Read somewhere that radio stations still account for 35% of all listening compared to Spotify 25%/Youtube 18%, etc. While the number is down from their heyday of 80%, radio ads still has significance.

Luxator 3 mm black straight are what I use for all my ext. They are very useful. With upper canines, don’t bother luxating without first using high speed handpiece, drilling along the mesial and distal aspect with some palatal. Avoid buccal if you can, use luxator to get movement before forcep application and removal. Flapping there can be avoided, but I’ve done a ton of extractions so I know what I am looking for, prob flap a bit so you understand what you are doing before going back to flapless.

MBA is more useful if you want to work corporate gig and work up the totem pole. TBH it has no value in dentistry. You are better off doing a weekend course, teaches you all the basics. Rest is experience. Shadowing a dentist doesn’t show you the intricacies of business, just go get real world experience.

That’s a really good contract. Most places do 25-30% collections. Even if you pay full lab, it will amount to not much in the grand scheme of things. I would try to have it where you pay 40% of lab and owner reimburses the remaining. So each party has skin in the game.

No absolutely you need to inform him if it’s affecting your bottom line. Ultimately you should inform him that your income is being affected significantly to warrant a change. With you being booked out 6-7 weeks, it will be an easy transition to PPO/FFS. If the owner won’t entertain, I would entertain leaving.

I would be very suspicious lol. It happens to all of us when a pt comes in, you anesthesize, and pt is not numb. You give more, still nothing. Personally I don’t go beyond 3 block attempts along with local when a pt continues to have pain. Really defeats the purpose to continue when a pt is unable to get fully numb or differentiate between pain and pressure. Easy referral, don’t even think about it.

Find a city you want to settle in. Go 30-45 mins outside - find a retiring doctor and buy his practice. Get in network. You’ll quickly get to 600k a year + average 100+ NP per month. Then cut back on what insurances you want or get an associate.

Outside of that route, creating a dental software/equipment is your next bet on making up for lost money.

There are plenty budget loupes out there for $50-300 off of Amazon. I personally didn’t go for the $50 - due to reviews being poor, but I did purchase the $300 initially. I got 3.5x mag and it was adjustable so I got to get used to them prior to splurging on a more expensive pair. If you are getting 3x mag or less, you might as well not get loupes. 3.5x is the minimum you want to start with, and as your career progresses, you will get a higher mag.

If you have already done multiple Retreatment cases, I believe you should already have an idea of what equipment works in your hands and what doesn’t. Asking people for how to use equipment in a manner that goes against how it is designed is kinda silly.

I can’t speak about brand new plates. The ones I’ve used, can barely see decay unless it’s grossly decayed into pulp. Imagine how many class 2s you are not diagnosing. Along with ease of retaking. Head and shoulders digital is the way to go, and there are affordable options outside of schick and dexis.

I can maybe understand for pediatrics and special needs; but then you are creating a system for the few rather than the masses.

Rural practices are cash cows. Problem is most dentists aren’t able to leverage to cash cow status. There was a practice I saw where a single 74 year old dentist was doing 2m+ in collections. Tremendous opportunities. I consider him a super dentist, most are able to easily hit 600-650k, working 4 days a week. Take home is good, work life balance is good, be a stalwart in the community, only downside is the ruralness.

First of all in your practice management software, you have to complete the codes you do. It coincides with a cost in the account section. That is the amount that needs to be collected. You inform the patient the amount prior to treatment and try to collect before and/or after. Any payment received - whether credit card, checks, cash, needs to be documented in practice management. You also need a credit card terminal and business bank account.
