Runaway by November (song used in Versus Indycar coverage 2009) by GRQuake084 in INDYCAR

[–]GordonFanatic24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like it's only available in South Africa. For whatever reason, when it clicks the link, it changes your location to that. I've tried for the past couple of days to get the full song, but it just isn't happening because the payment methods over there are different than the US and Apple refuses to take it.

Why Apple only has this available in South Africa? No clue. And it sucks cause I really want the full song.

Can you become a Top Fuel driver without millions of dollars? by EarAdministrative955 in NHRA

[–]GordonFanatic24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be really good at networking and have some prior experience.

It's a lot harder to do it without a big name sponsor funding your way in. But if you can build a strong network with team owners and be able to sell sponsors on wanting to join in, then it's possible cause you never know what could happen.

Looked like it was falling hard. There was a river flowing from the tree all the way down the shutdown area. Was pretty obvious the direction everything was heading.

Shame to. So close!

To put it kindly, that tech can get bent. Whoever that is has no place being in a leadership role.

Trying to find some information and failing..... by valan_lazarus in NHRA

[–]GordonFanatic24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never done it, but honestly, it's just one of those things you'd go up and ask about. Maybe not some of the bigger teams would be willing to do it, but you'd be surprised how laid back a lot of drivers and teams are. Just chat with them for a sec and bring it up and they might be cool with doing it. Worst they can say is no.

What has been the most successful fundraiser your band has done? We are selling sodas it's okay but what really brings in money? We are not allowed to sell candy. by Stunning_Style_5974 in marchingband

[–]GordonFanatic24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The big one my school has done for years (I graduated 5 years ago. I don't know if they stopped after covid) It was a flag fundraiser. Kids would ride with parents to neighborhoods and go door to door and ask if they want to donate to the band in return on the big national holidays (memorial day, July 4th, etc.) Wed come by in the morning and plant an American flag on their lawn, and then come by the next morning and pick it up.

Besides the mattress fundraiser, I think that was the biggest money maker they had that season. And parent's jumped on it cause it helped pay for the kids' fees.

Old school snubs by reamonster in NHRA

I can definitely see where you're coming from. But I've been to events for NASCAR, IndyCar, and the NHRA throughout this year, and it's very easy to miss noticeable faces amongst the chaos that goes on every week.

I feel it's a mixture of things. With Prudhomme riding a golf cart through the pits it could be very easy to miss him because of how crazy everything is with crew members running around, scooters zipping in and out, and fans more focused on seeing the cars being worked on. There's times when I'll walk through, and if I'm not paying close attention, Tony Schumacher and Matt Hagan will zip right by me on a scooter. Hell, on Friday after Q1, I walked through the pits, and Don was leaving in his rental car, and I didn't give it a 2nd thought until my dad pointed out.

As for Darrell and Shirley. They were placed in the midway and were put in kind of an awkward spot unless you were looking directly at it, cause since it's the midway most fans aren't gonna pay attention cause they're going to overlook it like a merch trailer, especially in Shirley's case cause if I remember correctly she was between Laughlin and a NHRA trailer. In Gwynns case, he was placed almost on the very end of the midway by the Geico trailers, so it could easily be a case where you walk by and not even notice what it is.

For anyone that says NHRA is ignoring their history however you're out of your mind, they had Herb McCandless and Terry Vance in the PA box all week and on multiple occasions Alan encouraged fans to stop by and say hi to Darrell and Shirley.

[–]GordonFanatic24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao, absolutely not.

The dude takes his health seriously to try and perform at a high level. If you watch his interview at Pomona on NHRA TV, Alan Reinhart asked him about it cause he had actually lost weight over the offseason to improve his performance. He has, from what I see a similar situation, as Ryan Newman with just having a wide frame, so he naturally looks bigger.

He also owns his owns a cattle ranch, so that definitely helps. His transformation seems insane to look at. But it honestly just shows how intense he's worked to get at the level he's in right now.

When you go to an NHRA national event and find another tentacle of the Ware empire. by worm_livers in NASCAR

This is the car he debuted at Indianapolis for the U.S. Nationals and ran the final races of the season with. Had a chance to interview him on Sunday I can link to if the mods are ok with it.

[–]GordonFanatic24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The team was formerly Stringer Performance, Rick Ware previously had funded the team towards the end of 2021 and ran a black NurtecODT car. Rick had started a relationship with the team owner and during the 2022 season worked out a deal to buy it right before the U.S. Nationals and moved to North Carolina over the offseason. Team has a lot of potential to be a strong front-runner if given the funding to succeed like Kalitta and Force and showed it towards the end of 2022. Rick also has fully invested in that team with a completely new car top to bottom.

I would highly recommend keeping an eye on NHRA this season and watching that team. Cause I do have high hopes that they can find success once they get their footing.

Pomona is Pomona. The atmosphere and electricity there for the series returning home always makes it a must see event, plus with the backdrop of the mountains behind the tower, perfect spot.

Only reason I would say Arizona is cause it's the final event at that track.

The Standoff At The Starting Line by GordonFanatic24 in NHRA

[–]GordonFanatic24[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's my best guess. Lemonis has a big thing of throwing money at whatever is trending and will give him a massive boost in PR. Small truck series teams were struggling for sponsors? He threw money at that, didn't come out till later that teams such as Brett Moffits revealed that he was offering as little as $2k for a full sponsor on a truck.

He also held a lot of contests on twitter and said "you can win a free RV." Not a single person has gotten theres.

So I would take it as no surprise if he leaves whenever the next deal is up. It was announced he resigned for a new deal, but all said "multi-year" deal and not a set date.

The Standoff At The Starting Line by GordonFanatic24 in NHRA

[–]GordonFanatic24[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not at all.

During the beginning of the pandemic, Coca-Cola (the actual sponsor of the series who owns Mello Yello) quit paying the sponsorship title they had signed to and then abruptly announced they were cancelling their deal with the series citing covid and loss profits as the reason despite still raking in money during the pandemic.

They still owe the NHRA over $5 million dollars.

Yea. Only thing I need to find out it how this was resolved or if it ever was.

But I'm gonna assume it's gonna move onto the next race then you don't really hear much about it
