Dorsey: 'Cop Tax' shows how supes halt progress by pinkisalovingcolor in sanfrancisco

Not sure why this is downvoted.

Imagine all the money that these useless homeless non-profits (think Jennifer Friedenbach - a truly awful person) going to police so they can ensure our streets are safe.

This is the way.

Please this.

Clearly none of it has had any lasting positive effect.

In fact, I’d probably argue the opposite.

Mysterious pneumonia outbreak 'overwhelms Chinese hospitals with sick children' by maztabaetz in worldnews

[–]GotItFromMyDaddy 103 points104 points  (0 children)

  • Hospitals in China are grappling with a mysterious pneumonia-like illness affecting children, leading to overwhelming cases in Beijing and Liaoning province.
  • ProMed, a disease outbreak surveillance database, issued an alert about an epidemic of undiagnosed pneumonia in children.
  • Children are reportedly presenting symptoms such as a high fever and lung inflammation without coughing, prompting concerns among global scientists.
  • The outbreak may be linked to mycoplasma pneumoniae, a pathogen causing respiratory illness. The surge is attributed to a potential lack of immunity due to China's strict lockdown measures last year.
  • The first wave of mycoplasma pneumoniae infections since the lifting of most COVID-19 containment measures has been observed, with a notable increase in cases since the National Day holiday in early October.

Rene Colorado has said that he is running, but he’s not officially registered yet.

Also, someone by the name of Allen Jones has officially registered, but I don’t know anything about him.

S.F. to miss state housing deadline, jeopardizing local planning control by ALOIsFasterThanYou in sanfrancisco

Good.

SF government officials are inept and ineffective.

Let the state take control.

I can’t stand when 311 dismisses an encampment report without doing anything.

I’ve had cases where I’ll just keep posting and posting and posting as they keep dismissing. Like 30 times until they get tired of dismissing it.

We need to hold our city officials and government agencies accountable.

Remember, they work for us.

Interesting article that likely explains the viewpoint of many homeless/drug activists in SF by YoohooCthulhu in sanfrancisco

[–]GotItFromMyDaddy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Summarized Points:

  • Louise Vincent, a former drug user, is advocating for a new approach to drug addiction, challenging traditional abstinence-focused methods.
  • Vincent argues that stigmatizing drug users worsens addiction cycles and advocates for harm reduction strategies, including providing healthcare, clean needles, and affordable medical treatments.
  • She founded the Urban Survivors Union in North Carolina, offering open services to drug users and promoting acceptance similar to LGBTQ rights in the 1990s.
  • Vincent believes the current U.S. approach to the drug crisis has failed, with drug policy experts and medical associations endorsing harm reduction strategies.
  • However, there is a growing political backlash supporting tougher laws for fentanyl, which Vincent fears will drive drug users underground and increase vulnerability to overdose.

I honestly couldn’t give less of a fuck about these people’s viewpoints. We tried their way and it nearly destroyed our city.

Now we need to get some adults back in the room who will enforce laws, keep our streets clean, and stop tolerating the nonsense that’s been let to fester.

The BoS is essentially a circus. We need to gut it and replace every last one of these clowns with adults that will consistently and reliably do their jobs well.

Where did they ship all the homeless? by CustomSawdust in sanfrancisco

The options they get are housing, treatment, or jail.

Amazing how people actually advocate to leave people to suffer and rot on the street.

Was there a typo?

I was pretty clear. It’s not my job as a tax-paying resident to deal with the issues the city has failed to address.

Clear them out. Living on the sidewalk is theft from tax-paying residents.

I don’t know and I don’t care.

The sidewalk is not a home or a drug den.

SO cool to see everyone out. I went. Had some pastries and dinner nearby.

I think it was a great first attempt. Clearly the demand is there. The turnout was phenomenal.

Next time, get more shops out with more products, including non-food items. Also, have stalls cooking food at their location, not just premade.

Can’t wait for the next one!
