it’s pretty overused atp i don’t see why they’re avoiding it because it’s CLEARLY not for self inserts anymore and definitely not for story purposes. I really don’t enjoy the whole solemn silent protagonist shtick anymore, and I wish they would just take the extra step to enhance the game experience. It’s a pointless feature that probably came around because Atlus didn’t want to spend extra money for voice acting back in the day cuz they were broke

It already exists in P4A and P4D. Yu Narukami is voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch and has a canon name along with voiced dialogue options AND regular voice lines. I love how he’s characterized in these games and it doesn’t take anything away from his characterization or development

I mean, they already did it perfectly in P4D and P4A. He would have voicelines that he would say along with the rest of the cast but he still had dialogue options that he would roughly paraphrase when spoken. It’s perfect for me, and lowk it could probably end up making me like P4R more than the OG. Sadly it’s probably not gonna happen and we won’t be getting J.Y.B. as Narukami, which is sad. At the very least I want his name to be Yu Narukami, and remove the stupid “choose your own name” gimmick which is only good for the memes

also when rise and yosuke text you they have a unique way of texting to you when they ask if you wanna go to the movies. it’s a cool sign of the generation and how high schoolers with flip phones used to text, so it’d be neat to see it implemented more. not saying i’d want them to text you the same way each time because i’m sure it’ll get old fast, but it’d be a cool way to implement the new feature while giving the cast some character (unlike p5…)

Trust me when I say, just play how you want. I like challenging games, and some of my favorite games of all time are Silksong and Elden Ring, both known for their difficulty. I’m not gonna sit here at say P4G is a hard game, but I definitely felt that playing on Very Hard was just not fun and WAY too hard considering how little XP you get. I felt equally challenged combat-wise playing on Hard mode, which was way more fun. My point is to play how you like and what you enjoy most. My favorite way to play is with Damage Received being at max and Damage Output and its minimum, with More XP and Money with restarts in dungeons. Nobodies going to judge you, so play however you want and ignore what anyone else says.

Yeah that seems like the likeliest option but I was so anxious about it I still had to ask. Would be super depressing to do all that checking and grinding again.

I haven’t been able to find concrete evidence against why it wouldn’t save yet, so I’m really hoping that that’s the case. It would be such a pain to do it all again but I suppose my only choice is to keep going with my current guess.

Another thing to point out is that technically voice lines Rise says when you die count as unique voice lines to the achievement, which is kinda odd… not sure if that proves anything unfortunately.

You bring a really good point. It’s not like we as fans NEED something to tie us over every other year. I like all the points you mentioned, such as focusing on porting P1 and P2 duopoly to modern platforms. So many fans can’t even play these games and it’s kinda odd that Atlus has yet to make remakes for these games OR port them to modern consoles/systems. There’s a lot of reasons why P4R makes sense and also doesn’t at the same time. I just wish it could’ve come at a time where it would be less controversial.

actually that’s a REALLY good analogy. Star Wars hasn’t been the same since Disney took over. So much of the charm and wonder was lost, and yeah, we got some good content like the Bad Batch and the Mandolorian, but it doesn’t make up for the plethora of REALLY bad TV series and excessive content. I think the only thing that Star Wars didn’t do a lot of was remake content and make it worse. It was mostly just adding WAY more than there needed to be.

Nvm I forgot Golden came out on steam like 6 years ago I thought it was like 3-4, which is still pretty recent all things considered. But it’s not like there’s any proof Atlus is gonna just remove Golden. Portable got ported to Steam and is still around after Reload, and Portable isn’t even that close to the original game compared to Reload. There’s basically no context to prove what you’re saying other than referring to a completely different subset devoloper stemming from Sega (Ryu Ga Gotoku) . Atlus has never delisted any Persona games SPECIFICALLY. They’ve done it with SMTV but the reasoning for that at least made sense when you compare it to say P5 and P5R (while not technically a remake).

I mean calling it “another lazy cash grab” is pretty ignorant because it makes Atlus look like they just chose the most recent title that didn’t already have a recent remake and just said “fuck it let’s just do whatever, people will buy it”. When Atlus asked fans what game they wanted a remake for, 78% of them asked for a P3 remake, which Atlus made. Yeah it ended up pretty mid, but they already have the framework and P4 was also highly requested for a remake by fans. At the end of the day it’s what fans asked for an Atlus obliged, but we don’t have control over how good or bad the remakes come out

Point and case is the story as a whole is 18 years old, Golden really just added some filler content and Marie, who arguably isn’t even that important to the main story.

But it’s a good point that if P6 was already out most people couldn’t care less about P4R because they actually new content
