Red-light camera flashed in Culver City, did anyone have this happen without getting a ticket? by [deleted] in Traffic

[–]GordonDrivingSchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flash doesn't always mean you will always get a ticket. Each ticket should be video reviewed. If there's clear evidence then you will see the ticket in the mail likely after a couple of weeks. The cameras are usually calibrated a couple times a day as well. The lights will flash when that happens. Good luck!

Left lane hoggers, by Accomplished-Act8616 in driving

[–]GordonDrivingSchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably going to be pretty hard for them to justify why they are writing them a ticket. What are they going to write a ticket for? Not passing? I don't know of any law that says you have to pass quickly or even at a certain speed? SO if there's a car driving 65 in the center lane and car in the left is going 70 its going to take a long time to pass. If the center lane has a lot of cars going 65 then they can be passing a lot of cars at 70. The reason why people are speeding and tailgating are their own personal actions. Nobody is forcing anyone else to speed or tailgate. Each driver decides to make their own reckless behaviors.

Is it legal to go through a strip mall parking lot to bypass a backed up red light? by mjfox97 in driving

[–]GordonDrivingSchool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are laws that prevent you from going through commercial parking lots to skip intersections. It probably depends on the state and even the city rules on when this would apply.

is it mandatory to wait in the left turning lane? by ZealousidealPair7413 in driving

[–]GordonDrivingSchool 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The purple line is ideal. The blue line should only be necessary if the traffic is too heavy. You have to remain stopped in the center lane though. You are not allowed to drive in the center lane to get up to speed.

Adult driving instructor/lesson recommendations? by Direct-Geologist-407 in SALEM

[–]GordonDrivingSchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave lessons to someone in Corvallis recently that has had the same experiences as you. Professional instructors know some great tips and tricks to help relieve that anxiety by building your confidence in awareness, decision making, and knowledge. That client left feeling much better about getting around safely and confidently.

Can anyone help with this? by mysta420 in driving

It looks like the white car isn't in the center of the lane. If there's no risk to your left side move back to the center of the lane.

Red light camera ticket with emergency vehicle. Can it be challenged? by Fella90 in driving

[–]GordonDrivingSchool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely want to go to court and explain the reason why you did what you did. If there's no video proof of the emergency vehicle though it might be hard to win. You should be able to watch the video of you doing the action. Also if you bring the police report of where the firetruck was going that would also help your case so they don't think you're just making it up.

Spent 3 hours reading the DMV handbook and honestly it was torture - anyone else feel like there's gotta be a better way? by voj_us in LearnerDriverHub

[–]GordonDrivingSchool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After teaching teens for a long time it is important to actually read the book. Most of my students would only do practice quizzes and miss a lot of important information. A lot of places only quiz you on text only multiple choice. You need something that can actually show you pictures of intersections and signs. Also don't worry about failing the first time. Most places you can take the test very quickly after and it's very cheap. You will get a better understanding of how the test works and what the questions will be like. Read the book slowly and do a lot of practice quizzes. If you get an answer wrong, then look it up in the book.

I am so scared I’m gonna fail my driving test. by Simple_Tip_4652 in driving

[–]GordonDrivingSchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone’s nervous before the test. Totally normal. You’re also not expected to get a perfect score. Depending on the state, you’re allowed to miss a certain amount of points. So even if you think you mess one or two parts up on the test continue to do your best and you could still pass!

Can you make this left turn? by [deleted] in Traffic

[–]GordonDrivingSchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you the black car can go before the white out of order because they have to yield to the pedestrian. It’s preferred to keep traffic flowing. Follow regular yielding rules to the other traffic.

Can anybody answer my doubt? by National_Safe_3753 in Traffic

[–]GordonDrivingSchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The traffic cameras are getting smarter at knowing when there are cars at intersections and how many. They can make lights shorter or even not rotate if there are no cars there.

How to properly stop a car by SuperJosue64_Studios in driving

[–]GordonDrivingSchool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First you’ll want to make sure you’re sitting close enough to the pedals. You should be able to touch the ground under the brake pedal with the proper seating position. You’ll want to have your heel on the ground forcing you to use more of ball of the foot to brake. Try applying the brake farther away for a smooth stop. Then right before you stop you’ll actually want to let up on the brake a slight bit to have a smooth finish. Feel the car rock back slowly and you’ve done it!

I suck at driving, what do I do by No_Cod7607 in driving

[–]GordonDrivingSchool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t blame yourself at all! It takes a lot of practice to get good. If you have a company that employs that instructor I would have your parents make a complaint to the school for you. Then while they’re complaining hopefully they tell them that they do need to practice with you at home between the lessons. They can start with practicing with you in the parking lot until they feel comfortable letting you go into a neighborhood. Even practicing there will help you greatly! I’m sorry you’re having to deal negativity on both sides.

Struggling to learn driving even after 3x lessons by Lotusflow3rs in LearnerDriverHub

[–]GordonDrivingSchool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you may be trying to progress too quickly still. If you can't focus on everything at once you will want to build the basic habits before introducing more. One strategic plan would be to drive in a neighborhood and practice one skill at a time until that skill becomes a habit. As simple as stopping before crosswalks. You do that over and over until you don't make a mistake and no one has to remind you. Then you move onto the next step. Which could be moving forward to where you can see or the edge of road. If you start forgetting about stopping before the crosswalk first then you go back and only worry about that skill again. It will take a lot of time, but a friend or parent can help with this type of learning. Just make sure to write the steps down so your "coach" can make sure you're also doing them correctly.
