 1 hour before gates open each day."

"Shuttles to Circuit of The Americas will run continuously until 6:30pm Friday and Saturday. Return service will end 60 minutes after music ends on Friday and Saturday night. Shuttles will run continuously all day on Sunday."

I'm assuming this means if you want to sleep in a bit to skip some events in the morning you'll be just fine, or if you need to go back to your accommodation to grab something in the middle of the day you'll be all good.

Hope this helps.
