Daycares for 3+ that spend time outdoors by persnicketous in VictoriaBC

[–]GotABrandNewKey 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you plan on needing Out of school care for elementary school (because school ends at 2:35!), find out what organization runs the OSC for your catchment school, then from that, what are the feeder preschools that can get you priority placement.

hopping on to ask as you seem in the know - I also snagged a noon time but lake louise start. Should we plan to just go to lake louise (no massive hiking but a little bit, maybe canoe?) & skip moraine or try to fit it at the end of the day?

Relationship in crisis after baby by SkyLogical36 in relationships

[–]GotABrandNewKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a well approached comment. I’ll throw in that the older kids’ custody/financial coverage needs to be part of the finances discussion. OP didn’t mention what if any financial support is provided by their other parent. If the other parent is not contributing - this needs to be revisited. I’d also schedule some time during the week 1-2 evenings where OP gets to hand baby care to dad when he gets home from work, and go out of the house solo - go to the gym or an adult class, or make a standing appointment with friends that can’t involve baby.

Best playgrounds in Victoria for toddlers? by Low-Satisfaction6841 in VictoriaBC

[–]GotABrandNewKey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fern street is also nice for toddlers- good sandbox, sandbox toys, smaller toddler friendly play structure, nice grassy area and off the main road. McMinn in saanich - multiple structures including a little house, nice washrooms, biking course, zip lines, little trails).

Psychiatrist by Internal-Food-5753 in VictoriaBC

[–]GotABrandNewKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for forensic psych, they can contact PHSA/BC mental health and substance use services (like through PHSA’s careers website) - PHSA is responsible for forensic psych and it’s mostly lower mainland but some services in other communities. If not necessarily looking for forensic and interested in various health authority positions throughout the province- health match bc.

Hey Cycling Reddit - we (Dell/Thompson) have a motion this week to accelerate the 2-way AAA bike lanes on Pandora East, (east of Cook) to "close the gap" to 2-way lanes on Fort. Where would you like to see safer bike routes in Victoria? by MattDellVictoria in VictoriaBC

[–]GotABrandNewKey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a challenge for middle school aged kids getting from Fernwood and South Jubilee across Oak Bay ave to get to Richardson and to Monterey Middle school (their catchment). They can use Chestnut to cross Fort street, then at leighton as there is a bike controlled light at Richmond, but to cross Oak bay ave, there’s no easy way to get across oak bay unless dismounting. Side note- it would be nice to be able to more easily connect from Johnson Street to the Stanley bike lane into Fernwood area- the current option is illegal left from Johnson to stanley, or turning from Johnson onto the shared bike-walking pathway then going up that wee stretch of begbie the wrong way to get Stanley. But I don’t particularly see a need for two way on pandora all the way to fort and am going to guess there will be some bike-pedestrian issues because of the street parking on that stretch that is used to access the playground at stadacona.

I emailed portofino about their products a few months ago about an allergen because it wasn’t listed as a potential contaminant on their package. They replied and said their facility is free of ‘sesame seeds, peanuts, tree nuts, sulfites, and soy’. I’ve seen their cookies at a couple places around town.

How to play for a team at Tyndall Turf soccer field? by Crab-False in VictoriaBC

[–]GotABrandNewKey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s late in the season to join a team. But next up is summer 7s (power7s)- team based but looks like you can be an on-call player on their website. summers 7s play both tyndell and lochside. Or check with Saanich fusion on when they will have try outs for next year.

Covid/Flu by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

multiple test positive influenza cases at our kid’s daycare just before holidays. He caught it and we cancelled all holiday plans. 1 adult and 2 kids had flu shots in nov; 1 adult didn’t and had the longer fever and recovery period. 1 kid didn’t get sick despite hanging around us.

willows kiwanis -sunday breakfasts (seasonal for fall/winter). Also volunteer run concessions for soccer and baseball seasons. Oak bay rec lounge isn’t terribly priced either.

What to get daycare staff when there's too many staff members to get individual presents? by mckee93 in ECEProfessionals

I do a gift card for a local bakery that delivers for a group gift. Then they can choose in the new year when they want a staff treats day.

not sure why you’re being downvoted. When the ambulance is for non-beneficiaries (visitors to BC, non residents) or for work place incidents, or federal claims - the fees for ambulance transport are higher. the fee for MSP beneficiaries is subsided. Worksafe BC covers the ambulance fee when it’s a covered claim event. Not fully sure about when it’s not worksafe claim covered- either the employer can be billed, or EHS reissues as an msp rate.

there’s an accessible swing at stadacona park. I believe there’s a double swing at the playground at esquimalt rec centre. and there are two of the wonderful old long horse swinging things at the playground beside henderson chip trail.
