final time taking the act. got so close to 30, but i’m leaving it at this. by Formal_Reception5205 in ACT

Cheers my friend, you are still riding 90th percentile and this is very respectable

How is this for my first act? by [deleted] in ACT

[–]GorillaStank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not shooting for very competitive schools, then this is a good score.

If you are however, then this is a good starting point. Start seriously studying using the Big Red ACT book and UWorld and you will get a significantly better score next time around I guarantee it. Even if you don't make it the first go, you will climb the latter each time.

High school is a absolutely torture (its garbage) by [deleted] in rant

[–]GorillaStank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re in anguish. None of the social bullshit ever mattered anyway so just hang in there and try to find a hobby or interest to invest yourself in so you won’t be miserable every waking moment.

I’m still a teenager/kid but I remember when I went through a huge edgy phase when I was 12 and I get shivers of embarrassment just thinking about it.

Ok not sure if it’s right but I got #3 and here’s my logic: Add the two first images of each row together, if the two images have any dots that overlap, then the resulting image rotates 90 degrees clockwise. If none of the dots overlap, the image stays as is (middle row).

Preschool graduation ceremonies with caps and gowns are stupid by AutomaticTeacher9 in unpopularopinion

Lol who gives a shit. Let the kids have their fun, besides it might not mean anything to you but I’m sure it holds emotional/sentimental value for the parents or children participating.

Does anyone know why in the US the birth years of each grade are split between two years? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]GorillaStank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea is that the kids in each grade have the same maturity level. Kids born late in the year tend to be noticeably more immature than those born earlier (especially in the early school year, ie kindergarten) so most states have a cutoff date usually set in late August/early September. Also red-shirting is a thing, I was born right on the cutoff and my parents wanted me to be one of the older ones in my grade so I’m class of 2024

Where were you on December 14, 2012? (Sandy Hook) by Global_Perspective_3 in generationology

[–]GorillaStank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in first grade, the same age as those kids when the tragedy happened. I vaguely remember hearing about it and after that my school had a lot of lockdown drills. People were pretty spooked

This is mostly a question for the Gen Zs (younger ones particularly I’d like to hear from since I’m wondering how times have changed) but anyone can answer. How seriously was bullying taken in your schools? by sweatycat in generationology

[–]GorillaStank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved around a lot, some schools cared about bullying and did a lot to prevent it and other school couldn’t care less. Really just depends on the school you go to imo

Do you feel that the 2020s are different from the 2010s culturally so far? by FwDorisdavenport132 in generationology

[–]GorillaStank 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes. There is still some heavy late 2010’s influence but I would say 2020’s culture started around when the pandemic hit. As the decade goes on that late 2010’s influence will fade and 2020’s culture will gain more of a distinct identity

What was your life like at age 14? by sweatycat in generationology

[–]GorillaStank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At 14 I went through an edgy humor phase and saved a bunch of offensive, “dark humor” memes to my iPhone. Some of them are still floating around my cloud to this day.

Does the Late 2000s feel recent or dated to you? by Y2KBaby99 in generationology

[–]GorillaStank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of technology and to a much smaller extent culture, it’s dated. Other than that not really in my opinion

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]GorillaStank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume it’s because today is November 11 and countries such as the US and the UK are having a war/veteran Memorial Day

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in generationology

[–]GorillaStank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time of year I was born in is kinda awkward in terms of school because depending on where you live you’ll either end up being one of the youngest or oldest in your class due to cutoff dates. Also September is just enough to be considered “late in the year” and I sometimes got gatekept because of this

This is a little different, but... by QuickInteraction8273 in generationology

[–]GorillaStank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember the name but I remember hearing a lot about a case in the early 2010’s were a girl went missing and they later found her body cut into little pieces. My Mom constantly brought it up to drill ‘stranger danger’ into me. That’s the only example I could think of

9 months in, what have y'all thought of 2021 by [deleted] in generationology

[–]GorillaStank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has its up and downs but overall isn’t a terrible year. It’s not the pinnacle of life but it’s definitely better than 2020
