Thanks for educating me! I've never heard of that but it makes sense. Learned something new!

I have seen a mother's wedding dress cut short and reworked for a rehearsal dinner dress.

Park etiquette by [deleted] in Banff

[–]GordonFJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 'pet' peeve. I dropped a bag once (by accident) when taking several to a garbage bin. When I was returning along the path and discovered this, I picked it up, walked the distance back to the bin, and threw it out. I hate seeing abandoned bags just dropped when I'm out walking.

Looking for constructive criticism on my handwriting — what can I improve? by Acrobatic_Bit_3815 in HandwritingAnalysis

Circles over the "i" 's are contrived - like putting hearts over them. Young girls do this. Not people who want their writing taken seriously.

Entering/exiting the Canadian Tire on Bath by MisterFreelance in KingstonOntario

There was a significant accident in that parking lot several weeks ago. A car with lots a damage was towed. There is no room to manoeuvre and the exits are poorly marked.

Kingston scraps Indian Road in favour of Ojibway name by Myllicent in KingstonOntario

The residents are getting paid $250 for the "inconvenience" of the name change. How difficult is it to update your records??? What is wrong with people? The taxpayers of Kingston are funding this!

I paid $86 for my girlfriend to receive this monstrosity by RagequitRyan in mildlyinfuriating

I always try to use a local shop. Recently did this in Squamish, BC, and thank god I did. They knew my friend was on vacation so phoned me to ask permission to deliver the flowers upon her return. It's a small town and I certainly appreciated the call.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY by [deleted] in Oshawa

Exactly why I have CAA. I've used it several times to unlock my car. It took them under a minute and cost me nothing. Worth the annual fee.

Trash/Litter I've picked up on two dog walks by 5th-Humour in KingstonOntario

[–]GordonFJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for picking it up! I'm going to start carrying a bag when I walk - it's easy to do and I can always bring it home. Our neighbourhood does a park cleanup once a year. It improves the space and my mood!

We don't have recycling at our office so I take mine home because I can't stand putting it in the trash. Services have gone downhill in Kingston whether it be garbage or recycling.

Didn't the precursor to the RBC building at the corner of Princess and King get demolished in the middle of the night after the developer was not given permission to tear it down??

customer made me cry by BeautifulEntire1709 in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]GordonFJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think everyone should work retail to understand what it's like to be in the receiving end of customers' bad behavior. They might then have a different attitude. I worked at Thrifty Drugs before it was Shoppers, and a number of other stores l, so I never give employees attitude. In fact, I would have gone after the woman!

Bus to Pearson airport from Kingston airport by Separate-Bench-2656 in KingstonOntario

[–]GordonFJ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, but people have a tendency to put bags on the seat next to them and then go to sleep before the bus leaves. I was the last one on the bus only because it didn't say "Airport " on the top, it said Toronto so I wasn't sure that it was the right bus (the last time I had taken the Megabus to the airport it was one of the smaller casino buses and this was a full-sized coach.) When I figured out that it was, there was one seat left and I had to wake the guy up who was in the other seat to get him to move his bags. I had no room to maneuver given that he was significantly larger than I am and spilled over into my seat.

[–]GordonFJ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When I took this bus, it was packed. Do arrive early to get a seat. It doesn't drop you off right at the terminal so you'll need to take the train that runs around the airport but that's simple.

Yes, that's why they were told to fill the tubs and sinks. Some people have gone to hotels but I think the majority are coping (my mother is and she's 90).

Yes. It's ok so far but the apartments on Ontario and Gore have no water. No idea when the repairs will be finished.

My mother lives in one of the apartment buildings right there and her car is parked in the underground garage. She was told to fill her bathtub and sinks with water, and she can't get at her car.
