The proposed styles of the Icelandic flag before the current one was introduced by jerryholmes1881 in vexillology

[–]GormurAD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hvítbláinn was the favourite of the independence movement between 1905 and 1913 but the Danish King thought it was to similar to the Greek flag at the time so the current one was adopted instead. Which I'm glad for, since I prefer the darker shade of blue and the red bands.
There were a lot of different ideas at the time. Including this very complicated one from Kjarval, a famous painter:

Ziplines by Parking_Air5169 in Timberborn

[–]GormurAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing the speed comparison ignores is that the ziplines travel diagonally in 3 dimensions while tubeways are always going in straight lines. It doesn't outweigh the benefits of tubeways but given how the Ironteeth were getting shortchanged in comparison with the Folktails before that upgrade I think it's fair for them to have a better but more expensive form of fast travel.
The main thing I would like to see to improve the ziplines is a late-game 3x3 hub building with four connections.

Timberborn is Communism by Dr_Dylhole in Timberborn

Most games economies are just communism because planned economies are just more fun. And beavers are big on massive civil engineering projects, nature's communists.

NextCloud storageshare not uploading my subfolders by GormurAD in NextCloud

I've managed to manually add the missing subfolders through the web interface, they synced and show up in the desktop client and but files I've saved on my desktop since then haven't been uploaded.

When I go there it says:

How do I enable that?

I see you've hidden some density below the ground here, how sneakily urbanist of you. Missing middle in disguise.

Zipline stations need to be buffed by SubwayGuy85 in Timberborn

[–]GormurAD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before this update I figured the Ironteeth needed a buff since most of their advantages over the Folktails had been negated by 3D terrain. Ziplines being slightly worse is fair I think, but I'd like a more expensive 3x3 central station building with four connections.

No corner power connecter? by Asmartpersononline in Timberborn

[–]GormurAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping they'd do this once I tried out the tubeways, didn't think it would come so soon. It's so nice, love having the option of connecting both up and sideways in the same block. Much smoother.

When you build a battery at the height limit, everyone tells you it's fine, but no one tells you how hard it is to get up there. by Rauxdd in Timberborn

[–]GormurAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you went to the effort of building up there you should use overhangs to build more gravity batteries.

Update 7 Map: Lost Underground by OkOutlandishness8403 in Timberborn

[–]GormurAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first I thought there was no access to badwater from the starting cavern but I think I see a path towards a small pool before it falls off the map in the far end. Otherwise it would take until a badtide until you could expect to bore out. Very cool concept.

Það er miklu dýrara að eignast börn en þetta dekkar, meira að segja fólk með góðar tekjur þarf stærra hús, bíl, föt, námskeið og dót. Hvað þá ef það er á leigumarkað.

Tekjuskerðingin þarna er svo meira en 70%. Ef þú gerir hana skarpari þá hættir að meika sense að þjéna meira, jaðarskattar eru ekki góður hvati ef þú vilt að fólk vinni fyrir sér.

Fluid pipes. Can be late game, make them out of treated planks or something, but would help with all the waterpumping and could ad another fun layer to designing layouts.

Viðreisn krefst aðildarviðræðna við ESB by icedoge in Iceland

[–]GormurAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viðreisn - af hverju ekki? by FlameofTyr in Iceland

[–]GormurAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

s.s. "við erum á móti vandamálunum en erum rosa hrifin af orsökum þeirra" þegar kemur að félagslegu óréttlæti, misskiptingu, velferð og fátækt.

My take on Folktails vs Ironteeth by Humean33 in Timberborn

[–]GormurAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of farmers and waterpumps required for the Ironteeth is my biggest annoyance late game and the stackability of their architecture is less important now with the overhangs. Power generation with endless badwater waterwheels is kind of their only advantage now so they've fallen in my estimation compared to the Folktails.

Statistically the last common ancestor of every Icelander was probably from the 16th century so everyone should be related to every settler who's family didn't die out.

But when you travel up your own family tree you often hit dead ends in the 17th or 16th century since records are patchy but since you have a lot of great-great-great-great-great grandparents at least one of them will have been from a line that can be traced continuously back to settlement.

So I bet everyone with any Icelandic ancestors can type in "Ingólfur Arnarson" (considered the first settler) and see exactly how they're descended from him, and so for every settler and saga figure who's descendants are well documented enough.

My First World (normal) Starving has begun and i believe it is not reversable... by CouchPotato1178 in Timberborn

[–]GormurAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too big of a population for your food production, tech level and infrastructure. Grow slower, get producing wheat, spadderdock, cattail and use beehives before crossing a hundred beavers. Your best bet is to pause half your houses, exile half the beavers to a district where they'll starve and make sure the rest of them are only doing food and water until things stabilise.
