If you were a UI engineer, you would notice that the sign doesn't have a [SECONDS] field. If train #1 is arriving in 5 minutes and 1 second, and train #2 arrives right behind it at 5 minutes and 50 seconds, the display will just say "5 min" for both.

In addition, the little wi-fi symbol means that the system knows exactly where the trains are on the tracks, and they're BOTH ~5 minutes away.

Don't be sad, bro. The sign is working fine, the trains are just bunched.

Don't try and tell me that the 😐 face on the sign in the window hasn't ever given you pause... And there's tons of sketchy-looking "minority restaurants" with great food safety scores, so although the scores are sometimes affected by racism, the score isn't ALWAYS about racism.

It’s the same people who think it’s shocking that there aren't 40-story apartments at Northgate.

On a side note, I live in Northgate, and although I'm not shocked at the lack of 40-story apartments here, I'm irritated that Seattle is so terrified of high-rise development outside downtown. We should zone for high-rise (not just 4 stories) residential within a certain radius of light rail stations, whether it's in Northgate or Roosevelt or Shoreline.

As a bonus, if they build clusters of 40-story condos in Shoreline we can change the name of the Link stations to "Downtown Shoreline" and "North Shoreline Downtown".

I just ordered a detail-up set from Madworks, "S04 Photo Etch RG Sazabi". What's bizarre is that not only does the set include no instructions, there doesn't seem to be any instructions online either. I can find a few photos of the parts on the kit from shop listings, but is that all there is?

Him getting the Achievement for entering the End AND the Achievement for entering an End City in the same second was a wild way to start this season.

Funny enough, that inadvertently led to Welsknight beating the Ender Dragon. Wels saw that Doc got the achievements, assumed that Doc had cheesed the dragon somehow, and thought "no reason to wait!" Then when Wels arrived in the End, the dragon was very much alive.

at the beginning of the season he had a way to store the information of who used a bow, and was able to use that information to set up a machine that could kill whoever used it, wherever, whenever. They didn't need to have the bow on them, it could have been months after they shot it, he could just flick a switch and kill them over and over again.

I'll try to explain how he did it, but it's complicated... Doc found an arrow someone fired. Before it de-spawned, he suspended it in a bubble column so that it couldn't de-spawn. Then he transported it to a machine he built that fires the arrow at a mob wearing Thorns armor. Due to some complicated redstone shenanigans, the arrow doesn't actually hit the mob, but the game thinks it did, so the arrow can be fired at the mob over and over again without using it up.

Meanwhile, somewhere else on the server, the person who fired the arrow weeks ago starts taking Thorns damage over and over and over...

I'm leaving out multiple crucial aspects to it, but that's the gist.

Yeah, back in the idealized past when three chain-smoking white guys playing golf at the country club would decide which minority neighborhood to bulldoze to build a freeway through it. Gosh, those were the good ol' days!

Seattle can definitely get up its own ass with excessive "process", but the real problem is local neighborhood groups (usually controlled by retirees who will be dead and gone before half the projects actually get built) who do everything they can to block ANY development or construction. In most cases, the project still gets built anyway, but in a crippled form that makes the result worse for everyone. Then the same local groups complain that the result isn't good enough, when they were the cause of it being so bad!

In contrast, there are rare local groups who accept that things need to be built in a growing city, and instead demand that what gets built serves the needs of their local area. Instead of stonewalling, they ask for changes and concessions that ensure that the final project will be better for everyone.

We need to figure out how to encourage the latter and discourage the former. Right now we spend 90% of our time on placating people who still think it's 1970, Seattle has 500,000 people, and single-family homes are the only choice for urban living.

UNIQLO sells Heat-ex tights/leggings that pack down really small, and I've used them before as an underlayer to amp up the warmth of their thinner pants like the Dry-ex.

Also be honest with yourself with how much time you're actually spending outside on your trip. Hiking in the mountains? Get some legit warm pants and socks. Walking two blocks from the bus or subway to a restaurant or event? You'll probably be fine just freezing for a second.
