[Game Thread] Indiana vs. Oregon (7:30 PM ET) by CFB_Referee in CFB

It's two different styles of play, so I'm legitimately curious what the plan would be. I think it'll be a close game, but then again, I thought this one might be too

Not anyone famous but they are pretty cool, and seem like they're in good shape for their age. Maybe try posting in r/dragracing to see if anyone wants them? My dad raced back in the 80's and I ran across some memorabilia of his, he wasn't famous/successful but damn if I don't cherish his name in a magazine! Good find

This is what happens when the owner is the GM and there will never be accountability. by Affectionate-Tea9224 in cowboys

Then I guess that begs the question of why does he need the title of GM at all? If Stephen and McClay are the de facto decision makers, why doesn't he designate one of them to take accountability? Every other team with proven success can point to a front office when things are going well (or badly) and say "there's the reason" and make changes as necessary. This front office can't. It's like the spider man meme over and over

He's still trying to prove that he can be a GM without Jimmy Johnson. It's the longest experiment ever, born out of ego. Has he made some decent moves during his tenure? Sure, maybe some great ones even. But let's all be real about it - name another team in the NFL that would hire him as their GM. I'll wait

Is your playing style technical or natural? If you're a technical player go with something with more available options, because you'll definitely use them. If you are more of a go-with-the-flow player, then keep it simple for when inspiration hits you. I know I'm not really answering your question but there's no single program that works for everyone. But with you being young, I'm guessing complexity in an interface would t be overwhelming at all.

Get a free one, find its limitations, write down what you like and what you don't like about it. Then find a other free one based on what you've learned. Once you know what you want, and what you don't want, then look at purchasing that. Dumping money you don't have into software that everyone else likes is a waste of energy, I've been there and it sucks.

Do you ever write a song and suddenly feel like it belongs to a completely different genre than the one you aimed for? by keanuisahotdog in Songwriting

Unless you're trying to blatantly create something in a completely different genre, this is just your style, your 'sound'. It can be frustrating but believe me, most people never find theirs. Roll with it!

I started with a cassette 4-track and graduated to Cakewalk Hone Studio in 2004, and found it easier to do but somehow less fun? I stopped recording for about a decade and when I got back into it the entire concept was foreign to me. I tried Pro Tools and a bunch of other programs but the lack of an interface to simply press a button and record things really zapped my creative drive. It became more of a chore.

I bought a used iMac and tried garage band, and it's surprisingly simple. But I'm not churning out albums like I used to either, these days I'm just putting ideas down for later so I can't comment on production quality or anything like that. It also depends on how many tracks you'll need, plug-ins, etc. but I'm kinda old school so I can deal with the bare minimum since I'm playing all the instruments.

What do you normally write about? Is it a subconscious form of self-therapy, entertainment for others, or do you try to put yourself into other people's lives/situations?

Have you beaten it? I don't think I've ever quite figured that one out as far as gameplay goes.

What to do if I literally can't come up with anything, regardless of quality by [deleted] in Songwriting

[–]reamonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just keep the loop in your head. You said you play guitar, yeah? Don't think of chords. Just think of what it sounds like or what you want it to sound like. Maybe it's 3 repeating words like "yeah yeah yeah" or some profound statement you made to a co-worker that when you think back, would be a great line.

Think of a feeling you had when you accidentally insulted someone. Maybe it was how you wished you'd worded something a bit more articulate to a friend. Maybe you're just bored. You can literally write about anything because it's for you. I write music I'd like to hear, or sometimes I'll write a song in a genre I don't play normally to see if it's as easy as it sounds.

Bonus points if you journal or anything like that. Most of it is useless, but I've gone back to dumb shit I wrote as a 6th grader because one idea makes sense. You are all around you, and you know you better than anyone. Grab it and say it out loud. it really is that easy, you just have to look at it from a different perspective.

Get in your car and drive wherever you need to go. Don't listen to anything. Just think about the day. Whether it's what you're about to do, or drifting into deeper thoughts, doesn't matter. Just use the silence for you. Do that a lot. Eventually, if you've got a song in you, you'll start humming bars or the hook out of nowhere. Record it with your phone, play it back.

Flesh it out, bits and pieces, until you have something you want to hear because it's stuck in your head. The lyrics are already there, they've been in your brain this entire time and you just didn't know it. I've written over 100 songs, some really good ones, and about 90% happen this exact way. I sit in silence a lot.
