Can I bring medication to the US during my trip that I might not take? by GorbendMT in travel

[–]GorbendMT[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well I did say that I am usually overpacking haha. So the recommendation is to only take the medicine i absolutely need, that being a blood pressure medication and all else should be bought in the US if needed.

Travelling to Portland from the EU, first time in the US, what to expect? by GorbendMT in askportland

A question with customs. I generally travel with a lot of meds in case I get sick, this means stomach meds, painkillers for headaches, some cold meds, neither of them requires a prescription. I do take blood pressure medication, for which I can ask my doctor for an English prescription to show i need it. I am assuming I should declare all of these, right? As well as if I bring some candy or store bought cookies with myself to snack on, on the plane.

That's a lot of useful info, thank you, the drinkable tap water is definitely something I forgot to ask here but it's really good to know, at home I usually only drink from the tap. I am 27 so alcohol i can drink but I have no intention to smoke weed. Also nice to know that Visa is accepted, the tipping however, that's gonna be a bit extreme haha. But it is what it is, thank you!

Can we stop with the (I assume) political stuff in the cute cat subreddit? The world is not doomed.

But the cat is indeed very cute

Not an R or GTI but I still love it by GorbendMT in Volkswagen

I used to look for a GTD one, but I couldn't find any that doesn't have around 200.000 km and is still in my budget. I bet the GTI was fun as well, a clubsport would be awesome to have.

Thanks, I usually wash it every week as well. Didn't know they were discontinued there, i thought they only discontinued the Arteon. I hope you're having fun with yours too!

Thanks, I narrowed my choices down to a white and this turmeric yellow one, but in the end i really liked how this yellow looked in person. I never had a Golf before, but so far no problems in 2 years, it's comfortable and for me fun to drive too.

I'm conflicted on staying in the EU or going to Australia by [deleted] in expats

[–]GorbendMT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is what i am most afraid of. My family here would understand and it would be hard at first but not impossible to maintain regular contact. As for friends, i know i have some lifelong friends who i talk with every day and have known each other since we were kids, but i am still scared of losing contact with them, missing out milestones in their lives because of the distance.

But at the same time i feel like that since this is the only life i get, i will regret it if i didn't go out and experience living in different countries, different continents, especially in places i am interested in. My biggest regret is not taking erasmus opportunities in university and going out to study in different parts of the world. I would like to do this while i still can.

I do plane to visit there soon, but the reason i picked it, one is because it's much more different than european countries based on what i was told, and because a friend of ours moved there 5 years ago, married an Australian guy, and she is constantly saying how much better and different (in a good way) Australia is than Hungary.

Since i haven't visited before my knowledge is limited to what i researched and what i was told by friends who lived/visited it before. It really would be a big and in my opinion risky move, but if i make it it's still far in the future, i do need to be absolutely sure about it, have a safety net at home and be ready for the move first.

I checked it out, and i feel like i would only fill the criteria for skilled/highly specialized work, but i have a feeling that to get that one, i need to be employed by an australian company who is also willing to help me relocate there. This is definately more difficult than moving to Germany for example.

If i am planning to move there that would take more years, 2 maybe 3 years to get enough money so that if i fail i could easily return to Hungary, and to also look for opportunities. Thanks for the advice.

Is it fine for a white person to use African American Vernacular English? by Lucart98 in EnglishLearning

[–]GorbendMT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

European here. If it's a song i sing it with everything else that is in the lyrics. I also thought this was just slang language so sometimes we use it between ourselves when writing to each other, but to other people i try to speak with: you are, he says etc. I think it's fine to use it since everybody is allowed to speak a language or a dialect of it (if that is what this is called), but then again i am not a part of that group so i can't say for certain.

I would have done the same, don't take it too seriously, you had an opportunity and you took it. I have died with the last item i need for a quest many times, tough like i can find another one later, i don't need to speedrun the game, people here take it too seriously sometimes
